Drove my EV6 to West Cork last week, 100 per cent charged when I left home in Leixlip with 2 other adults on board and recharged when I was at just 23 km and at that stage I had driving about 540 km ---------------- No AirCon on and driving in Eco all the way
My id5 has 450 km range at 120 km/h on European autobahn. From Prag to Berlin last week with 17 kwh/100 km and 23% remaining after 350km. City and driving not faster than 90 km/h is more than 600 km range.
I have been driving my id5 max full tec pack for 6 months now and is brilliant. Better comfort, better build and riding quality and more quiet than model x I had previously. DCC is great. I tested range with temp between -2 - 6 degree and with heat pump, no eco mode, no air con but auto air mode. I get average 2.4 miles/kwh, around 200 miles mixed motorway and city in UK. That is great consider it only has 77 kw battery. I get 3.5 - 4 miles/kwh, 260 miles mixture use in summer. Software is currently on 3.0 and has slow response but really doesn't bother me because I only probably spend 2% of my time use it and rest of the time driving. Full driving assist is similar to auto pilot on Tesla and works brilliantly, personally I feel safer in ID5 than model x when auto pilot mode is engaged. Not many ID5 max is around in the UK at the moment and hope my 6 months driving experience could contribute to the EV community.
70k unbelievable, driven volkswagon nearly all my life , quality has disappeared in recent years , replaced by boring, cheaply made , bad quality plastic cars . 70k for basically a stretched golf with no engine or range , sad days we're living controlled be eco craziness
jesus 21 thats a heatwave in Ireland , what do you think will happen on same run for the deep winter months with heating and heated seats blasting out with a family of 2 adults and a 15 and a ten yr old with a little luggage on board ?
Been running the ID.4 version of this car now for the past few months. Drove it out of the garage with 605km but after 5k kms and a lot of motorway mostly with short shop hops inside that realistically it’s in the 420-430 range. What is a joy though is filling it with sunshine for free. The range meter is easy to confuse and I hope for a big improvement once SW v3.0 comes out.
Dear All, I am owner of an ID 5 Pro (single engine) since 2 weeks. At 120/130 km/hr I made 440 km with 8% battery and 36 km reserve! I am surprised and satisfied with this performance!
Shocking result in good weather Derek. Considering the hit it’ll take in winter with heating. Also no one ever does these test with another adult as passenger and 2 kids in the back. And a boot full of gear. 70 grand is just insane. It would have been something I’d consider getting an electric car as a second car but with the wife working from home now we’ve gone with a Gti As our run about 😂 42mpg at best and if need be up and down to Dublin in 1 tank.
I've found that the 120km Motorway is certainly the biggest difference in range for sure. I've started doing 110 and it really gives the range a lot more.
@@jonathancullen1337 regardless of what Toyota cars are more reliable than the German cars, including the vw id4 in the long term. That’s why I’m getting one….the bz4x 73 plate.
Top Video Derek I have the GTX 7 Weeks now and I've yet to do a long trip on it but its nice to know that they will do more or less the range predicted. Watch out fir my 8 Week opinion review coming up on the Shed. Kind Regards
70K Euro. Civil servants and doctors cars. Do like the interior seats though, dash is truly awful and simply not worth 70K, electric or not. Can I suggest some commuter runs. How many return trips per full charge to Navan to Dublin, Newbridge to Dublin and Arklow to Dublin etc.
Great video. From comments EV6 seems better. Also better price. Yes more videos like this. Is there any way of showing speed and range left when on the road? Good broadcast with Jess, missed the one on The hard shoulder. Keep pluging the required infrastructure, and price. Ps did motorway to Dublin and back on Monday in 2008accord diesel. Said 4.7l per 100km. Car gave a range of 1200km when full but only got 1000km. So guessometer is ~20% out in my ICE car. How come no one seems to notice this. 🤔 Thanks Derek Des
Thanks Des. The EV6 may be better with aero and the South Koreans are very good with battery efficiency. Thanks, enjoying the live radio slots at the moment. Re the efficiency of ICE vehicles, it's one I'll keep in my back pocket for sure
Slightly disappointing range Derek wouldn’t you say, given the favourable weather conditions. I think some other EV’s would be more efficient at motor way speeds, BMW’s probably and Tesla’s no doubt. Disappointing also considering the ID.5 is priced towards the premium end of the EV market.
Hi Derek, Cheers, enjoyed that, will be doing 120kph all the way to Kerry next week so will know more after that, spent last week @ 70mph driving on English motorways across the country. Was nice to see GOM match actual milage covered last week. UK CCS capacity so much better and contactless payments on all so no daft apps nor fobs needed. Nearly all of the shiny new chargers were CCS only. The tide is flowing in the right direction for transition era. ID5 seems an ID4 coupe but still 4 door, otherwise seem almost identical cars. Was mega impressed with travel assist. One funny one, need to disable anti-tow alarm when on a car ferry so 12v is not flat after a sea crossing. DCC made the ride really comfy on the decaying brexitistani roads.
Good video..i just bought the VW Id4.....not sure if most would drive with 0% range. Used the ionity charger in Athlone from roughly 16% to 85% came to e38 very expensive it took around 25 mins...
Thanks! I just took a road trip in the trusty 2017 e-Golf in hot (35-40 C) weather, driving at 101 kph and got 11.6 kWh per 100km for a 166 km trip. That’s why I never go near 120 kph.
Good review Derek, Have an ID.4 GTX since April and averaging 16.5KWh over 7,000 Km of driving so happy with that. When I have been on motorway, I have noticed 120KM speed limit really hits consumption so have stuck it at 110 KmH in cruise control which seems to help.
Normally I do 100km/h but I had viewers commenting saying it wasn't real world. I'd rather have a slightly longer journey with the extra range if I'm honest
