Hi everyone Mat here 👋. I just wanted to wish you all a happy new year. And would like to hear what you'd like to see more of and what you wish there was less of on this channel. I'll read through all of your comments for ideas... And don't worry, I won't be offended to hear about what you don't like. Thanks for your time!
Idk about every else, but I really appreciate it when a manufacturer encorperates the infotainment screen into the dash instead of having it stick out and look like an afterthought
Arguably one the nicest looking cars of of recent years, best thing is, it's forgettable and not something every other person has, so, you see it again after some time and appreciate just how nice it is all over again!
@Too Legit To Quit yes they are making money out of it that’s true but everyone need to make money to survive but let’s appreciate that truth this times they are still working instead of sitting at home stuffing they’re self with food at the end of the day it’s stilll work that they are doing 🤨
@@iBlogGadget and you know this coz ? If this was filmed then they still film others now instead of trying to complain and argue why not appropriate that they do a good job 👍🏽
@@irfanj Well, the S20 Ultra despite its large display is slightly taller but narrower than an iPhone 12 Pro Max. So if a S20 Ultra doesn't fit, an iPhone 12 pro Max won't fit either.
@@automation7295 Too bad we get the pathic Jaguar, Lotus, Range Rover Land Rover, Roll Royce, Bentley and MINI. They have trouble making it 50 yards without a breakdown.
@@williamegler8771 *"Too bad we get the pathic Jaguar, Lotus, Range Rover Land Rover, Roll Royce, Bentley and MINI"* If you think they're pathetic, why don't you go to UK and murder everyone at Jaguar, Lotus, Range Rover Land Rover, Roll Royce, Bentley and MINI? *"They have trouble making it 50 yards with a breakdown"* You're just saying something that's not true. Why do people always assume things?
@@automation7295 Surveys of owners and aftermarket warranty companies in the UK have placed them all in the worst than average category for reliability. Range Rover is #31 of 31 manufacturers involved in the survey. Same situation in the United States. I have not only visited the UK but lived and worked there for five years. British motorways are overrun with foreign nameplates. German French Japanese and Korean cars far outnumber British ones.
I own the VW Arteon fastback here in Sydney, the R Line version; chipped - goes like stink, loads of tech, looks amazing, loss of room. It replaced my previous BMW series, absolutely love it.
I have the Arteon R-Line as well (Melbourne) I LOVE IT!! The performance is outstanding, it's spacious, luxurious, loaded with tech and looks fabulous. I previously had a 2017 Chrysler SRT 6.4 litre Hemi.. And as much as I loved it, I don't regret moving to the Arteon... It's so elegant and turns heads everywhere I go!
@@smwatson1512 Oof I'd disagree with that, Arteon seems a bit more refined in terms of its design. Kinda like a design language combination between a Merc and an Audi. Fits my preference quite well but hey, that's just my opinion.
I don't know why they've done that. I've got the old arteon and mine indicator is integrated into the inner LED strip. The old arteon has dual LED headlamps too... step backwards?
Totally agree on physical knobs and switches in the car - until the voice control is 90% accurate , the physical button helps the driver A LOT when driving. And it is related to safety aspect.
I have a 2017 Skoda Superb Estate(wagon in Australia) 206kw 4WD. This review makes me feel how bloody good my Superb is! It’s not giving much away at all to this VW. Plus mine has wireless charging!🤪 The VW looks great but I’ve no intentions of looking to change even if we see this “Down Under”! Good review Mat. All the best for 2021! 🍻👍🏻
You also have over 100 litres more boot space than the Arteon... The Superb is still the biggest Estate the VW group do by cargo volume, which is literally the reason to buy an estate in the first place. A washing machine will fit in the back of the Superb without folding the seats down - though you do have to take the cargo cover off.
I was seriously considering this car to replace my 2018 A4 Avant because I wanted a bit more space but after this review I think I'm going to rule it out. Thanks for another great review Matt and its done what I think you set out to do; help people decide on what car to buy 👍🏻.
Cla Shooting break is quiet better, if you have the night and amg version. VW stole the design and it's a Passat, nothing better. I have the shooting break cla. Before I had a cls shooting break. Beautiful, powerful and modern.
@@youraveragejoe1 it's not copy and paste. When i see bs i have to point it out. I have nothing against Mat, i can't judge him because i don't know him. But this channel is just an advert. You don't learn anything and there are so many ads. Mat doesn't criticize these cars, partly because they are new and you can't. Why doesn't he review these cars after ten years to see how they hold up? This Arteon isn't much different to the first Passat CC if you put them side to side. How is the price acceptable compared to a normal PASSAT. Why doesn't he talk about the dual clutch transmission and the fact the Volkswagen outside the EU sells it's cars with Aisin8? If he is a professional journalist he should know these things and discuss them. If you want a real car channel where you learn something check out Car Expert.
