A year ago I had watched your video as per a no start symptom I kept encountering, inferring it may have been because of the HPFP, I purchased the pump with the cam follower and never ended up actually installing it, just due to laziness and it not being such an inconvenient problem, the problem would get better then worse, but never fully went away. Until today, when it died on me running errands. Wouldn't start for the life of it. I remembered this video to a tee and had everything to do it in the trunk of the car including the part. Needless to say this video saved me from a HUGE headache I could've had if I hadn't been so worried about this being the problem. Replaced it and the follower, in a downpour nonetheless... but she's up and running great again. Thank you guys!

After a lot of research, I purchased the HPFP from you guys and used this video to replace it myself. This was the first time I've ever worked on a car in this capacity and you guys made it a breeze. Did it for $500 less than my mechanic quoted!

Wow, thank you so much for this video! My 2012 mkvi GTI just ran into this issue. With only 43k miles on it, I was quite disappointed, especially since that despite the pump being right on the engine block, it isn't covered under my 5 year powertrain warranty. I bought the HPFP from the dealer and installed it myself in just over an hour, saving me 500-600 dollars in labor that the dealer was going to charge me. I ran into the hard starting and wanting to quit issue with the P2293 code. Watched this video and then ordered the Bosch HPFP and cam follower from you guys. Installed it and am back in business. Thanks so much for the great video and having the parts at a good price!

Thank you Charles and Paul for amazing video. Thanks to you I didn’t need to pay $800 for pro shop to fix it and just paid for the parts. Just in addition, I disconnected battery before working on the pump. I also encountered rusty 30T bolts, I stripped one and had to use chisel to loose it up, but it worked. I changed pump as well as cam follower, it was a breeze. Unfortunately I didn’t have proper torque equipment, so I tighten everything by feel. And result? It worked. So, again, thank you so much for a wonderful video!

Old video, but super helpful. I was getting hesitation on acceleration and on WOT i got massive power reduction. ran my scanner and its to do with the HPFP. dreaded it as i assumed it was in the tank / difficult to get to... but this video has save me an expensive trip to the mechanic.

Hi, Great video. Thanks. My golf 1.4 tsi twincharged was running fine, just had water pump leak, so replaced water pump and also did the full service including spark plugs, engine oil, filters, dsg service, drive /serpentine belts and pulley changed. When I start the car, it started idling rough, no power at all, when press acceleration nothing happens instantly, then very slowly it speed up. Check the spark plug, which has done 1 mile hardly, they were black. All 4 got black. Few codes came up too, initially it was p000A , when I changed camshaft sensor it disappear and 2 other codes came on, p3008 and p0341. Then I put the old sensor back, then only p3008 remained. I replaced coolant temp sensor, thrust sensor, camshaft adjuster valve, put new spark plugs, but changed fuel filter. And also double each & every part for compatibility, bought from main dealer. After starting new spark plugs, I started and it was sane. I again check all plugs, they were all slightly black carbon on them, all 4 were in same condition. No oil, just black carbon. I was thinking may be I left any vacuum pipe back in? But if it was vacuum leak then it’s lean Condition and the spark plugs shouldn’t be getting black carbon on their tips. More fuel coming in as compare to air, that’s why I changed coolant sensor, Can faulty high pressure pump cause this condition, rough idling, misfiring (if look at exhaust), spark plug getting black with in few minutes of idling. Also can these symptoms caused by over filling of dsg oil? I put back same amount of oil (4.8 litres)which was flushed out ? Please help

Great video and advice. I have a 2009 VW Jetta 2.0t TSI suffers from P2293 fault initially and also caused P0222, B1301 and P0172 error code and hard to start issue. All resolved with the replacement of the high pressure fuel pump. Just one last note, make sure to check if you need the fuel line to fuel pump adapter when you order your fuel pump. Since older model had a different adapter.

Great video I'm about to do the job myself. I'm just curious if there's any other things needed to do afterwards. Start the car and let it idle for a bit? Drive it around for awhile? Clear the code myself..ect.

I've watched this video quite a few times. Good Video. I do have a question on why there really isn't many videos on the DYI aspect of this 2.0L TSI engine. I've taken off this fuel pump, and entire assembly that it fits into. Also have taken off the valve cover off to replace rocker arms. There is a metal gasket between the valve cover and the fuel assembly that I bent upon removal. I haven't found out where to purchase this piece - yet. I DO have ONE question. If I find some needle bearings in my oil pan. From WHERE do they come from? This has been a perplexing problem/issue for me. I've replaced the vacuum pump on top as well as worked on replacing the timing chain tensioner. There was still a ticking/tapping sort of noise near the fuel pump region. I also had a oil pressure light pop up the last time I had it running. Thanks so very much! Oh yea.The OBEleven tool is very useful for many VW's. As it has been mentioned, it's useful in an environment with internet connection. I also have another OBD2 reader that is very useful in pretty much every other vehicle out there, just not as detailed per VW. Again Thanks for all your videos. I thank you ahead of time to link-up and post some info on the top side portion of the engine. (I've 2008 TSI and FSI Passats)

