Can you make a video of the correct rpm for ideling, setting of timing. My chico runs a bit when is switch it off, and i cursoise to see what should be the ideling rpm be
A friend of mine had a Golf mark 1 many years ago. Every puddle was a potential engine staller ! I dried the electric components off once with a sock ! I find that the mark 2 is not as sensitive as the mark one !
Hi! Great video. 😊My VW Citi Golf has ALWAYS cut out immediately if I drive through a puddle, and doesn't start again until the next day. This time I haven't even driven it, but it's been standing in the rain... And the engine won't even turn over. We've tried jump starting it -- still nothing. Lights and panel display come on though. If it won't turn over, just nothing, does it mean that this time it's not the water? Battery tester says 14.
Firstly if that happens again .. try kick starting it (push)...also get some Q20- onto your electronics.... Moisture can hang around for a few days in cold weather
Also suggest giving a squirt to the two fuses next to the battery on newer models. Had an issue where my chico just died on me on the highway dead dash not even showing odometer. The fuse blades were not making good electrical contact due to some moisture causing surface corrosion.
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy Good morning guys, I'm having a problem with my golf 1 chico carburetor, its loses power when you drive up, difficult to start sometimes. I changed mechanical fuel pump (Meyla), fuel separator, distributor coil and rotor, also cleaned the 2 big fuse. Can you please advice.
That's strange..I know that condensation can cause that...under the oil cap in cold weather.. Is your dip stick sealing sufficiently ..maybe check that, otherwise check if you loosing coolant
Hi PJ, golf mk1 same as your one, trouble starting at night , I pull out and close the choke and even give it some pumps on the accelerator and it battles to start Have to push start almost every night Any tips ?
What to do for me if my carb is consuming too much petrol? Also what to do if my mk1 jacks and cut of on high gears or when too much power is required on hills? Could it be plugs?
Had similar intermittent issues in my 2007 chico 1.4 going up hills on a hot day also suspected vacuum leak... Figured out it got vapour locked due to a bad feul pump diaphragm not flowing enough fuel.
Hi PJ. Please assist on any tips you might have I want to fully wash my engine bay but don't know how or which components to stay away from. 🙏🏽Thank you in advance
Just cover up the coil and module ,and the distributor with some plastic..or you can just spray Q20 as I have shown in the video .if if water gets in ,the Q20 will ensure you don't have starting or running issues lata
Hi PJ, really having issues with my MK3 Jetta 1.8 carb model.....in the mornings it really battles to start, this problem recently stated, but once its started up it doent give me the issue durring the day....i am in KZN so its not cold weather.
Check all electronic components like coil, plug leads, plugs, distributor cap, rotor .. How long is it on the engine?. Plug leads for example has a lifespan.. And sometimes they still look good... But may not be effective anymore, , and cause misfires on cold starts
Hi could a faulty base plate cause my car to use like double the amount of petrol it normally does? Or could it be something else causing my car to use so much of petrol?
Worn or bad base plate will cause higher consumption because of the extra air being drawn in due to the air leak... That air basically leans out the fuel mixture, so overall it will use extra fuel..
Not sure if u mean it would not crank at all...but you could also have a starter solenoid problem Do have that checked out too..Try to push start it also
Hi.. You run it on choke for a minute or two.. And then drive off. you don't have to wait for it to warm up.. Just push in the choke bit by bit as you drive.
Hi there Q20 Has been around for many years... Have you never tried to use it on a wet distributor or coil... It is very good.. Try googling it for more detail.
For the battery terminals rather use Vaseline. Q20 makes the lead terminals more susceptible to breaking...for a more resilient waterproofing agent on starter etc, in use tectyl. Midas has them for r100 a can.
