I would actually fear for my life sat in that golf as a passenger! Squirming all over with that torque and just a guess but i dont think VW tested the aerodynamics at almost 200mph haha. Love it!
Just plain awesome!!!! Showing again how truly amazing VW's 4cyl engines are... Sadly, I lost my Dad to brain cancer a little over a year ago but I've kept his MK1 Caddy with a slightly warmed up NA 1.8L 8v pushing a mere 225HP at the wheels, alive and well as my "fun car " and as a rolling memorial to my amazing Dad (between us we've both had a lot of "fun/sleeper" watter-boxer VW's over the years starting when I was only 2 or 3 years old)... While it's certainly a far cry from these German Monsters, even that little truck is a BLAST to rip around in and surprise folks in supposedly "faster" cars with LOL. I'm tempted to drop a 2.0L 16v in it seeing as we're close with a very good VW tuner here in the PNW but that little 1.8L 8V (and the 1.6 Heron Nead motor it replaced) have just been so FUN, and the torque curve, for a sub-2L NA engine, makes them very comfortable and tractable as a DD even in stop/go traffic.
Hi, this reply may be late but first sorry about your father . The question is how in the world were you able to get 225 hp out of a 8 valve 1.8 engine? 🤙
Sehr beeindruckend.
The rider was shortshifting it all the way and a few missshifts. I dont think the bike would be faster though but it would be closer. It would be interesting to see you driving against a tuned bike, Nos or force induction - that would be awesome. Keep up the good work, boba. Cheers
Pfff, Cmon, I hate reviews like this. You did everything possible to give the car the MAXIMUM advantage on video, and still show the bike rider go slow to make the car look even better. Perhaps someone that's never raced bikes might be impressed, I'm not. I don't want to take away from the impressiveness of the car, but this video does little to gain credibility. Also, they started the race at what? 100-130kph? Why not start from 0? Yes, the car might "eventually" catch the bike due the overall gearing, but the car's performance certainly wont look so good when you can barely see the car in the bike's rear view mirror until 3km down the road. If you really like roll-on races so much, why not race against a bike with taller top end gearing, like a ZX-10, Hayabusa, or Ninja H2?
From where he shifted he had to be in 1st gear because he shifted 5 times in video. Either way that bike was not driven correctly because no one that even partially rides bikes shifts 5 times in 3 seconds and thinks he is racing anything. This video is false and the people who made it did a pretty bad job of making it look real. They should have stuck to passing cars doing 30 as it started.
jackies83 exactly my thoughts, its a cool and fast crazy car but do it vs a bike that can actually pull with you...this is putting a amateur boxer vs Ali or something lol!
What bike weighs as much as this car? Look at the hp to weight ratio. Assuming the car weighs 900 kg with both driver and passenger (just a number out of my ass) then it has 1.173 HP/kg. The bike, with rider of 75 kg weighs in at around 250 kg. At 182 HP it has 0.728 HP/kg. For the bike to match the power (and only power) of the car it would have to have 293.25 HP... not 1056 HP. IF the bike had 1056 HP it would be classified as a top fuel bike, going from 0 to 200 mph in less than 5 seconds, totally obliterating the car... However, this video just shows how a simple Golf has been rebuilt to whip a stock Yamaha R1 bike's ass. If you want to get all butthurt over that then why don't you strap yourself to a solid rocket booster and launch yourself into space.
@@Jacizzy yeah and now let's mod a SPORT car and not a 40 year old grocery getter econobox with the aero of a fucking wardrobe. and then we can try? We can keep going like that forever, in this case golf beat the bike just deal with it
I built a turboed 1984 GTI to produce about 275hp in the 80's. I tried all types of head sealing technologies from bite ring gaskets to slots and orings. It was amazing. So I know these motors somewhat. Here's the deal..... the R1 in this video can do this for years without breaking a sweat. This Golf will need a new engine constantly. Maybe every other run. Mechanically, it just can't hold up to those pressures exerted over the relatively small surface areas. 8 head bolts and 8 crankshaft cradle bolts. Even with a custom head and block with increased mains and head bolts, there STILL is not enough "meat" to hold it together for long. They may say otherwise, but physics rules regardless. That said, very nice build and fun extreme :-) Oh, and I can tell you that with only ONE passenger in the Golf, it would have been even faster as the extra passenger makes a big difference in a car of that weight.
