VW Transporter T4 1.9D - replacing power steering and alternator serpentine belts.
1994 Volkswagen T4 Transporter power steering and alternator belts replaced - this one is a 1.9D non turbo 1X engine (a.k.a. 'The Slug'). Replacing the belts due to pump whining and after power steering system flush that did not resolve the problem. Also discussing the correct belt routing as there was a bit of controversy here. There are few videos out there, but couldn't find one on this specific model to confirm and to see what pump type is on it prior to dismantling it. Any suggestions / comments welcome, if you like the video please share, like and subscribe to support my channel.
Belts used - power steering: Gates 6306 (11.9 x 650) and alternator: Gates 6PK923. Previously had 6PK1043, that was to the specs but did not fit as it was waay too long.

De origen viene montada la correa auxiliar al revés de cómo tú la tienes montada! Por debajo y no por encima! Hay mucho debate! Yo la he tenido de las 2 formas y por debajo de la polea bombea mas agua al vaso de expansión

Podría ser el caso, no estaba 100% seguro y ambas formas de instalación tendrían algunos beneficios, aunque nuevamente ambas tendrían fallas. Lo verifiqué con Autodata y también lo mostraba instalado de esta manera. Intentaré adjuntar una imagen. Por otra parte, con la correa pasando por la bomba de agua, la bomba estaría funcionando en sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj, lo que haría que todo el sistema 'funcionara hacia atrás', ya que la bomba estaría succionando refrigerante en lugar de empujarlo. Answer in English: "It could be the case, I wasn't 100% sure and both ways of installation would have some benefits to it, although again both would have flaws. I've checked with Autodata and it was showing it installed in this manner as well. Will try to attach a picture. Then again, with belt going over the water pump - the pump would be running anti clockwise, which would cause the whole system to 'run backwards', as pump would be sucking coolant rather than pushing it?"
