VW Scirocco Radiator filler for VW Subaru Conversions

This is a simple way to fill the radiator in a VW Bus or VW Beetle Subaru engine swap. This allows you to fill the radiator from the highest point in the system so it makes bleeding air out of the system very simple. This is ideal for the Late Bay Bus as they have an engine hatch that allows easy access to the filler and no need to cut the rear deck for access when using the VW Scirocco radiator/s. Also ideal for front mounted bug/type 3/etc Subaru conversions as it allows for easy filling. You can find the filler here:

Hi Mick, I have this setup in my bus, it works great 90% of the time here in the Northwest Oregon, I even got the 3 core all aluminium radiator. The problem I am having is when I go East and the temps get in to the upper 90's and going up hill, my temp goes up to 210+. What is the MAX temp I should go before I pull over and let it cool down? Have you made any cooling changes to keep these high temps down? Or Is it just a problem I am having with my bus?

Where can I buy that filler neck at? I’m using the same radiator on my 89 Honda and can’t seem to get the coolant down without that part. Would I appreciate if you can tell me thanks

Nice work Mick, So have you moved away from the dual Honda radiator setup in the bus?

+SVs Auto I like the Scirocco radiator on the left and Honda on the right, much cleaner install and allows you to use the right "porthole" for air intake. Check out the Streetfighter build to see that arrangement.

Do you have any pictures of the scirocco rad installed. i am soon going to be doing my conversion but not sure for cooling. was going to do the 2 civic radiators. thanks

Isn't the outlets supposed to be on the right when its mounted? That way the hole you screw that fitting in would be on the bottom

+George Tsioutsias Only if mounted on the passenger side of the engine bay in a bus. That would make for a really awkward tubing arrangement if mounted that way on the left side ;)
