I feel that Nerissa could have had deeper motive. Here are some theories I have come up with after reading way to deeply into things. However, I tried to gather evidence to support these theories and I hope I have done this sufficiently. I even used the chapter books!
Theory 1: 03:18
Theory 2: 12:50
Theory 3: 26:21

This was an amazing analysis.I'm now more convinced than ever that W.I.T.C.H deserves to get a live action remake similar to the a series of unfortunate events one, that could expand on this kind of lore and create a really deep compelling story

26:30 About this theory, there is something that happens at the end of Arc 6 that I just have to mention, so Spoilers: After the events of the Sixth Arc, the story concludes with a closing Monologue made by an out-of-frame figure, but as the speach nears its end, slowly the figure comes into frame as it says something along the lines "After all.. I am just a small, insignificant.. ..Shadow" and it is reveal to be the shadow that the Heart had absorbed during the final battle of the Arc. Just Wow!

I will have to come back and read this comment in the future. (Desperately avoiding spoilers) Which arc is what your referring to in so I know when to come back and look?

Nerissa is probably my fav character in general, she has sooo much to herself. And while I find her TV show version to be a bit better created, you presented some great points that made me appreciate the comics version so much more too! I've always disliked that she's all about vengeance and destruction in the comics as opposed to the cartoon, where she wants to create a new order and generally means well, even if in a totally unhinged fashion. (which is understandable given she spent years jailed in an ice-cold mountain) I feel like there is some relevance to each and every theory you had to share. The Oracle love story blew my mind away because I thought I was the only one who'd ever go there, lol. I absolutely think it's possible there was something between them that ended badly! That's a whole entire CHYKN fanfic idea, I can probably write 40 chapters about it. The neglectful family situation theory does make sense but I don't really see it. Yes, she does use such a scheme a few times and she uses family against her enemies, especially when she fooled Elyon with false memories but I give that to her ability to find the chink in the armor of her opponents' souls, minds, etc. She's very clever and cunning, after all. But also, very troubled. At least in the show, Nerissa does love her son. A very favorite touch for me is the end of season 2, when Nerissa's vision is shown and we see her longing to have Julian and Caleb by her side, even in her desire to rule over the Universe. And as a big OUAT fan myself, that's a very prominent Regina analogy there. Which brings us to the darkness theory. Yes, that is probably the most accurate idea that we all have, whether there are two more elements or the dark side of the Heart is actually the dark side of the Nymph Xin Jing herself is always up for debate and can be seen from many different perspectives. But it's only logical that the Heart is a burden that can affect the holder in many ways, many times negative. (and that same darkness and her flawed visions of a better cosmos with no hurt, injustice, war, and pain, reflect on her the entire time. Darkness made her chase hearts and fail because of Will's plan with Phobos. It made her betray her friends in the end too, when they were escaping the scepter. It made her do so much and it was so strong that everyone knew the only way for Nerissa to be put at bay was to trap her in Weira's jewel where her vision is complete. To me that means that this is the only thing able to provide her with control over her own darkness, that power she had indulged in and lived with ever since the Heart of Kandrakar "corrupted her". That is why I believe that Nerissa's redemption wasn't possible the way the Oracle supposedly expected her to "repent herself" in isolation while reflecting on her wrongs. The only way for her to repent herself is to lean on someone who can love her and pull her out of the pit. We have to admit that without Nerissa being the power player she is, neither would Phobos be taken down, nor Elyon saved as a baby, nor would the girls manage to defeat Cedric in the end. Darkness makes Nerissa powerful but she also gets lost in it.) So, to conclude this, I do, I absolutely do think that some parts of Nerissa's story are due to her falling victim to something greater. Something stronger than a young guardian carrying such an immense burden. Another great part of her fate falls victim to the wrong choices she made in the wrong moments, of course, but what triggered them? What made the Heart consume her as it did and why, and is it possible the Oracle went the extra mile just to cover his ass? Yep. Definitely. Great video and channel, in general, I love your analysis! Keep it up! 💟

Thank you for the detailed reply, I love generating discussion. Glad to see another person thinking of Regina compared to Nerissa. In terms of the Oracle and Nerissa, I am glad to see this well received. I was afraid of people thinking it too outlandish. If you do end up writing any fan fic let me know.

@@digitalbloodlines For Nerissa in a TV show, her evolution can be despair to have killed the person she loved, too. Greg Weisman have confirmed that in the anime Nerissa and Cassidy were in love (and in the comics, I think Kadma and Halinor were also a couple). But yeah, in the comics, the Oracle made very bad decision during all the serie (His poor decisions were behind the problem in season 2,3, 4,5 and 7)

*My Theory:* Nerissa's grandfather was the leader of the only all-male guardian team in existence, and of course, was the master of Quintessence/Energy. He was the only one who cared for Nerissa, and after his death, his dying wish was for Nerissa to succeed him as the new guardian leader, and form her own team of guardians, which became known as C.H.Y.K.N., AKA: How NOT to form a team of guardians. Nerissa's father was very abusive and her mother was very neglectful, due to how powerless women were in the household back in the late 50s and early 60s. Due to this, she fell into darkness, which led to Himmerish, the Oracle, giving the Heart to Cassidy, the guardian of water, and Nerissa's best friend. However, he was very foolish to do so, as Nerissa felt she was betrayed, and thought it was very disrespectful to her dead grandfather, which led to her getting into a fight with her now ex-friend, and soon accidentally killing her, which caused her father to disown her, and she was sealed away on Mt. Thanos.