This car reminds me of the Scirocco with it's sloping lines along the side. Just an updated, longer and more practical version of it. I can imagine the 2.0 petrol with four wheel drive being an amazing car to drive!
What do you think - is the Arteon Shooting Brake the best looking Volkswagen out there? LIKE this comment if you agree, or COMMENT with what you'd choose instead!
Arteon replaced CC, and CC replaced passat CC By the way, CC had better seats than Passat, more Coupe. Also originaly CC is just 4-seater. So yes, Arteon is downgrade. And its just passat with bezzeless windows.
@@davosworks ok i agree, but that said people say it like it is a bad thing, let's not forget the passat is a 40.000 bucks car... It certainly isn't at level with its premium competitors but it has some very good quality interiors
@@davosworks Very, VERY tiny. I have driven one for some time as a company car. However, i couldnt get used to how small the interior is compared to the exterior. it feels really cramped...
4:27 you know what also fits a key nicely? A keyhole. I really wonder why they're all removing keyhole in favor of start buttons and then making another place to put your key.
@@Bartonovich52 I don't think it's ugly. Also cars needs grills to cool the engine. So you complain about big grills on cars, yet you don't complain about big grills on trucks?
It is the perfect car. I have a 190CV Elegance version from DEC2019 ( so the "normal" Arteon ) and it is amazing , really in all. The only thing ist thta the current prices are too high. We bought it with a lot of discounts for less than 36 k €, what is compared to today extremely good.
Watching this and thinking to myself: has VW been studying the Renault Talisman Grandtour? So many design elements and features look very similar. However the mirrors look weird on their diagonal stalks.
I think the Arteon coupe is the most beautiful vw currently in production. I am not a vw fan, but they always catch my eye. The shooting brake is a less successful design in my opinion.
Arteon is not coupe anymore. Its just sedan and Combi with bezzelless Windows. CC was Coupe, it also had coupe seats (they were different than in passat), also it was originaly 4-seater. It had predecessor of IQ light, Arteon has basic lights, basic seats from Passat, and only black interior. Last coupe from VW was CC
@@betterbeavailable I love the external looks apart from the VW front. Seems like a car that doesn't back up the pretty face with practicality and that kind of ruins the estate thing. I can't decide what to get. The Skoda Superb is so bland, the Passat looks like a Golf in a bad way. V60 looks old. Opel is pricy for what it seems to offer. Maybe E/C Class is just the way to go...
Ten years from now.. halogen will be like vinyl records or photographic film or tube amplifiers. LEDs are so ubiquitous that they don’t even matter anymore.
Halogens are really outdated nowdays i even got LED indicators on my 02 Zafira in the front really gives the car more expensive feeling althought looks to me
It has wireless charging, and also the Passat have it. The diesel engine does not have 190 hp it has 200hp. Come on Mat, you usually don't make these kind of blunders.

Dude u havnt seen many then. Only merc and volvo and old wagons are ugly. Golf n passat too maybe. Audi avants looks better than any car. XF sportbreak, optima sportwagon, i30 wagon, corolla touring, corolla fielder, regal tourX, Levorg/liberty wagon, panemera ST, bmw wagons all look great.
@@mubeennoorani537 - the RS4 starting price is £22k more than the Arteon Shooting Brake R. Probably a lot more once you start adding options which are standard on the VW.
@@louisbeerreviews8964 - look up the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo 😜 My guess is both cars use the same platform with the VW just having a cheaper interior and a smaller engine, but costs around £100k less 😬😳
Im pretty sure they switched to touch since Mats hard pointing fingers touching hard pointing pulling slapping testing everything started to break to many cars🤣 Love Mat he is the funniest best car tester ever. Ever❤️
Never ever abondon ”THIS IS...AND IT`S A LITTLE BIT LIKE” - it`s the only reason why I watch your reviews of cars I am fundamentally not interesting in 😁
@@automation7295 So sweet of you to say. I drive a manual everyday, I've owned 11 different cars with a manual. Does this give me a pass on buying an estate if I want one. I promise to glorify them, love them, cherish them for the rest of my days.
@@MrSudanPresident the PASSAT has always been the best value for money, the only car that is larger is the Skoda Superb. The Phaeton isn't bigger than a Passat, it's smaller in the back.
If he opens the door the camera man would take a loooong walk and enter a bit to film, wich is a little bit time consuming specially when you want to film the car in a day.
