I don't often watch your videos as I'm pretty new to you and been so busy. But watching this has been really interesting. Love the work and thanks for the great tips on installing 🤟🏼
Those brackets and the lightbar look mega. Just fitted the Scanstrut double for my Solar cables, way better quality and looks really tidy compared to the old style cable entry covers that needed Siko sealant to hold them into place.
Nice work - looks like great workmanship on the install. It’d have to be the white main beam or DRL for me - the amber reminds me too much of the electric fire that used to be in my Nan’s bathroom! Bet it looks good from further away though. Keep up the great content - nice to see a full time RU-vid van content creator still gets interpreted by the school run!
I totally see your point about those brackets and the finished project looks great. The scan strut cable entries are great and far better than the cheap things off eBay, the thing with them is they aren’t going to leak and cause you issues like the cheaper ones will. Brilliant attention to detail with the mounting holes in the A post.
Love it mate, I initially thought those brackets were very expensive but like you said the overall cost with the cheaper light bar makes it quite reasonable. Regarding the selection i’d have the lightbar come on with my main beam. 👍🏻 fitted my double scan strut last week for my solar. It’s a very cool product.
Absolutely love this channel you explain every detail so well, and all the selections look good to me, and £350 for the brackets are extreme but they look the business Well done and keep the video coming 👍
No.3 DRL Always believe if your going to do it, fit the best you can , so no qualms with that, however I wouldn’t fit them in the first place as I like to keep the van smooth and less fussy but each to their own, looks good for the off-road look, guessing they would have to come off if the windscreen needed replacing though.
after going to all that effort to prime/paint the holes I'd suggest doing the same to the rivnuts if they're steel (which they look to be) the coating won't last forever and you'll get rust stains down your A pillar. Quick shot of hammerite now will save some pain later.
Really appreciate the cable entry gland 👍 looks slick! Not sure what your cable looks like in the final install but I would use some black braided sleeving over the cable from the gland to the light which you could slip over the cables to give them a matt black even finish which I’m sure you would appreciate better. Pro install though!
@@jamiewhitaker4665 you my friend…. Are in the same wave length. The light bar has already been removed for the next mod. Thanks for leaving constructive information without being a sausage. That’s exactly how you leave information in a video. Not. You should etc. Thanks pal 👍🏻
Brackets looks smart I think worth it, buy once cry once. Possibly the DRL as you have high beam with the lazer lamp ones and rains a lot here (UK) normally dog walk time & the rain is weird when driving with light bar. Nice going ✊
That looks epic!Gotta be no.1 for me on the main beam.Always fancied a curved light bar but was worried about putting the wires through but that bit if kit looks bang on.
Good video as always, but what i have learned from this is the Scanstrut is a good bit of kit, but the Hess brackets for £350 is a bit steep. I get all of your points, but i think £350 could be spent in better places. As to which light, i would also have number 1 with high beam. When your down a tight country lane in Devon, that would light up lovely!
Well…. 350£… is a lot of money… but it’s swiss😬 2 and 3 it would be for me! But with individual switches or buttons and not linked to something else. Great vid again, m8!
Anytime / every time 😂 but at least you have the option to switch it off independently fly if any other lights…. I see you have Auxbeam in the description… maybe that’s the next install? 😉
£1 social media money 😂 £350 for the brackets is a tad ott. Materials, folding and powder coat 150ish. Seems like they are putting a premium on the laser cut and name.
That scanstrut wossname looks way better than the others I've seen installed. Keen to have solar at some point so it's good to know about improvements to the technology like that. Dunno about the light beam, I think I'd go for boring plain white so you don't look like a highway maintenance vehicle. 😅
Mate no, absolutely no. These would cost literally under £10 to have laser cut, powder coat about £15… what a bloody joke £350?! Let me know if you want a batch making… I could supply you tonnes for £350!
What did you attach the trigger wire too in the end and did you do a video of it? In the process of installing mine and wouldn't mind seeing how youve done it
Drilling holes in my van brings a tear to my eyes 😅 price wise. Yes, the £350 is crazy. However, they will be a low volume niche product, so pure production batch qty will hike the price up. Nice video 📹 👍🏻
Love all your videos, picked up some great tips…this upgrade is not for me I am afraid…to me looked better without the bar, without the holes and with 350 + 150 back in your pocket. I don’t see the point / purpose….unless you are planning on doing some off-road rabbit hunting via the pop top🤣😂
Volkswagen transporters are a complete rip-off so why not purchase rip off items for it. I imported a 2010 Nissan elgrand from Japan with luxury leather interior, surround cameras like a Tesla, drop down TVs in the roof, four-wheel drive with diff lock and 250 horsepower. 41000 miles on the clock full service history with Nissan. All for the princely sum of £6800 and that included the shipping and all paperwork to get it on the road in the UK. The quality and the ride is so much better than any Transporter that I have owned and its such a laugh rolling up on top of the range 100k+ Transporters at the lights and leaving them for dead on the green lights. Stop playing crazy money for very basic vans from VW and then paying even more to spec them, the Nissan elgrand is so luxurious compared to any Transporter of similar age or present.
Maybe don’t be so offended that you. Any afford a vw. What’s that saying. Not everyone can be wrong. You get what you pay for. And you paid £6800. And now it has a resale of a bout £4.
@@urbanarkoverland not quite correct, I have converted it to a camper myself and will be selling in the spring. Am expecting to get about £25k for it. The complete conversation cost me just under £4200 and took me the equivalent of about 3 weeks to complete. I can send you a link if you interested when it goes up for sale. Don't be sucked into the hugely inflated VW trap, I've been there done that, paid ludicrous money for a California camper previously as well as other well known brands of T5 & T6 conversions. Have also converted 2 myself previously. They are simply not worth the money and we are mugs paying VW so much for an inferior product.
@@IronMountainx so you have literally just said you are hoping to sell something that has a total value of about 11 grand for 24 grand. You don’t see the irony and hypocrisy in what you are saying. I can’t believe you are snuffing out transporter videos just to have a go. Is this because there are elgrand videos.
@@urbanarkoverland No the point is that a similar age VW is 3 times the cost and possible only half as good. Yes you are right its probably not much cop poking fun at over priced components and vehicles. Each to their own and we all spend out hard earned as we wish. Enjoy your van.
Everything for the Transporter is overpriced but Hess take it to another level! I personally don't like the look of them, but if i did I'd think they are worth 75 quid max.
WOW RU-vid ads must be doing well!! You could get them custom made for that money, and probably a version that doesnt force you to drill a structural member! Sorry, youve been had! 😅
Ha ha. You tube ads must be doing well 😂😂 Er….. no. Ha. If I can get em made for this money. I may as well buy them 🤷🏼♂️ Yeah it’s a leap. But…. They are lovely. And. Branded. So next owner will recognise I haven’t just bolted tat to the van.
