Another good video, thanks. I have been putting the handbrake adjustment off for a while. Having to hold the handbrake hard up on hills in traffic, to avoid rolling backwards has become a pain. She is up in the air today to do check valve clearances. Good opportunity to do this.
The first image you show with the arrow pointing to pivot paw 1 that notched area should slide into the top edge of the tunnel correct. So when you have the lever down not pulled up it sits at a slight angle.. ??
My 67s e-brake is non existent the button to release and engage just springs out lol but I’m watching your videos to learn how to replace my master! Thanks
They sell the parts for them on all of the VW sites like Wolfsburg west and places like that. I tried to show in a prior video how it came apart and went back together. Thanks for taking the time to watch the videos. Much more to come. Here’s the videos to the master cylinder, part one and part two. I showed the important things to remember. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mAOizoHmtv4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HOKzRm_g4oA.html
Only the slightest amount. For some reason on video they appear tighter than they are. I think I’m going to do another film. I like a little bit of drag, but barely noticeable.
@@SladesVWBeetle that’s good. I’ve got to get around to finishing the cable to the front hood on mine. It separated from the material in the glovebox so I have to figure out how to replace it.
Question: I have a '79 Super. If you are on the driveway where there is a slight decline, and when the hand brake is completely released, the car should very slowly want to roll back towards the street, correct? Mine does not. Does this mean I need to get this adjusted? (I'm new to this stuff, btw...) Thanks!
Just redid my ebrake handle but when I pull the lever up it doesn’t click. I have to pull the lever up then push in the button and let the lever drop for the ebrake to engage. Any idea what is going on?
nice Vid Ive got to do this , Plus my Realse button has fallen out of the Pivit Paw Ive got to Reach down and flick it with my finger to release the Hand brake when Im on a Hill to Take off But the Handbrake don"t hold the car from rolling backward so Its Kinda a waste of time LOL Good visualiztion I know what to do Now cheers
So my handbrake on my ‘72 stopped working properly last night - it doesn’t click any more, and you now have to hold the button in then release it to lock the handbrake because it doesn’t click now. It also won’t completely release now either. Is this just cable adjustment, as the cable clearly hasn’t snapped. The rear brakes were adjusted up a couple of weeks ago by the garage who tested it, so they should be fine thankfully. Thanks for any advice you can offer. 🙂
Hello! Sorry for the delay! Check the small arm inside the handle. I can't post a photo right here, but if you email me. I can send a diagram on what to check and how to fix! sladesbeetle@yahoo.com
My Ebrake needs tightening - I probably have 10 clicks or so. Some one else adjusted the rear drums, I need to check them, to be sure. I used to do my own work so I know how to adjust. But my question - I have not looked at any specs or other sites. Why are the brakes dragging when the Ebrake is off?
Tim Dolan Well first of all thank you for being here and thank you for commenting. I would double check all of your brakes front and back for adjustment. It’s nice to have a full pedal. The brake drag before adjusting the emergency brake is very light. Just like you can barely hear the shoes touching the drum. And then of course just do the procedure I did with the emergency brake. I come up about five clicks. And that car will hold on a steep hill. Thanks so much for being here.
@@SladesVWBeetle I misspoke and wasn't clear. It appeared in your video 5:10 or so that at "click0" there seemed to be a lot of brake drag. In my days of old - I would spin the rear wheels expecting it to stop within one rotation or so. Your way would be quicker stopping but my way would be less shoe wear. hmmm, I guess quicker is better than frugal. thanks again.
Tim Dolan honestly everyone does it different. It doesn’t mean my Way is perfect. I like them a little on the tighter side. But then again not too tight to where you’re looking through your mirror and seeing smoke....😂
@ 0.56 "Be happy don't let things stress you out" but just earlier; at 0.35, you get all stressed out over a school bus driving by. hypocrisy is always hilarious.
