VW Beetle 1972 Altaya 1/43 diecast miniature model

One of the longest running, biggest selling and overall important car in automotive history, the original Volkswagen Beetle in miniature form. Also famous car from Herbie movies. Additionally, small batch of VW Beetles were assembled even here in Finland in the 60's.
This model is in 1/43 scale, metal diecast casting and made by Altaya, modeled after pretty late version of the Beetle from 1972.
Sorry I was unable to get sharp pic of the interior, camera absolutely refused to focus through the windows in this model. You don't miss much though, as there's not much to see after all, the dash is quite simple, no speedometer decals or anything, just black plastic.

i also have a classic beetle in green (Majorette ) in fact I have the 3 different generation VW Beetle in green 😅 maybe I'll do a short video about that green trio

Sounds cool, looking forward to your video :) My 1/64 Beetle is blue, as seen in the last pic, and it's by Matchbox. Will show it later in detail. Next VW video is 1/43 Polo models, two of them.

I can remember that Dimi (YoungtimerOldtimer72) also had this model. He was mentioning to like the car but the colour was not his taste, hehe. He hated green so much. I'll not forget this. Very nice model - athough the interior is not so much detailed. But it's also pretty hard to see the interior as small as it is. Very typical colour on the VW Beetle. With this windshield it must have been the VW 1302. There was a more roundish aerodynamic windshield on the VW 1303 which also got a plastic/rubber covered dashboard. It took me a while until I figured out the difference of the 1302 and 1303 because the headlamps and tail lights were the same on the facelift and pre-facelift. For a while I believed the 1303 is the one with the big tail lights and the front indicators in the bumper but I was wrong.

Yes, green cars remind forever us from Dimi :) The basic shape stayed the same, but indeed there was smaller changes during the production run of VW Beetle. Small amount of VW Beetles were assembled even here in Finland in the 60's, but it was by different company, than Valmet in Uusikaupunki. VW Beetle is called here in Finland as a "VW Kupla", in English: "VW Bubble" :D

@@modelcarfinn Interesting to call it bubble. What makes me curious is what you called the Citroen 2CV. Here in Germany we called it duck. I heard in UK they didn't gave it such a cute nickname.

@@BFDdrives I guess it got the "bubble" name from the basic shape. Citroen 2CV got here a nickname after it's removable rag roof: "Rättisitikka". The word: "rätti" is in English: "rag", and "Sitikka" is just a nickname, easier to say for Finns than the official "Citroen" word :) I can see a bit of the duck shape in the 2CV, so that's nice and cute nickname for it :)
