Thanks, always liked VW Jetta design too. They had pretty spacious trunk for a Sedan body style, which is practical.

I always liked the VW Jetta Mk2 - especially with the big GL bumpers from 1989. It looked so much more elegant with it. At the Golf I didn't like these GL bumpers so much. It looked on the Jetta really better. Once I wanted to buy a VW Jetta Mk5 - but the VW dealership refused to sell it to me. They wanted to finally sell the Mk6 model which parked there for a year and only had 50 km on the clock. I didn't want it but they tried it very hard with giving me more and more discounts when they called me twice, haha. So at the end I was buying it. But overall I must say the quality of the Mk5 was better although the Mk6 did look better. You could notice the big cost saving. But it was also cool that the Mk6 did look unique and no more like a Golf with a boot. But the TSI engines weren't made for infinity ... I never knew if the car will start or die because you always heard the rattle of the cheap timing chain which caused a young death of the engine for so many of their TSI cars back then.

Cool story about that Mk6 Golf, they really wanted to sell that car to you :) Basically sounds like good deal, very little kilometers on the clock, discounted price, and I guess pretty comfortable, good car, if there weren't those TSI issues. I remember reading about the TSI timing chain, and dsg problems in VW Golf, but Nissan had also some problems with stretching timing chains (Almera and Primera), so maybe in those days these car companies tried to save in material costs a bit too much.

@@modelcarfinn The Mk6 was really comfortable and overall also a good car. Materials in the interior etc. were cheaper than in the golf, e.g. hardplastic in the doors, or no gas struts to hold the hood, missing storage nets at the small compardments on the sides of the trunk. But it was a good car and driving well - but yeah, the TSI timing chain was my worry. So after 4 years I gave it back because I simply didn't trust it. I always heard the rattling and asked the repair shop and the only thing they mentioned if it rattles "a bit more" then I should worry especially if I suddenly hear nothing anymore, lol. I heard at the Golf Mk8 they're using timing chains again but these shall be duplex and not having the problems like back then at the Mk6.

interesting that you've put the Jetta MK5 next to the Golf MK5 Wagon because in some markets like in the US it was called a Jettta Wagon same thing for the previous which in Europe was available as Bora or Golf Wagon sometimes even both at same time for some market 🙂

Yep and both have that front end with massive chrome piece, even one is Jetta and the other a Golf (Variant), not to mention some markets, where the Wagon is called Jetta too. Regular Golf Hatchback has different front end, so indeed trying to show this kind of differences with these comparisons and groupshots 🙂 By the way, next planned video has another 1/43 VW with massive chrome grille... 😉
