Both are very good cars. Polo is a compromise between comfort and sport. Fiesta is sport with no compromise.

if you want sport with no compromise get an old elise and compare that to the fiesta, corners better accelerates faster with 70hp less. EVERY hot hatch is a compromise... polo compromises that last inch of FWD sportiness for some comfort. also polo is not complete no front diff available at this time (unless you want to fiddle one in yourself) performance edition is "in debate" vaq diff fits and that the 2.0 can handle more then 200hp is very much known fact

Ok... I know this may sound like blasphemy for VW lovers, but I really think the interior on the New Polo looks way more interesting than the interior on the current Golf. VW just made a such good job on this new generation of the Polo.

i really don't think it's a blasphemy, it's a modern version of old vw interiors. i don't like the plastics on the doors, though, it's not a seat..

@MyRealName - Yeah. Nobody likes those nasty cheap hard plastic covers on doors or dashboards but we gotta keep in mind that the Polo is still somewhat of a "premium-on-a-budget" kinda car. They can't stretch too much in materials on that category. (although even if they can, they wouldn't... because... you know... they are VW... "Premium" was never "their thing".)

If only the infotainment screen was more like in the new focus. There it looks a lot nicer and fits the interior better. The way the did it in the Fiesta bothers me (probably a bit too much haha)

I think there's not much between them in terms of engine capability/output, but that DSG gearbox really makes a difference under these circumstances.

thing is the polo is a 2.0t and die fiesta only a 1.5, if you’re get a simple remap the fiesta is done. A 1.5 doesn’t have a lot of potential compared to thing detuned gti engine.

Wenn man Design und comfort mit Leistung bevorzugt, ist es der polo. Ich hab mich für den fiesta entschieden und bin nach 26.000 km nach wie vor begeistert. Selbst weite Strecken sind dank der recaro Sitze kein Problem und der Fahrspaß ist Immer noch der selbe wie vom ersten Tag an. Klare Kaufempfehlung!

@@Warsheep2k6 simple tune can increase the polo power to arround 260 hp, ford fiesta engine doesn't have much progression because it's 3 cylinder and 1.5L, 3 cylinder engines are mutch more unreliable to. Idle noise of 3 cylinder engines is horrible, simple exhaust mode can make the polo sound like golf gti.

It’s good but it won’t last as long as the Polo. The Ecoboost 3 cylinder engine has had problems with Head gaskets and valves making them lucky to see 80k miles. Design is fantastic, materials are to blame.

Exhaust sound of the Fiesta is much better but inside sounds is a little better in the Polo. Both cars have a nice interior and exterior. But fuel economy is better in Fiesta - I choose Ford Performance 😜

Der Fiesta zeigt ganz klar mehr Emotionen als der Polo und ist eindeutig das sportliche Auto. Dafür ist der Polo halt mehr auf Komfort ausgelegt und klingt dementsprechend wie ein Föhn mit Fehlzündungen.

4 cylinders seems boring because they were the most common engine. Now that 3 took their place, I bet you will go back on your saying. 3 cylinders always sounded like 6 but sound a lot poorer than 6 you can hear that it lacks a cylinder. 4 pots sound less rumbly (abarth have ut fixed with exhaust) but more refined and are more enjoyable at high rpm or at cold start even if low rpm are decent with custom exhaust. 3 pots are horrible when high rpm and then decelerate just like stand revving, they can however sound better when low rpm due to rumble where 4 are smoother. Overall 4 pots are preferable along with their physical properties.

same technology though(deactivation of injectors on 2/1 cylinders) and i dont think its an issue to get the 1.5 Evo to 200 hp and they dont go head to head... straight the polo wins corners the fiesta wins always been that way.

tons of them and i probably will watch tons of them in the future for me the polo is the better daily driver and will leave fiestas in the dust at that, as i wont go to any tracks with either of them its the better car for me and technology wise they aren't that far apart and WHY do i need cylinder deactivation(same with the polo sailing mode) in a warm hatch i can accept the manual(which the polo will get at the end of the year) and the front diff but thats about it. and in backroads its illegal to drive either of them to the fullest

Ford fiesta is been the best hot hatch and it will still be. Great ecoobost, engine, not pricey, sharp in corners, fun to drive. Just that most people like to buy polo gti. Clio RS is just the most expensive out of the bunch and is not my favourite. This Fiesta st is faster than any polo gti.

