VW Passat/Golf/Touran/Jetta/Bora Wing Mirror Glass replacement - changing and refitting 

Excellent video. Volkswagen owners seems to be some of the most practical and utilitarian people. Always making EXcellent DIY videos. I own a vw 2010 and in 10 months have replaced radio, a.c. compressor, egr vavle, and have had to reglue passenger side mirror. Fun car but beginning to wonder if this is worth it.

Great video! Pulling from the inside is perfect. Other videos show pulling from the outside and it usually breaks the mirror. I just replaced both mirrors in the parking lot of a restaurant in less than 10 minutes after watching your video. :-)

Very helpful thank you, had exactly the same issue on my 54 plate passenger wingmirror where is was coming away from the plastic heated element. I reckon less that a week and my glass would have fallen out....I didn't see the glass vibrating though, just saw it coming away by chance as I was walking past the car. One wiggle and she was off! All I had was Gorilla superglue, so used that....that glass is never going anywhere now! Thanks again. Much appreciative of a helpful vid. I'm going to now make it 504 likes

I have a 2015 VW Passat. My mirror came off exactly the same way. Only difference is the backing is completely plastic. Thank you!🎉

Just what I needed. I used a loctite spray adhesive, but the hardware store had 3M as well. Used masking tape to make sure it didn't get on the mirror or back of the mirror plate.

I just used normal contact adhesive that was suitable for plastics. It was a cheap one but still seems to work fine.

When I bought my 2004 VW Passat the previous owner used super glue on both mirrors, bad fix. Because in the summer with the hot humidity will make the glue very tacky and ruin. Another solution you can use is double sided tape for plastics made by Gorilla and 3M. That's what I used too fix mine.

What does the metal bit that sticks out do? I just ordered a replacement but it didn't come with one of those. Is is necessary?

does anyone know how to do this on a vw caddy 2k mk3 without damaging the glass? i got a wobbly passenger side mirror at speed i think it needs re-bonding to the backing plate, i dont want it to fall out

Just attempted having my friend out for the first drive in my parents car. Upon exiting the drive the glass just fell out the left hand door mirror. This was an 08 Passat driven for years and it happens at this moment fml lmao!

Does the contact cement hold up to the heated mirror heat? Anyone have long term review after using contact cement and confirming the heater element still functions? Thanks.

on the heated mirrors does it matter what side I put the red and white wire on are they interchangeable