Would love to see it against a turbo hayabusa! R1's aren't much meant for straight line stuff :) Nasty car for sure. Definitely didn't expect it to do that still.
@@pn5227 OT Could've and arguably should've been ridden by someone more experienced but do you really believe the outcome would've been any different. He gapped him by football fields slowed down grab a bite to eat then gapped him again, Lol. Now throw a snail on that bike and now we have a race.
Boba Motoring Oh, okay. I will wait for it, maybe you have sometimes the chance to compare with some turbo-bikes :D. Anyway, god damn fast Golf, lel. Did you ever trolled some Supercar drivers ?
+ScrockX1 Yeah i agree, Turbo-Racing bikes are piss faster than a golf, they are lighter, more smother in aerodynamic the car will be like a small little cookie and the bike will be the biggest bulldozer in the world.
+ScrockX1 it wasnt even close would beat a busa or a h2r but both bikes would only need about 25 bhp extra an a skinny rider like 10st rossi who actually knows how to tuck right down behind his screen unlike this guy ,
great! compare motor turbo with +1000hp vs a bike with less than 200hp ... the race was stolen! is obviusly what the car win ¬¬ .. Try with a Ninja H2R! The ninja turbo will catch u for the exhaust xD
+Max Fury I love both cars and bikes and I really appreciate fast, modified bikes and cars. I love the speed for money value of bikes and I also love a car that will go just as fast, if not faster than the fastest bikes (of which there are many) with the driver in relative comfort - sat back in an adjustable seat, able to adjust the temperature and shielded from the elements. - Absolute luxury compared to bike riders. What I'm saying is a 20 year old Golf with a big turbo and updated/strengthened internals beat the most popular 1litre sportsbike and the bike fans can't just see it for what it is. Unlike bike enthusiasts in similar circumstances, I would not be commenting like that because it wouldn't be a fair race (stock vs mod). But when you see e.g. Valentino Rossi win the GP you don't say, 'wasn't a fair race because his bike has this...' I know its too hard for you bikers to comprehend and accept, but the fastest cars in the world are faster than the fastest bikes in the world; around tracks and in straight lines. Yes on the road the average bike is faster than the average car, but you can only get so much power out of an engine capable of fitting between someones legs. F1 faster than GP Drag cars < drag bikes Stock cars < stock bikes - before you comment, the H2R is neither unmodified or even road legal.
+Oliver Craner Yeah... I want to see this Golf againts Yamaha from MotoGP.... :D It will be game over for the poor Golf :D It wont be able to beat F1 car... not to mention MotoGP!
Do you seriously think that GT1 car will defeat a MotoGP bike...? The bike accelerates faster and takes corners faster :D EDIT: Check the biker letting of the throttle... faking gear changing. Then we can talk again!
+Mustang Turbo Depending on the track. Around the Nurburgring, GT1 definitely. And an F1 car would beat a GP bike anywhere. Even if the biker wasn't riding the bike to its full potential, he was still giving it 95%+ and the car was way ahead anyway.
Interesting video and the work and time put into the Golf is admirable, thats some feat to get over 1000hp from a 2.0 engine, however, the bike appears to be in completely stock form as you would find from the factory and even so, it wasn't entirely embarrassed by the car, put a similar amount of work into modifying the bike and the tables would probably turn. Fair play to the Boba guys though, thats one hell of a Golf !!!
***** see you didnt read the whole story i told. You saw 100, instead of 150, and a 1000cc. But not the "traffic". Inside traffic the 150cc wins. Unless you are a stunt rider on 1000cc you cannot filter traffic that fast on a big bike compared to a smaller bike.
i think the riders shifting too early... yea but i never ride a motogp motorcycle.. only an exciter 150 with default ecu mapping and a 2000's honda megapro ( 160 cc ) so yeah haha
Yeah but if you crash at lets say 100-120 kph with the helmet on you will surive most of the times, without that you will smash your head into the rollcage.
Best golf design IMHO. Love the simplicity, and built like a tank for how light they are. Additionally, looks like the speedometer gave up on trying to keep pace with this car’s acceleration.
the fastest car in the world?? haha...go to tell that lie to another person lol...the race vs R1 is a scam...everyone can see the rev counter of the bike.....a great swindle....;)
Bike enthusiasts can't see this race for what it is. This is a race between a Yamaha R1 and a VW Golf. The bike is not a representation of the motorcycle in general and the same for the car. YES WE KNOW there are much faster bikes out there. THERE ARE ALSO MUCH FASTER CARS! Shut the fuck up with your ridiculously pathetic excuses and just appreciate this brilliant car.
