@@MicBergsma you know something? That your channel and your videos inspired an indian moto enthusiast a lot , and now he is a you tuber and he got silver play button, his channel name is traction 4 (I hope you will read this comment)❤
Mic am from keral, india.... A youtuber mentioned u in her vedio.. Because he believe u make her more powerfull & confidential lvl💯... And am now realize u are the finest one😇❤
Hi bro . I am from Kerala, India. "Traction 4" is a youtuber in Kerala who said in a 'Q and A' video that you are his inspiration. So he recommended your channel❤️
Don't give up on it bro! My '65 Bus is in worse shape than this one, and I am not letting mine scare me! I do not weld, nor am I a certified mechanic, But determined-dedication is what I have in mind to get it back on the road. It may take years to complete, but I knew this before I commited to getting one. Hang in there with it...it's not as bad as it may look!!
@@MicBergsma omg you replied me..thankyou so much… i have a request for you brother please put a comment in traction4 channel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r0pmhvobmjg.html this is the video was he talking about you please put a comment in this video brother a humble request from your subscriber from india kerala
You have about as many subscribers as Ben, Leah and Alaska in Hasta Alaska. They have forged a very good channel on Patreon, which is making their “impossible dream” of driving around the world in an old VW bus, a reality. Your dream is just as possible as theirs is, Mitch. You have lots of friends like Robert Skinner, and lots more of us unknowns who really, really want you to see this project through to completion. Ya gotta go for it, brother!
I literally just stumbled upon this series yesterday and then I got to this video...Dude, I hope its not the last one. My heart would just crumble into pieces.
It may slow you down a bit but you CANT give up! I know you will find a way. Your so far into it! I just bought my first bus (1977) and picking it up August 30, 2019 (picking up in Arkansas and bringing home to Texas) I cant weld or do i know exactly what I am doing but you are my inspiration and I am determined to have a finished project and I feel you are too. This has been my dream since I was a little girl. I'm sooo excited
The best way to handle any large project is one step at a time. You can do it and learn along the way. In the end you’ll have a great bus and a load of new skills. So stick with it you’ve got this no need to worry.
A journey starts with that first step. I found a 21 window in a field 4 yrs ago in worse shape then yours. I was at first overwhelmed, didn't know how to do anything, but then I turned to RU-vid videos on how to weld, do body work and paint. It took me 2 yrs and $9200 total but in the end it came out pretty good. I sold it for $85,000. If you were in my home town I'd help you with it. You can do it.
I felt the same way when I restomodded a 52 Willy's Wagon, I am now completely confident on doing a full body off restoration and repairs. Just jump in with both feet and do it you will learn so much and remember you can use the grinder to fix any thing you mess up. To feel out of your comfort zone is when you grow as a person.
I wouldn't have been mad if there ads in this video to help you get Kona done quicker. Smart move finishing it on the mainland and then sipping it over once it is finished, you'll save alot of money and alot of headache doing that for sure. Hope we get Kona cruisin Maui videos in the coming year!
Mic! That car show was cool and that restoration shop was amazing! WOW! Maybe they can help you get it done? Great video! Can't wait for the next one. Hawaii looks like a beautiful place to live my friend! I love that AIRCOOLED shirt! =)
Thanks! Yeah! drooling at all buses at the show haha. I wish I own that shop haha! Finally we figured out the plan for the bus! We love Hawaii so much, more water activities for us and never get cold here haha :)
Very good choice moving to Hawaii, you will have a happier and healthier lifestyle there. Will be great to see your videos of your life there. Maybe you think think of the bust restoration as like renovating a house. You can't do everything like plumbing, carpentry, electrical. Instead, you just coordinate others to do the different things. We will be just as happy to see the bus completed regardless of how it is done. You can document its progress.
Thank you Maxwell! Warm weather all year round and a lot of water activities works very well for us. Good thinking like that... we finally figured out a plan and new video episode 10 is up finally :) Thanks for the comment!
Many of us are in the same boat as you. Don't feel alone. I can do everything but weld. Took many years to save up for welding on my '57 PGSG. Give your dad time to practice on some thin sheet metal. He'll get the hang of it. Metal pieces fit like a puzzle. Be there to encourage him and assist. Most of your metal sections are strait forward. Make sure the lower pillar sections and wheel arches line up. That's one of the biggest challenges. Otherwise the doors won't line up properly. You can do it!!!
HiMic !! according to my latest commentary, I`will just complete that with the following advice, The VW Factory build all those oldtimers just in one way the started with front mask and welded section by section in to the rear. So if you started with the front of your bus then you working to the rear rebuilding the bus started in the opposite way also from the rear to the front that`s the only way to do it.if you do not so you get some problems to fit the whole construction. I do hat to do it in the same way.so don't give up, in the end, you get the job done. I really do wish you all success with the restoration from Kona the Bus. Greetings from HCS Norway
@@MicBergsma Hi Mic you are very welcome.i visit your last video and you did a lot of work together with you Dad,I wish you al the best with the restoration of Kona the buss.greetings HCS
Dude keep the work going seems you have a lot of good people to call upon to give you the help and advice you need you know what the VW family is like 🤙🏻 I live in England and have been watching your videos I drive a vw Transporter T5 but my goal is one day to have and restore a splity so come on we need the next video
Whoa! You really made a lot of plans! I'm glad that you decided to move to Hawaii that's cool. I hope you find the information or right person for the welding job, Also I'm not a Volkswagen fan but with this kind of series I'm starting to become one of them! Great video as always! I can't wait to see episode 10!
Hey Derek, Hawaii is doing great we are happy over here and sucks that we left bus in mainland for now... episode 10 is up and finally figured out what we want to do :) Thanks for stopping by!
Ryan is HUGE and very keen observant while on the road trip! He's really watching out for you twos! Hehehe. Anyway, I am surprised to see the most of body, frames and floor braces still in better-than-expected condition. I would suggest making a list of what needs to be done then arrange them in priority order or in a group to do at a time. Perhaps do the larger project first then work your way to the smaller and smaller projects. For instance, getting the floor installed and prepped is probably first priority. Important: take deep breaths and relax!
i'm impressed!...wow, what a fun time, lots of driving ect...I love vw westfalia's. Tried to buy one here, but the man wanted $25,000 for it, even w/a trade in of my jeep which was a diesel jeep,(very rare), the car dealer would only give me $2000 off, so I said no, thank you, I don't think the man wanted to sell it that badly. Good luck w/the vw mitch & have fun! ty for the video!
Thanks Pat! Yeah crazy trip and everything. Wow $25,000 is kinda too much I guess depend on condition. There was a 73 westfalia three years ago selling for $10k in great condition with Subaru motor in it :) Maybe you could find one on thesamba for fair price? I love westfalia too!
Don't give up ! We follow from México and we know it need a lot of job....but Wen you drive your bus and make friends on the road any second ir was worth it !!
