Volkswagen golf, citystromer was originally fitted with an electric motor together with a five-speed gear box. Sadly the original motor was gone for many years ago and that’s why I will try to restore the old feeling of the car, but with a new motor and a modern charging system instead, so it will be much more usable with today’s standard. I really hope that you like this video and please subscribe if you want to see more of them.

I used the same vac pump in my conversion with a sensor from a Volvo. The sensor turns off the pump when it reaches the correct pressure and it works great. I know of a guy that just connected the pump to his brake light so it comes on every time he hits the brakes. For a heater I used one from a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as some of the guys in Openinverter had already created a controller for it. I haven't used it in winter yet but so far it's working great.

Looking great. The Tape in the UK is made by a. Company called Tessa, its exactly the same. I spent quite a few hours wrapping the whole of a CE2 loom while it was removed from the car. It looks great when done, far better than factory. To clean the wires I used Baby Wipes from Lidl. They dont damage the wires and really clean them up. Baby Wipes seem to be universally great at cleaning lots of car of home things.

3:24 - the coolant must have not much to do I guess cause otherwise there would be space for another line to a heatexchanger inside the car to benefit from the heat inside. I know you had said it will not become a daily driver and therefore most likely not so much used in the winter which means that the resistor heating I guess used before might be an easier and more reliable solution cause nothing has to be changed inside. Changing the heating system would cause a lot of additional work. I really like these progress explaining videos covering the details up to the colour of the brake lines and optimisations. Looks like you might also get a super modern frunk based on the current space available on the left from the engine (orientation based on the driver seat). Every time you show a picture of your Mark 2 after replacing the 650 kg lead acid with a lithium battery of half the weight it reminds me of the COUNTRY GOLF, those 5000 country golf as 4x4 built at the end of the 80s where the chassis was also raised a lot. Back then when they had been sold and appeared for the first time I had wondered who would ever buy such car till I realized the need for 4x4 in austria and switzerland for certain people that need such car to get home again during winter. I still wonder when a VW dealer will come and ask you to lend that anchestor of the modern id family to his dealership for a presentation and comparison how electric golf had looked like in the dawn of electrification. VW CEO Schäfer has already announced that there will be a new generation of the GOLF and that this will become an EV only (not based on the ID plattform as you could read between the lines) which will increase the attraction and value of the city stromer too.

shift linkage wise... look up 3104 Shift Linkage Gauge -020 .. thing it you let the gear stick set in the position. with the tool.. gearbox in nuetral.. and the main Rod. bolt and clamp is lose.. once both in position tighten it.. and it all set! (y) its the same a Mk3 (which i drive me entire life so far while being 37) an works a charm (y)

I couldn’t understand what you said about something in the pipe to stop water being pushed back into the expansion tank but the expansion tank should be experiencing suction from the main pump. A friend built a kit car and had problems with water being pushed back into the expansion tank when the filler cap was removed and the engine was running. The simple fix was to move the expansion tank hose T about 12 inches closer to the water pump inlet.

Drossel is a kind of reduction/reducer and is a word that i often use when I work with older air conditioners. I can understand your confusion😅 sorry. Yes, I’m aware of the problems, I have also done som test earlier and I will try to explain that in a later video. Thanks for the input👍🏻😃

Hello, did you consider use of Webasto air or water type heater? With water heater you can even warm up main batteries. They only use about 01.1 to 0.2 liter of fuel per hour...and no more room for cold in the car, for sure..👍 Thank's for your never too long educational and inspired videos. Best regards.

Hi, yes i really did! The car is actually equipped with that from the beginning. But I decided pretty recently to go with the electric one. Might use the leaf heating plates as the batty heating. Thank you so much for the input😃👍🏻

0:39 - looks like a VW emblem had made its way on the engine too. I had watched yesterday the last 8 videos or so all one day and now another update already. Big, big progress and so much passion for the details. I can not wait to see you riding it but still a long way I guess, but every part you had touched looks great like the carpet and door panels cleanded by ice - for me yesterday.

Hi, thank you so much for your very informative videos, you have made an amazing ev conversion. I'm also starting an EV conversion, just wondering what are the dimensions of the Leaf motor stack ie height, width and length.

One day you would start a project, put a dsg transmission to an ev! I believe a gear box would i 3:06 ncrease 3-4 time the range of any ev!

I wonder, what will you need to do to "legalize" the car once it is ready. Is there some process you'll need to execute to be able to get approval of road-worthiness? How about insurance?

I am working on that. There is two ways one long and expensive plus a lot of extra work, and one short but hard witch I am working on. And that is to try to have Volkswagen to give me an approval to use this setup. The weight is reduced and the gti has almost the same power and torque. I spoke to them this week and it sounds promising. But it will probably take time.

HI Thanks for the reply but I guessed I asked the wrong question. I need the measurement form main shaft (mating to the transaxle) to the top of the whole motor stack - checking for clearance to the hood. Thanks Jack
