This is easily one of VWs best exterior designs to date. Its cohesive and attractive from all angles in my opinion, something that can not be said of all of their current vehicles.
It is for sure a beautiful vehicle (and it is complicated to make a shooting brake ugly) though... As a flagship and a vehicle meant to be charismatic, I feel a lack of inspiration, a lack of innovation about the style. It is beautiful, but that's all. It is, imo, not an interesting vehicle, since it doesn't innovate on the style. And I think it is a pity for a vehicle like this one.
I really like style of reviews vs some other big RU-vidr's reviewing new cars. I like the way you take a detailed look into details such as the materials used on door cards and the quality of the speaker system. Also things like the interior lighting which can often be overlooked by other reviewers.
I wish so desperately for the R Estate in the US, even though I know it will never happen. I would immediately trade in my Golf R for it; I think there is nothing cooler than this design, and also, that I can sleep in the back of it!
I was thinking the exact same thing I had bad luck with my Volkswagen CC because of the timing chain and I personally never wanted to touch a Volkswagen again but after seeing this I love the design
All the Rs have impressive driving manners. Too bad they also have budget interiors. There are no quality bits or attention to detail anywhere. Nothing special inside, just adequate.
cracking review as always Thomas, oddly for a VW...stunning colour and estate model 💯. Need to change the touch buttons to real ones, offer more alcantara materials and proper HVAC controls, and proper HUD. do none of the VW test team try and drive and access HVAC controls at same time!!
I still can't forgive how VW downgraded the digital cockpit compared to the first version when the new Passat came out in 2015. It was way more colorful and with more options. This one looks cheap, especially when you pay 60k+€ for the Arteon R for example
Please always rest your head back on the headrest, when you are testing rear head room. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. Very frustrating. Love your work though and I'll be back for more. 😀
I'm glad I chose Superb Combi L&K 2021, 2.0TDI 147kW, instead of this Arteon. Both the steering wheel and heating/air condition are using old school physical buttons (and I like its design much more) and the rest is very close and significantly cheaper. Sadly, the volume nob on the center display is also missing when 9.2" display is configured (my spec).
I wished VW would bring this to the United States, sadly it's never gonna happen because the American majority don't like wagon or hatchbacks 😠☹. Thus is one of the best looking wagons.
@Autogefuhl, Hi, long story short, I have an VW Sharan 2.0 TSI (220HP and 350NM), I also have an Golf R 7.5, I want to buy the Aerton R Shooting Brake (it will be available here around November) in order to change the Sharan, the Sharan is a very confortable car for me so, please let me know what's your opinion about the Aerton vs. Sharan, which one is more confortable from the driver point of view? Thanks.
when technology instead advance and make our life better start to go backwards and make our life more difficult. what was wrong with physical buttons? this dumb trend is a disaster. thanks Mercedes Benz for still keep them alive.

@@autogefuehl Vielen Dank dafür und wann dürft ihr ihn selbst fahren ? Ich frage deshalb, weil ich den durchaus auf dem Zettel habe als Nachfolger für meinen A4 Avant im kommenden Jahr. Ich weiß schon vom Verkäufer meines Vertrauens, dass er nicht vor Oktober/November in den Showroom kommt. Selbstverständlich fahre ich den dann auch mal selbst Probe, aber für einen ersten Eindruck genügt auch zuerst eins eurer Videos
My old crappy x-type is 16 years old and the paint looks way better than that orange peel on this ..You pay 50k and get that paint? And what's worse, I saw the same kind of bad paint on Audi q7 which is one of their higher end models.
For once I'm going to disagree. I thinks it looks brash and not very well proportioned, with no delicacy of detailing or purity of design. Look at the relationship between the puny rear lights (are they from a Golf Estate?), the rear spoiler and the crease below the (to me) awkward rear haunches for instance. Very poorly resolved. The overhangs are too long and the wheels out of proportion on this model. The front is a mess of lines that seems designed to look aggressive above all and that's not a good thing in my book. What responsible car company would promote an aggressive look? The slit-like side windows make the whole car look too flat, especially on these huge wheels and with too much ground clearance to my eyes. It looks almost like a toy car in some ways. No, not a fan at all. I've never liked this model from the start. I appear to be in the minority.
Good design, good motor But will not buy a car in 2021 with a infotainment made in 2010 … 11 years ago. VW and Carmeq, wake up and go check out Polestar, Tesla or the Renault EV …
There are good cars, fantastic cars and shit cars for most price points, if you buy into the gimmicky shit you are at risk of buying a shitty car no matter the price
