Looking back at this since the golf r trueflex tune just released. Time for some e85!

Any job becomes 10-times more difficult when filming it. Good job on this, though. I would have been cussing like a sailor. Funny the way that the right tool can make a hard job easy!

Just exactly HOW easy is it do if you by the HPFP assembled? Of course I'd need the true flex harness too. But is it really just plug and play?
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
Way easier if you get the assembled HPFP. Pop out the old and insert the new. Should be less than an hour job even as a novice diy mechanic.

Whats the difference between the original part ans the updated one ?
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 3 дня назад
@@bandlylero The difference is in the amount of fuel flow they allow. I believe this is dictated by the shape and design of the piston in the fuel pump.

what size is the little red tool you used? and what’s it called? that’s the only tool i’m missing.
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
I’m unsure if this tool exists from any other tool manufacturer, but here it is on Autotech’s site. You might be able to find it elsewhere online or you might ask if anyone has one in a local MQB group for your area. autotech.com/i-30497844-autotech-fuel-pump-tool-gen-3-tfsi-for-103k-203k-300k-and-dual-101k-kits.html

Good job , were there a few F- Vaguh bombs thrown out during the process? ; ) as along as the wife and kids weren't around. I believe HPA has that flex tune as well.
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
With kids I've transitioned from dropping F-bombs to calmly saying, "Well, I didn't see that coming." But you better believe I said it quite a few times.

I too have heard of issues with just upgrading the internals. I recently upgraded mine with IE and I'm also tuned by them. I'm running full e85 and after about a month I got a misfire and can't seem to find the issue. Changed plugs, coils and in the process of removing manifold to check injectors. Before I got the misfire on cylinder 4 I got the P2177 lean code but it went away. I'm thinking it's the injectors because I've heard the 2020-21 cars use Continental ones and they hate e85 and can go bad at 20k miles on regular gas. But part of me thinks it could be the HPFP internals I installed. Not to mention the connector on top of the HPFP has been somewhat damaged because of the bench vise I used. It's still connected and I drove with it like I said for a month with no issues but now the misfire on cylinder 4 is there along with the EPC light coming on numerous times.

wondering if you've had any hpfp related issues running IE's trueflex? i've been having some weird fuel/boost cut issues lately with the autotech hpfp and IE trueflex setup. many people have said that it could be a hpfp issue but i refuse to believe it, as i ordered the preassembled pump.
@Vaguh
@Vaguh Год назад
Personally I haven’t had any issues, but like you I’ve heard many stories of people having failed autotech internals and even pre assembled units. I have the IE HPFP kit waiting for me in the garage to swap into a new HPFP and install. Just need to find the time! Early on after I first installed the pump I was having some immediate issues, but IE was able to review my logs and resolve it. If you continue to have issues I highly suggest you contact IE support and they will guide you through the best way to get and send them logs for review.

@@Vaguh Thanks for always replying back to your comments!! this was really helpful. I'll definitely have to send IE some logs to see if they can give me insight on my problem. Thanks again!

Hi there mate, my mk7 r is stage 2 tune . If fitting the HPFP , do I need to let the ecu know change or it won’t matter , cheers
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
In my experience with the Integrated Engineering tunes, they have options for ethanol that require an HPFP upgrade, so I assume they've done something that tells the ECU that the HPFP can handle it. With my upgraded HPFP I've also run a non-ethanol 91 file from IE which specifies that I have an HPFP upgrade, but the tuning doesn't take advantage of it. Just make sure that whatever ECU files you're running are compatible with having an HPFP upgrade.

do you think a small engine valve spring compression tool would work??? GOOGLE - universal-overhead-valve-spring-compressor
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
I think it would, but the challenge I foresee is getting that device to grab onto the retainer unless you grab at the springs. The nice thing about the one that I referenced is that you can use it to tighten and slip the puller between the spring and the retainer for ultimate holding power. Does that make sense?
@dksaevs
@dksaevs 2 года назад
@@Vaguh you've actually done this so i'll have to let you know when i do my HPFP upgrade how i make out. i all ready own the valve spring tool. if i remember to i'll take a picture of it working or failing and how far the parts fly. ether way watching you struggle through the process has inspired me to upgrade my HPFP.

I think the only benefit of a valve spring compressor would be helpful when putting the new retainer on. Unless I'm not understanding the tool you speak of.

Would I be able to do this without a vise?
@Vaguh

I don’t think so. Getting that nut off take A LOT of force. Even an inexpensive 3” vise should do the trick if you can mount it to something stationary.