As preventative maintenance at so how many miles should one swap out hpfp or do you have to wait till it goes bad? I think it would be best to swap it out when its working to prevent further damage. How about the cam follower?

hi guys. thnx for sharing. question. what was the reason for the high presure fuel pump replacement ? I often read something about fuel leakage into oil at 1,8 and 2.0 tsi engines. Is that the place where it most common happens? Or was it the lost of fuel presure in the rail ?

is that part called the "Holley fuel pressure regulator"? have a 2009 VW CC 2.0T. Error codes P2293 (fuel pressure regulator 2 performance) and P025C (fuel pump module control circuit low).

Two things you miss doing on the video: reduce the fuel pressure, and disconnect the negative part of the battery. Overall a good instruction on how to replace a high pressure fuel pump. Does it not need to be calibrated?

I needed a T20 to remove one screw (although it looks like it was made to attach with two screws) when removing the air box induction pipe at 2:54 on a 2011 VW GTI.

Wow, great video. I just installed it back when I replaced the vacuum pump but I didn't know about the roller check. As a matter of fact, I didn't see anything like that inside. Would it slide out by itself drop to the floor if I tilt the vacuum pump? If that is the case, I believe it the cause of this engine malfunction.

2013 VW CC Sport. 2.0 tsi. Standing at the front of the car, looking at the firewall. There are two heater hoses, outlet and inlet, horizontally running to the firewall where they are connected vertically. Does the right hose from your standing position go to the top and the left hose go to bottom, or vice versa? Please help!

Is it necessary to primp the pump with something like VCDS after performing this service? I'm replacing the fuel filter on my 2015 GTI and had heard that damage could result if the pump is not properly primed after opening up the fuel system. Thanks.

Watching this gave me the confidence to attempt it on my 2013 Audi Q5 2.0T. Even though my pump was on the back side and not the driver side, the job went well. My pump seal was leaking oil. The follower wasn’t worn like the older ones but I swapped a new one anyway. Thanks guys.

My 09 CC TSI 2.0T has Error code P12A2 (Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Inappropriately High). The shop has replaced the fuel pressure sensor but the code came back after 2 weeks. Any clue where to look at? Thanks! #ASKDAP show

Hey Deutshe Auto Parts. I have a 2006 Passat BWA FSI MOTOR. went for a drive and notice lack of power or boost while driving. And it seems to take a while to start sometimes and runs a little rough. Got a scan tool on it and got the fault Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve N276 Open Circuit P2294 No Signal No Communication Intermittent. Checked the wires for any Voltage with Ignition On. Was Receiving 2.485 Volts. Was just wondering if its ment to be 5 Volts Ref Voltage or 12V battery voltage. I have a feeling that there maybe a break in the wire but im not to sure right at this point. The Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve on top isnt broken and car was in a little accident at the front. Would really appreciate some help to Diagnose before removing and inspecting the HPFP. Thanks

Our Fuel Pump Fitting is different thread. Where would we get the male to male connector as shown in your video? How about the T30 screws?

Do I need a new fuel pump? The check engine light is on in my mk6 gti, and I am experiencing a loss of power up around 5K-6K rpm when I am really putting my foot into it. It only happens with these two circumstances - never at low RPM and only when the pedal is down - and only occasionally when both circumstances are present. The code it's throwing is "mass or volume air flow". Do you think I have a vacum leak or a bad sensor? Is it possible that the issue is fuel?

Planning to do this on a 17 Passat V6, looks like a similar job. However, fuel pump states "replace fuel lines with pump" but doesn't look like you really have to. Is this the case?

Does this high pressure fuel pump have common failures, or might it have a tendency to over-pressurize causing a DTC? This vehicle does have a code for high fuel pressure. I took my car to 2 mechanics but no resolution yet. Can faulty HPFP sends more fuel than required and not let engine to start instead get it flooded. Look to your reply,

Is that the CAW 2.0 engine? if so, the same HPFP can be used on the 08-09 model Scirroco (anything after that uses the CAWB or alternative engines, but the 200bhp model from 08/09 uses the CAW

2008 Passat 2.0 TSI, getting P119A followed P0171 later. Tested low pressure line, OK. Cam Follower looks OK. High pressure pump shows good pressure on scan tool. High pressure sensor seems to work as well, since I am getting good readings on the high pressure line. Symptoms: A bit rough idle on cold Hard cold starts occasionally Any advice? this part is extremely similar on my 2019vw passat 2.0tsi. however, it's as if the part does not exist. you can't find it anywhere. even vw doesn't have it. partsgeek has the follower roller thing, but that's it.
