VW ID 3 HONEST review 2022 - NO ONE EVER TELLS YOU THIS! 

owned a id3 for 6 months now, never got it to charge faster than 60 kw... even on a warm day at a 300 kw charger where i'm the only user

iD3 owner for 2 years now. Real world range varies dramatically depending on the ambient temperature. Mine goes from just under 3 miles per kWh when it's cold (sub 5c), to just over 4 miles per kWh when it's warm (above 15c). That gives me a theoretical range of anywhere between 140 and 220 miles. Two things you have to factor in though, (1) Maximum battery capacity is not the same as 'useable capacity' (the car stops you using all of it, so my 58 kWh is more like 52 kWh) (2) It is recommended that you only charge to 80%, so that brings the range down further to between 120 and 180 miles.

Normalization of audio in 32 seconds is craaazy baad!!! I almost was not able to hear your voice and music during intro almost killed my ears! Sorry I had to stop watching there. No more surprises for me!

To be 100% honest I am disappointed that you have trotted out the exact same mindless criticism of the touch controls. Firstly, do you think everything being controlled through a series of menus on a touch screen is better? Really? Secondly, you can slide the heat and volume controls left to right / right to left, not simply touch. Thirdly, it takes a very short time to learn the controls of any vehicle. Having watched so many reviews of cars and then tried a few of those cars I am disappointed that reviewers obsess about small "preferences", big up certain brands regardless and live in world of their own self importance Nothing is perfect for everybody but equally the ID.3 doesn't merit the pathetic repetitive and unoriginal criticism it gets from lazy, low rent RU-vid hacks.

No one mentions the reduction of CO2 emissions as important.

The facelift of this model is going to have a vastly, improved infotainment screen and much better material quality, given how the head of product development was let go very soon after the ID3 was launched, and how Volkswagen now have a new CEO, many heads rolled when this car came out. It’s not as good as it could have been.

I have a 2023 id3 and it’s the biggest load of crap I have ever owned. Yeah the drive is ok and pretty good around town. Now the bad stuff. Since I’ve had it it, warning lights have been coming on intermittently, every 2 weeks or so, the warning light meaning stop the car, take to of to workshop, risk of fire is one of the lights. My local VW dealer has had the car for weeks at a time and can’t recreate the problem. This is despite numerous dated photographs of the display with warning lights on. Additionally when the warning lights come on I lose a lot of functionality including not being able to put the car in neutral, or reverse. The only way to stop it is 2 switch if for several minutes and then back on. Great when you are stuck at the side of the M62. Don’t by one they are rubbish and I’m stuck with it

Very misleading title on this video. I have seen a MASSIVE amount of yt videoes about the ID.3, just bought a 3 year old one for 2 weeks ago. And there is nothing in this video that other people haven't been saying for the last 2 years about the ID.3 .. 2 years from the date of this video.

15k miles into ID3 204ps 58kwh - range is 240 summer to 180 winter - always in sport mode.

I have a life pro performance, currently my long term efficiency is 4.8 M/KWh that does drop in winter. I have seen 260+ miles for 100% charge with over 110 miles left after a 165 mile journey on motorways and A roads. I can get over 5 M/KWh on my home-work-home drive (about 40 miles town and countryside driving). The best charging rate has been over 100KW but this dropped quickly as the state of charge increased. I might be an outlier here but I like the haptic buttons on the steering wheel and console, and would be sad to see them go.

We have owned our id.3 now for about 12 months. Driven about 10 thousand miles mostly around town but we have been away in it about 3 times now. The range has been fantastic up until this very cold weather. The range has halved com paired to summer driving so plan ahead if your travelling during these cold months. We are so glad we chose the id.3. Its been very reliable and the quality is great. The perfect all rounder. Best feature on the car is the defrost option on the app. Defrost the glass and warm up the interior from the comfort of your home.

I own an ID3 and the range that VW is saying you have remaining is complete fiction. On a motorway, the range drops like a stone.

You obviously haven’t driven it at night in the rain and spotted the blind spot driving around a roundabout.

When quoting battery capacities, please get your units right : 58 kWh (kilowatt hours), a unit of ENERGY. When you quote the electric motor output, use Horsepower PS (204). 201 B.H.P. is a very old unit. It's like mixing up inches and metres.

VW has a nasty habit in pushing products onto the market, which have not been fully tested/developed yet. Just wait a couple of years and then the EV's from VW will hopefully give less trouble... (and have a lower salesprice!).

hi i have an id.3 and luv it but tonight as i was driving home the kwh dial went bananas showing 5.8 the 7 then 12 then 13 then 99 then -99 ?????

Charging mileage varies. But changing anything on the screen you have to stop Those awful sliders!

Depends how you drive the car and the roads you use. In Summer 4 miles per kwh is achievable but not on motorway (3.6 ish at 60 mph). Real range is 230 to 240 miles maximum with the 58 kwh usable battery. Switching air con off will increase range in summer and in winter makes a massive difference but you can't run the fans without air con or heating on. In winter always pre-heat the car via the app when its plugged in charging.

I love the ID3. Leased one now for a year through ONTO. I drive mainly motorway every day and it hasn't put a foot wrong yet. I average around 220 real world miles in summer and about 170 real world miles in winter. Both at %100 battery level. I will however be taking delivery of the new MG4 trophy all electric in March so hopefully it's every bit as good.