OMG, this Oracle character 🤯! He's so dumb, and the fact that he's so powerful... I mean, why isn't anyone allowed to express their thoughts in front of him? If Nerissa was punished because she couldn't fulfill her duty as a guardian, then why wasn't Oracle punished? Even he isn't performing his duty properly! If he's so strong and smart, he should be a guardian himself and save the universe. I mean, Cornelia was right... Were they asked to be guardians? No... maybe they didn't want to. This changes their whole life. Maybe they just wanted to live like normal girls. They were kind of forced to be guardians. As for Nerissa, I think she's a victim. She had so much power to control alone, and even the purest soul would have been able to turn dark. And if find a bit stupid the fact that Will is such a “good” person. I mean it would be cool if we saw a bad side of her… but anyway this storyline is so good🔥

There's something I've wondered ever since I started being a fan of the W.I.T.C.H. comics: How old are the original Earth guardians? It's been bugging me nonstop. If everyone knows for certain or has any theories, I would love to hear them. On the other hand, you've inspired me to try and write a fanfiction that explores these themes within Nerissa. So now I ask if it would be alright to take your points and turn them into a written story. Anyway, this was a very interesting video, I'll have to read again the Nerissa Arc to see what I catch on my own. Not gonna lie, now all of these sound posible. Have a nice day, can't wait for more content and happy wedding preparations. 💜

Thank you! And yes you may use my theories for your fanfiction. I'm not sure exactly how old the original earth guardians are but I do know they are referred to as ancient (I plan to make a video on that too). I will promote your fanfic after you get it started. And yes while wedding prep has been ramping up I am simultaneously working on the next arc video.

Sorry spoiler comment I like it theory on the Oracle and Marissa possibly being a thing with each other cuz if you look at the later part of the story where they have it where Matt reveals that he secretly from kindergarten he's dating will who is the current keeper of the heart and some of his actions throughout the rest of the arc where after he's revealed to be from Kendra car reminds me some of the oracles it kind of adds up and maybe they had thought about drawing out this whole Arc about this and maybe that's why it seems like Matt and Will's relationship kind of parallels whatever was going on with nerissen Oracle but it's just something they never touched on or maybe they thought to touch on but scrapped the idea like even though we saw it where Cornelia possibly still had feelings for Caleb we never really saw them explore it in the main story we only saw them confront the relationship of Cornelia and Caleb and side stories and even how Caleb and Elion ended up together was in a sight story that not a lot of people knew about I didn't know about the story till I found it online one day thanks to somebody I was talking to on Tumblr telling me about it and that was that back in 2017 I found it there are a lot of other shows and things I watch that do this where they'll have you go read the supplementary material and tell you what's Canon and what's not or they're rely on commentary for the volume that they'll post on a site connected to the series are on like a Reddit q&a where the writers will talk to the fans and tell them about things they cut from the show and the one show I'm watching and it's a lot of stuff you're going well if all of that is Canon why hasn't it been explored in the show there are many a times when I'm watching this current show where it feels like they wasted time or there was enough time in an episode where they could have just mentioned something important even if it was like just like us said in passing or as a throwaway line real quick it would have been nice to acknowledge it and Canon instead of we have to do homework and go research it ourselves and read site material to get the real truth and then we're told it's Canon it's not canon and I kind of feel like which did that sometimes where you had to go read the other material just to understand the point of things and I'm not wondering if maybe they really were going to like explore More on the rest of because I do feel like there was more there and there are times I really do wish we got to know a bit more about the original guardians that came before team witch or even about Phobos and Cedric or even more on the other magical worlds that they ended up exploring towards the end of the other arcs or even on meridian I feel there was a little bit more we could have learned about meridian but in the end we just got nothing maybe one day which will get a reboot and maybe they'll reboot the comic and maybe they'll bring back some of the writers or people who were invested in the original project and they'll do a bit more world building and explore past relationships hopefully they'll do it in a way that coincides perfectly with the original story and don't do like a full reboot like they've done with other series

I have not read the whole series yet, I did hear something strange about Matt like him being from somewhere else. The original idea for the series was going to be darker so I really wonder what they might add or change.

