One of my favorite hidden features is actually on the key fob itself. If you double tap and hold the unlock button when walking to your car, it will open all of your windows. Though you need to set it in the vehicle settings. Its called convenience opening under windows or something like that. You can have it open the driver or all windows. Really neat quirk imo
Yup! Very common feature for many vehicles, even back before key fobs were a thing! My old Pontiac could do the same thing if you inserted the key into the door lock and held it in the clockwise position for a couple seconds. Kinda useless in those times, but very useful to have it on newer vehicles and be able to open all windows from a distance and air it out on a hot day as you're walking up to your car.
You can also do the same with closing the windows using the lock button for when you leave the car, means you don’t have to turn the ignition on and it’s easy for when someone forgot to close their windows
Minor one but if you use two fingers and tap on temp up/down, it'll turn on the heated seats. It cycles through normally (3-2-1-off) no matter where you touch though. So there's no going from 2 to 3 or 1 to 3 without going past off.
The right side works because it’s meant to be a curb spotter, which you’d only need on the right side in the US. Also, you can adjust the positioning of the reverse mirror option.

This guy's really cute🤭. Wouldn't these "hidden" details magically become unhidden if owners just read the manual after getting the car? Is it because of some outdated regulation that Golfs in the US don't have the really convenient "Auto Hold" feature for the park brake? It's a bit mean that power folding mirrors are not standard, as they are in other countries.

@@deanspeer2219 that’s a ridiculous gift. why not make kids actually work for nice things. i got a 6500 dollar that i paid half for after my first car blew the transmission. worked my ass off from 17-20 and just got myself a mk8. crazy that people get things like this given to them for something as easy as graduating

My guess is that here in the states we would usually parallel park with the passenger side to the curb. I wonder if it’s the reverse in Europe spec cars. 😆 would’ve been simpler just to make both go down.
When my big bro was driving my grandpa's car to fetch my mom at the work then now he was in an accident now a few months later my mom brought my grandpa this car and when he drives it to church and my brother drives to fetch my mommy and when we go to other places, everyone is like looking at my grandpa's new car and maybe they are completely confused that how is that grandpa driving a fast car when it's for young tean/young adults and like bro that time at church when my grandpa out he saw the people plus the passter all around the car and praying almost like they want it lol (Btw sorry for the long comment)
@@tr1ckster726 in the EQ settings you have the presets, I always have mine to the little lightening bolt to the far right, and then tap a different preset and go back to the lightening bolt.
Another great video as always!! If it is the same as Audi, when you're in reverse, it will save the mirror position if you lower it further! So everytime you reverse, it will dip down to that position. I'm taking delivery of mine THIS WEEK!! Can't wait to try these features out!
I currently drive a Mk 7.5 Golf R & taking delivery of my Mk8 Golf R next week. Prior to my current R’s I’ve owned/driven two GTi’s & three Audi S3’s. I can confirm the reverse mirror dip function is identical in the Audi & Golf’s that I’ve owned. The mirror only dips on the nearside (passenger side). This is because a driver should have a clear enough view of the curb closest to them whilst parking without needing the offside (drivers) mirror to also dip. Hope that makes sense?! Before anyone asks me: in my opinion the R has the edge over the S3…it’s close, but it just nudges the S3 out of pole position 😂👍

i luv the yellow fog overlays i had them put on my 23 gti as well luckily badgeskins here in Ontario isnt far from me I also over layed the lite bar the same yellow as fogs looks great u should do it too
Hey Shep. With both my 2022 and now 2024 Golf R 6 spd manual, the interior lights by the sunroof switch actually are dimmable, just tap and hold your finger on it. No swiping
Got a 23 20th Ann Golf R. How do you get the clock to keep the correct time. I have tried both auto set and manual. When I least expect it the time changes to some weird time zone. And is it normal for the scroll to lag when searching through ipod songs on a playlist? My 2019 Golf R scrolled through music with precision and allowed you to loop back through a playlist once you reach the 1st song.
Awesome congrats! Right now the clock is off an hour for all mk8 owners and yes that is normal. The mk8 infotament isn’t the best. So it’s normal. Just takes some getting used to.

You can have the base model GTi , S trim with DSG here in USA for under 33k. My son dislikes sun/moonroof and wanted a plaid seats. Only choice in US is S trim.
Hey Shep, discovered your channel awhile ago and love your content as it feels like i have someone who shares the excitement and also frustrations of the MK8. 😁 Im sorry if you've maybe already covered this in past videos but just wanted to check with you if its the same situation as ive noticed that in my MK8 the convenience entry seats cannot be disabled, and the reverse camera is slightly off centered. 🤔
Awesome. I’m glad you found me! I actually haven’t, I know the seat can be disabled in the car settings. As for the backup camera mine is perfectly fine. Haven’t heard of that issue. Might be worth posting that on a form.
I just bought a 2023 40th Ann w/DSG auto. (my 4th VW and 3rd GTI). I know they improved the suspension but am thinking the rear sway bar could have been tighter from the factory. Suggestion- Have you thought of adding a performance rear sway bar ( Golf R or aftermarket)?

Hello, to be honest with you I’m not too sure. I know the cluster is configurable so I would just play around with it to see if you can get that pattern. It could be related to that mine was one of the first few off of the line so it’s a very very early us model.
