Excellent info! I had an intermittent issues with the cruise control last time I drove the car. Now I have a reason to check it out.

Hi, great vid. Is the actuator repairable?
@straybenzes
@straybenzes Год назад
That totally depends on what is wrong with it. Fortunately, these rarely break and there are quite a few good used ones available.

Hi again, thanks for the great videos , I have uncovered a mysterious issue with testing my actuator, I have set everything up correctly, I was getting solid readings of 170mA, I was running the motor for about 10 seconds for each test, and I repeated the test 15-20 time's just to test the robustness of the actuator and the multimeter, BUT... I have blown two 200mA fuses inside 2 multimeter's with my test's! At first I was totally confused but I discovered that there was a mA spike which occurs for only a tiny fraction of a second before the actuator motor has chance to reach full speed, I registered at least one reading of 195mA but like I said, only for a 10th of a second before it settled back to 170mA .... So My question is... Will this damage the amplifier? What is causing this to happen in the first place?
@straybenzes
@straybenzes Год назад
This is a very interesting finding. It is my sense that this will unlikely be the cause for amplifier failure and such spikes are rather low in nature. Leaky capacitors are usually the reason why the amplifier will no longer work properly. The actuators are typically the lesser issue when the cruise control no longer works properly.

Good evening! Do you have the electronic schematic of Cruize Control available? I need the specification of the double diode that has the output of the decelerate circuit. do you have photos of the disassembled circuit, open of the aluminum box? Thanks

I unfortunately do not have neither spec nor drawings of this subcomponent - sorry!

Hi please advise on ways to see this cruise control on operation. how i locks speed, increase, decrease and deactivates.

Hi Sidney; Thank you for your request. It is a good suggestion and I will put it into my growing list of video request. I cannot promise to cover this anytime soon.

checked myn, it is a v8, clicked fine, so solenoid works, my merter has amps with 2amp and 10 amp selection, I selected the 2amp range, connected the wires as you did and set the dial on the meter to 200, results were it did buzz and the meter showed 28, im assuming this is 28 milliamperes, is myn faulty, the cruise control does not work when i push the lever up or down
@straybenzes
@straybenzes 2 года назад
I believe your amplifier is bad.

@straybenzes
@straybenzes 2 года назад
@@sas8403 No. That is the unit that sits right above the brake pedal near the steering column. The door and light buzzer is mounted there also.

Hi Ralph, when I try to engage the cruise control while I'm driving, it does not work, even after I replaced the capacitors, all I get is a continuous clicking sound from the actuator, twice as fast as a clock ticking, the sound is exactly the same as when you tap the battery with pin 6 and 7, do you know what could be going wrong?
@straybenzes
@straybenzes 2 года назад
Yeah, unfortunately sometimes it is not only the capacitors that are bad. I included a contact person in the video description who can help you out sorting out the cruise controller.

does it apply to w 123 as well?

Hi Ralph,I tested the cruise control actuator on my meter,I am not getting any readings on pin 4 and 5,pin 6 and 7 makes a tapping noise as per your video.Do you know what the issue of no reading means.Thanks
@straybenzes
@straybenzes 4 года назад
Hi there. No reading on pins 4 and 5 either means that there is a broken wire inside the actuator or you have not connected your Amp meter.
@satwantbanwait8196

@@straybenzes I can hear a noise coming from the actuator but no reading on the meter,pin 5 and 6 makes a tapping noise

@ImpalamansGarage

What were your cruise control symptoms?
@straybenzes
@straybenzes 4 года назад
There are some generalities I noticed when working on the cruise controls. If it does not work at all or it does work but only sporadically it is typically the amplifier (faulty capacitors). If all control functions work but it stops working while it is set to cruise it is most likely the actuator. If nothing works it can be both; the actuator could have malfunctioned and taken out the amplifier with it. Good luck.

What was it that caused the 2ed amp reading to be higher that the 1st test did not find?
@straybenzes
@straybenzes 4 года назад
There were two separate actuators in this video clip. The first reading was with a good actuator. The second one was with another actuator that drew a higher Amperage.