I came back and re watch and I think alot of the points could all be a key to why Narissa ended up like this and I believe she was abused at home and at some point the Oracle and narissa we're maybe together but in secret and narissa was letting the power of the heart and and being with the Oracle get to her and over time she started to take part of the hearts magic and siphoned it off into a pendant and turn the power dark and started to use it for her own personal use and her real life and over time the Oracle realized that nerissa maybe at one point did love him or needed to find someone to be with in love but over time she care more about the power then love and her responsibility and that's why he managed to trick her at some point maybe or talk her into giving him the heart back and then he gave it to Cassidy and she saw that as a betrayal and that's one of the main reasons why she killed Cassidy I can't wait to see u cover the other arcs on this

As a huge fan of both the show and the comic books, I always enjoyed Nerissa's character because she always seemed to be a calculated, pragmatic and determined person. I also have a theory for Nerissa's fall from grace (I don't know if it's a good theory or not, but I'd like to share it with other Witch fans): Back when Nerissa was at the begining of her journey as a hero and when she was the leader of her team of Guardians, there was a great and loved hero, whom served as her source of strenght, her inspiration, her mentor and, maybe, her father or elder brother figure as well. Unfortunately, that hero died tragically, fighting against a force of ultimate evil (a force so powerful that it made Phobos himself quiver with fear and forced him and his followers to strike a truce with the Guardians and the Council of Kandrakar and help them fight this evil force). Of course, Nerissa was deeply saddened by her friend's and mentor's loss and blamed herself for his death, considering that because of her weakness, the greatest hero the world had at that moment was dead. She also developed a grudge against the Oracle, because, in her eyes, he did nothing to prevent her brother's death and from that point on, she sworn that she would never show weakness ever again. Over time, Nerissa became more distant and cold, more ruthless and far more aggresive and violent than she was before, considering that evil can be eradicated only by using lethal force. Seeing this change in her behaviour, her fellow Guardians and the Oracle felt scared, because they thought that she may lose her way if she continues on this dark path. At that time, Nerissa was regarded as "The Chosen One" and her whole mission was to ensure equilibrium and balance in the world, but that was virtually impossible, for Nerissa already became one with the darkside. Therefore, the Guardians and the Council decided to offer Nerissa a partner, a guardian angel, to guide her back to the light. However, Nerissa saw this as an insult to her status and thought that her friends abandoned her and that only strengthened Nerissa's path to the darkside. Over time, Nerissa wanted to become more powerful and to stop any conflict and any fight before it even happened, which is why she started to attack anyone who seemed suspicious, causing death and sorrow all over the world. Because of her actions, the Oracle took the Heart from her and gave it to Cassidy, her best friend and confident. This made Nerissa very angry, like she never was before and, as a response, she caused even more chaos and swore revenge against anyone who betrayed her. The Guardians were horrified to discover Nerissa's carnage and they thought she had become corrupted. However Cassidy still had hope for her and that's exactly why she confrunted her alone, asking her why she did all those things. Enraged, Nerissa called her "an ungrateful, back-stabbing snake", saying the she "betrayed her in the moment she accepted the Heart and because of her and the Guardians weakness, people are dying and her approach was far better and, by doing so, she saves countless lives". Cassidy is shocked, but she keeps her cool, replying that "Nerissa rejected any form of help and that the power clouded her judgment". Nerissa replies that "she needs the power and cannot be weak. Never again!". She then asks Cassidy to "join her noble cause and use the power of the Heart to change the world". Cassidy replies horrified that "she could never do that", breaking Nerissa's heart. Still, because of their past friendship, Nerissa tells her that "she won't stop, not until she has enough power to fulfill her heart's greatest desires and Cassidy should leave, while she still has the chance and they are still friends". Cassidy tells her that "she won't leave until she finds out what Nerissa intends to do with all that power" and Nerissa replies that she "would create the ideal world, where there is no fear, no evil and no suffering and will bring Him back to life, to see how she perfected the world". Cassidy replies that "if she does that, her brother would be disgusted and disappointed by her downfall". Nerissa replies with strong emotions that "if she does that, at least he will be alive" and Cassidy "is not fit to speak his name, as she honores him with every breath". Insulted, Cassidy tells Nerissa that "he was her friend too and that he fought tyrants, while she is one", which trigger Nerissa's rage. The 2 former friends engaged in a fight, in which Nerissa accidentally kills her. Shocked by Cassidy's death, Nerissa went to the Guardians and the Council and tried to explain what happened. Of course, no one believed her and she is sentenced to spent the rest of her days in the dark prison located on Mount Thanos. And so it happened, until Nerissa found a way to escape and to restart her plan to create the ideal world, in which her mentor, her best friend, her lover and her son could live happily, rulling over the entire Cosmos. That would be all, hope you liked it and I'd like to tell me what do you think about it. Could this be the reason behind Nerissa's ambition? I'd like to think that Nerissa is not a heartless monster and that she was well intentioned at first, but tragedy made her lose her way and became the very thing she was fighting against.

@@digitalbloodlines Indeed she was! Quite a remarkable dark lady! Calculated, cunning and extremely sharp too! Too bad Disney came and had to ruin everything. I really wanted to see characters like Yua, Ludmoore, Orube and last, but most certainly not least, Dark Mother, in action. Unfortunately, we can only speculate what these characters would have looked like and what would have been their importance in the story. Thank you so much for the support, really appreciate it!
