My grandfather had one, I codrove with him on several long trips. A magnificent machine, Chicago to Denver in 12 actual hours, including fuel and food stops.
When Luxury was Luxury. When Mercedes-Benz was: "Engineered Like no Other Car in the World". I had a 1973 280SE 4.5 with every conceivable option, including a huge sunroof. We drove from NYC to Boston one Easter Sunday in under two hours! The feel of the engines were so different - you take your foot off the accelerator and the car would quickly lose speed. Driver safety at the expense of fuel efficiency - what a concept. The 6.3 had 500lbs of torque. That was unheard of for a luxury sedan, regardless of pickup / top speed. Road & Track called the 6.3 "The Greatest Car Ever Built."
It's obviously a US spec import with those huge front & side indicators, but has the European "tombstone" headlights with integral indicators instead of the stacked headlights.
A truly fantastic thing. Had the pleasure of on occasion driving one. Alas for me, you have rendered your video unwatchable because of the spots dancing all over the screen and the car. You really aren't familiar with aesthetics.
