As an owner of a 2014 VW CC 3.6 VR6, these new cars don't get me excited. The sound of the VR6 is glorious, already a classic (watch a launch control I recorded on YT Shorts if you never listened a VR6).
Agree it's a good looker. I was quite tempted bt the wagon, but the price is huge, and I wanted to go back to a straight 6 from my EA888 Golf 7.5R wagon. For the price they charge, maybe they should have had a V6, but then it would have maybe hurt Audi sales.
@@CopyMSaka S4 is diesel, and not hugely fuel efficient either, which is a shame. I was going to say RS4 was way more expensive, but it's not. The Arteon R has a RSP of £60k, and I specced one with a few things I'd want and it came to £67k!!! FFS that's ridiculous. I knew it was pricey, but I thought it was closer to £50k!! I specced a RS4 and it came to about £11k more.
@@divinehatred6021 people have diffrent tastes in style i guess but for more money less power (your solution to this is tuning which will take it out of warranty idk if i would do that and if you are okay wiith out of warranty if you tuned an audi it will be much more powerful so idk)
It deserved the EA855 Evo at least. This and the Tiguan already deserved that engine. But no, lets keep overusing the EA888 available on every other car of the VW group. Though the Arteon looks way better still using the MQB platform, interior it's gorgeous.
In Wolfsburg they have driving protoype Arteon R with 5 cylinder engine from Audi RS 3 with 400 HP. But they decide to cancel this case and increase power in EA888 to 320 HP and thats all. On YT are some videos with 5 cylinder Arteon R on Nurburgring. Money rules the world, guys (accountants too 😂😂😂).
I can’t understand why till now VW ( not the groupe ) can’t make a proper SPORT CAR ( including V6/V8 engines ) when u see other big “LOW-COST “brands doing proper sport cars and one of the best if not the best experiences and trusted engineers in the Automobile industry not even try to do it makes me feel sad
So FREAKING gorgeous car. Engine wise, ok…. a stronger one would be nice, even a diesel Audi S4 (to minimize cannibalism with the more expensive S5 etc.) would be welcome! Still, I like this car LOTS!
VW missed the chance to make this car special with a VR6 or a 5 cylinder. Now it is just an expensive Passat. Especially the interior looks identical to a regular passat. A different exterior is not enough.
I test drove one of these. At the time I owned a tuned golf R. I was very disappointed with the motor. Obviously jaded by the car I owned. Motor, underwhelming. The rest of the car was good. I'm glad I didn't buy it though. It's very much a family car. It needed a different motor.
just because how good it looks they needed to to a coupe version and the R line needed a v8 ( touareg) it could actually be a better looking car or at the same level as the c class coupe amg this is actually better looking than the current rs5, i could buy this over that.
@@divinehatred6021 of course. But in this car that looks like this and has this presence it needed a proper powertrain and not the same one as a Golf R
maravilhoso; eu tenho o Passat B8 coloquei o mesmo volante. interior ficou muito parecido. Show de carro esse Arteon pena que nunca veio para o Brasil.
This thing would smoke my dad BMW 520i M Sport (F10) anyday. I check on google 520i M Sport F10 only has under 200hp. 180hp-190hp i think. But still fast.
I saw the station (non R) of the Arteon recently and I have to say it's so sharp, still for this money not many people would turn to VW over one of the big 3 German car makers. Nevertheless a very impressive luxury car!
@@Tobi-ln9xr Audi, BMW and Mercedes. These are the big 3 so called Premium car-makers in Germany he's refering to. Porsche is a different league, with different customers as well. And Volkswagen WAS the car for the masses. Pricewise, it's not anymore though ;)
The problem is that you are not getting less for the money you are paying if you turn to VW, you just get a different badge that is owned by VW anyway.
It's a shame that it has the same engine as golf r. This should have had an audi s4/5 v6 turbo engine, because it's bigger and heavier. But in the real world 13 seconds from 100 to 200 is on the same level as an audi s4 with more cylinders and more hp.

What is that groaning noise under braking @ 09:51 - 09:56. My Arteon R does the same noise and infact the two skoda superbs i had before my Arteon also made the dame noise when braking from speeds of around 200-220kmh Btw I actually dont think the braking is that good in general. It could be alot better and im surprised that despite the weight, they only use 2 piston calipers wnd also 310mm rear dsics. The Audi S4/S5 platform has 354mm front disc with 4 piston calipers and 330mm rear discs and those cars are lighter.
It’s not a trend, like he said in the video this car was built still using the old MQB platform, which is indeed better than that stupid tablet in the Golf 8
It is, you no longer see this screens being used, though most likely Golf 8 still has a MIB head unit inside the glovebox the screen is nowhere the same (don't quote me right still being a MIB, my car is a 7.5 GTI and I don't plan to put my ass inside any model 8 in any time in the future). This screens are likely gone. Take the example of the Scirocco with Platform PQ35, and was still being sold in 2017. Headunit was a MIB but the screen and unit where all together and not just a screen@@poky6127
The engine cover was part of a recall. I just had one fitted to my Tiguan Allspace 245 (the Golf GTi engine) as part of recall 10H9. BTW, I have a stage 1 from racingline on my Allspace. With no other hardware it gives me 339PS & 500Nm. Leaves these R's for dust :)
The exterior ist gorgeous! The interior is the same as from the passat of 2014, looks old. The HUD just a shame! Are you fuck*n kidding VW? This performance model needs a 6 cylinder like the S4 or RS4 by Audi and 400 hp at least - especially for that high price!
I have a 24 GTI 380, haptic feedback buttons on the steering wheel and they are never hit by accident. They actually have to be pressed down in order for them to function.
Dude Arteon Shootingbreak all day… Even a R Variant vs a Diesel Shootingbreak I would pick the Arteon. This is coming from a 2019 Golf GTI PP owner… the Golf Variant is really ugly, no awesome skirts, no good rear headlights, it’s just a lame Golf…
@@pokest225I have the Octavia RS, with the dq250 so only 6 speeds, but the newer ine has the DQ381, 7 speeds. I wonder which one is more reliable between the two.
A really beautiful car indeed, but why VW, why don`t you stuck at least a 6 cylinder engine? why those 2.0l 4 cylinders engines? It sucks and does not suit the car at all...