Get rid of the original rear engine mount of the Fiesta ST and replace it with the Revo rear engine mount V2. Get a shortshifter and give it a new tuned map. The Fiesta has a lot of wheel hop, therefor the Polo is faster. You can shift as fast with the manuel if you have a shortshifter and the Revo rear engine mount. And it will only cost you around 230 a 240 euro's. I driven the Golf GTI and the Fiesta. The Golf is bigger and better screens in the car but the Fiesta is way quicker in the corners and I just like the quickness of the steering wheel. And the big plus side of the Fiesta is the front window heater. You can't go without it anymore in Europe with these cold winters. I never have to worry about frozen front window with the Fiesta.

The Polo is not a hot hatch...it's a Polo with a powerful engine. It doesnt feel like a sporty car at all for me. Steering is way too light and numb. Also i dont know why people would want an automatic in a car like this. Ruines the experience

At country roads fiesta will beat polo easily because of the chasis sport,polo gti is more comfortable and bigger from inside but if you want speed and performance you gotta get fiesta st

I’ve test driven both and for everyday I’d have the Polo GTI for me, i love the torque in the GTI, both really nice cars but on face value the fiesta just doesn’t have the same build quality as the polo. Not to say the fiesta is bad by any means but I’d worry about the longevity of that 3 pot in the fiesta. My opinion the GTI is just a better all rounder in the real world where people don’t visit the track.

Yeees! Finally a vs. between the 2 cars! Thx! Both are great cars. Fiesta is more sportier, better to drive, Polo is more of an all-rounder. But I'm a purist, and no manual in the Polo is a no go for me. And that sound of the Fiesta...mmm. Also, in my country (Romania) I can no longer find the Polo GTI nor the Golf GTI or R on the config site... I don't understand what happened as a few months ago they where available...

I prefer polo only for the style, fiesta’s design is horrible. I dont like the posterior part of the car. Polo is way more elegant. Personal opinion

El Ford Fiesta ST rezuma personalidad, el Polo GTi es otro alemán más... sólo por el diferencial autoblocante de Ford ya no tiene nada que hacer el Polo. Si quieres un compromiso Sport-Touring, hay opciones mejores y por mejor precio.

i did bring both down if you read that right. and as i said earlier none of them are race or even sports cars they are sporty warm hatches. for the same price you get a gt86/BRZ or a 2.0 skyactive MX-5 or an elise 133 from earlier years(with WAY better driving characteristics then both). but thats probably to "pure" for most of the users of a hatchback.

It makes a difference but not huge, at those speed the intercooler works well and their are less fuel on the fiesta to compensate. The major cause of victory for the polo is the DSG. Polo is faster but i'm sure it's also a car where you don't feel anything. It's a typical boring VW product, the design is basic but Interior looks nice

@@lordofkiwi5144 ok. We do however not know how much heat soaked the engine got prior to those runs. 8-10 c difference will definetly make a difference. I do however agree that the dsg versus a manual has an advantage.

ST Fiesta is funnier and good second car, but as for adult Polo Gti is better daily driver. Fiestas seats are made for kids and long term would kill you.

Fun fact: The Polo is much much less tunable than people think. Much higher than 250 you dont get without serious hardware changes. On the other hand....see below Fun fact 2: The Fiesta ST engine is much more tunable than you think. 270 Hp with software, exhaust and intake mods.

@@dom3827 fun fact I’ve seen you reply to a few comments and you’ve been completely wrong every time. The fiesta is hardly tuneable with a 3cylinder 🤦🏻‍♂️ Polo is very tuneable seeing as it’s a 2 litre 4 cylinder. I rate both cars. But people like you have literally no idea 😂
