Bored? Yeah, me too. So I just did a quick recording on putting together a W463 g wagen center driveshaft (transfer case to transmission). Maybe it’ll help you dive into doing the job on your own and save yourself a thousand bucks or so, or just give you an idea of some parts you may want to carry if you're into wheeling your gelandewagen. Any update on how long they lasted? I once had mine rebuildt and they only lasted about 600km. Stuck in a small town I rebuildt them with Audi 500 CV's that fitted. They only lasted 100km 😢 For some reason the grease kept on spinning out. Eventually I resorted to buying a complete shaft from Mercedes.

What has been the symptoms while driving? Constant rolling noise increasing with speed. Any vibration , cabin or steering wheel? I have a rolling vibration on my 2017 G63 and can not locate where is it coming from.

Nothing in the steering wheel, this is primarily a vibration coming from under the seats around 30-40mph (where you can feel it best). The faster the truck is moving, the less you'll feel the vibration. The best bet is to get the truck up in the air where the wheels are free and push up and down on the cv shaft just before the shaft meets the joint, if the shaft is bad USUALLY there will be play. It should have NO play. Sometimes these can get bad enough that they will start clicking - replace ASAP as it can potentially damage the transfer case.

@@Gelandelocks Thank you for prompt reply. Checked all wheels with the car lifted up. No play at all, no unusual noise. Can’t check the CV joints they are inside the front axle. This makes it prob more difficult to hear. The ball hub is quite massive piece of metal. Guess the only way is to dismantle a check it.
