I have the same beetle but it is 2008. When I pull on the convertible switch I hear nothing. I did the factory reset and nothing happened. Any suggestions?

I would start with checking the fuse, then testing the relay, working my way to the switch, then making my way to the pump. I recommend, using a multimeter or a power probe. Test to find out if there's power in every part of the circuit.

What about if one clean the picktail with WD 40 specialist contact cleaner electrical parts for better contact? I wonder if that works before buying a new part.

This is great! I think someone replaced the switch at some point in MY convertible Beetle. I figured it was the pump in the trunk? But this gives me something to go after that is different. Great video much appreciated!

How much is the part? How much will it be for this kind of jod?

About $660 new used from Ebay $130 - $200 (The one I installed in the video was from Ebay.) Labor, I would say 2 - 3 hours. Most of the cost would be in the diagnostics and that depends on how quickly they find what is wrong. Replacing the part is about a 45 min. job. Every shop has a different labor rate, but average price $140 an hour. So about $420 in labor. This is just an estimate. Hopefully you can follow along on my video so you can save some money. I have a 2008 VW Beetle 2.5 S manual soft top convertible ( not electric) . The safety latches on both sides at the back in back windows do not lock down the roof once it's folded down in the back. Any idea on how I can fix the problem or find the latches ?
