As another filling alternative, can I fill the transmission oil over the top of the oil filter opening with a funnel?

good video but I think you're missing a part while after fulling with 6literes, on running engine you change gearshift position for each (P, R, N, D/S) for few seconds that oil can go through mechatronic as well

does level check need to be done with engine running ?

did these gearboxes have a recall for faulty hydraulic pumps ?

Have you got a part number for the filling tool/adapter please?

Manual states to set the level with the overflow pipe 2 turns out, once set screw back in and fit drain plug with new washer.

How much is the surplus that discards?

Hey JCR, great video, I have a Cupra 290 (2019) with the same drivetrain as this including the DQ381 and as you mentioned there is very little online about servicing the 7 speed, so this has been really helpful as I'm at 44k so it needs doing! Will defo be hiring a ramp for it though! Looking forward to future vids.

Thanks for video. Did you unscrew the overflow thingy for about two turns like it says in the vw manual. Aren’t you worried that your gearbox is a bit overfilled now? I’ve seen videos where they unscrew it and then wait until the excess oil kind of gushes out every 30 seconds. I’ve read that vw/skoda/seat has had underfilled dq381 gearboxes from the factory. Have you heard of this?

My golf DSG7 was broken at 130000km, I changed it then again it was broken at 207000km 😢. Knowing that I didn't make serive for the new gearbox since the first repair

I did my fluid change under the impression i had the 6spd box, knew my car was 7spd but didnt know that the procedure was different also didnt know that there even was a 6spd so when finding procedure i assumed they were showing me the 7spd. I never opened the 2nd plug you showed, only the bottom one. Drained. Filled 5.8-6ish L of fluid (little spillage ) and then got up to temp 38C. Let drain until bubble/drip. Am i running on too much oil? Is there any risk? Should i double back and redo my fluid change? Thanks for any advice.

great video ! i owe passat alltrack 2018 tdi 190 HP. I assume it has the same transmition. is servicing (and what kind of) necessary on every 60.000 km or 120.000 km ? thanks in advance !

Does this method (or DQ381 gearbox) allow to empty gearbox completely or does some old oil remains in the unit? Was this design changed from previous/6-speed DSGs to be able to drain it completely without flush changing the oil?

Out of curiosity are you able to comment on what condition the oil has been in on these model of DSG7 gearboxes when changed at 40k in comparison to the predecessor DSG6 at the same mileage.

How does the mechatronic unit get refilled? Does it get supplied from the main box when that’s filled?

Can this be done with dsg7 dq 381q frontwheel driving cars ? I own seat Leon mk3 190hp dsg7 dq381q clocking and 4 years 35000km I'm planning dsg service at 50 000km...

Hi, i just did oil service on my dq381 and they only filled 5liters of oil how its that possible they checked the level its ok??

Has anyone tried an alternative to super expensive VAG oem fluid? Was thinkinging febi / millers / westway for about a third of the price

better off doing this on a ramp rather than axle stands? seems like it would be really hard to do on axle stands

Does every Golf 7.5 (for ex. 150 horse power) has DQ381 DSG or is it only for Golf R/GTI ?

And I'm guessing you dropped the overflow plug by two turns and cycled through the gears to fully distribute the new oil off camara, right? 🤠

Good video. Just also add that when setting the level, the red plug needs to be finger tight and then unscrewed 2 full turns. Then run up to temp and let the excess drain. When it stops flowing, tighten the red plug back in and then fit the sump drain plug.