+Oliver Craner It's funny man, Somebody beats a R6 in their car, and all the bikers are quick to say if it was an R1 or another 1,000cc bike it would have been a different story. Then a Car pulls on a R1, and the bikers start talking about another faster bike. We get it, Bikes are fast, but take the video for what it is, showing off a seriously fucking fast car. They all know how quick the R1 is, but instead of imagining a car that's quite a bit quicker, and how fun something like that would be. They would rather argue that there's a bike out that that's quicker.
+Zekkal like any race always something else out there faster yes this car is un real but it is a highly tuned car against a stock bike lets see this fool beat me on my busa turbo 350 bhp be a different story but yes this car is class and un real id love it cars are better is some situations bikes for others cars kill me on corners I win on straight but I also win in traffic and when police are chasing cars u get stuck in traffic to heavy at moment with everyone driving and bikes hell of a lot cheaper if I was a million aire fair play id have a car that is off its tits but I'm not so I have a bike off its tits and a mr2 turbo semi off its tits lol love this vid
BikersPOV lol u serious? i mean the golf has 10 times the hp and is also very light. has a masive turbo and goes 300 kph beast ecu tune and a ton of other sick mods. the r1 is also fast, in fact, its super fast,im also a rider and have ridden my bud's modded r1, but it's definitely not fast enough to beat ze golf
***** what are you talking about? the bitch was maxed out red lining at 15 k rpm hypersuperfastawesomewindpower he upshifts well above the powerband on the rpm range.. its a rolling start, when they start racing, the rider twist his hand super hard and away they go
Dan Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele You're right "that" golf has 10 times more hp than R1 but think about it, you have to strip down entire car, spend AT LEAST 15.000 € to make what? A 30 year old car faster than a motorcycle! I like stock R1 better that any tuned car, but everyone has right to it's own opinion.
+Boba Motoring (Boba Kettler) It's flat out and maximum speed. By the way, will that golf do 300kph? (the restricted speed of the bike) If so, what gearing does it have.
"sorry yamaha but no chance?" What tha fuck is this???? Serial Yamaha and super tunning (modified) car and you saying sorry, no chance? Modified moto vs modified car and then we can see what's happened
kijciu And if the Yamaha is moddified, you will be the first person who wouldn´t believe it. So better race against a stock bike, only for show how fast the car is. ;)
kijciu That is not our target to race the fastest bikes, it was only for show. Because everybody know how fast a bike is and nobody know a difference to a modified bike.
i see you're a biker, you're complaining about "rolling" and "in a straight line" if this was a dig the golf would fucking destroy the r1 with it's 4 wheel drive and if it was a road course... well... same story, 4 wheels to grip the tarmac instead of just 2...
What a car!! A friend had an insane Mrk 1 golf and it was so dangerous it was funny as hell to be in.. this Golf would be certain death but that's what I love about the car.. 👌👏
Can it carry two people in safety and out of the weather? No. They're two different modes of transport that have pros and cons and this guy just wrecked the R1 by eliminating one of those cons.
+Flying Bigfoot - That still doesn't take into regard that this is a stock r1, vs a heavily modified golf. Modify the bike just as much as the golf and see who wins. Although i can understand that this video is simply to show how fast the car is, and that it's faster then a stock R1.
well isnt a r1 a sports bike so it is tuned and a golf is a fuel efficient car and this video is not called r1 is garbage vw ftw. he compared power to weight ratio and they are similar.
iam not impressed, there is not a challange for the MK1 to beat a standard bike like that... if this Mk1 was racing agenst this bike --> vimeo.com/24028363 then i would call it a race...
+Boba Motoring (Boba Kettler) srry but you dont know about bikes. The hayabusa is one of the fastest bikes in the world. Can go over 400kmh and its not for "weelies" please read wikipedia or watch some vids before talk. Anyways the VW Mk1 is really AMAZING im sure it can win a ferrari or lambo. Sorry about bad english jajaja
Overtuned Car with everthing torn appart until it weights about 1ton vs stock motorbike fresh from the local vendor. Sick shit, I wonder who will win. A look at the data sheets make this "race" unnecessary for any human with average education. Why dont you make a Video Matchbox Toy Car vs Combatjet?
