Here is a quick tip to strengthen the connection of the Subaru engine into your Volkswagen chassis. Using through-bolts it adds a bit more surface area to distribute the load of the engine to the transmission mounts then to the frame horns. It's a quick thing you can do to add a little extra strength when swapping your VW engine for a Subaru.
Bolt specs:
Belmetric.com
Qty 1: BH10x150FCLZ
Qty 3: BH10x100FCLZ
Qty 4: NNH10CLZ
These are a bit long so you'll likely need to cut them down but I haven't found a perfect sized bolt with this strength as of yet. LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND SOMETHING BETTER - IT WOULD BE GREAT TO POST IT UP HERE FOR OTHERS.
