Ken Tanaka of Wish4Fish is back on the water! This time, fly fishing in Key West Florida for Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit.
Fishing in Florida brings me back! I would conventional fish for Trout and Redfish in Cocoa Beach during college. Florida was also my first fly fishing experience on saltwater for Redfish in Mosquito Lagoon.
Fly fishing in Key West is where you go to test your skills. In my opinion it's one of the hardest fisheries in the world. Highly pressured fish and educated fish, tough weather conditions, and with the few fish you're lucky to find, you have to make your opportunities count.

I see in the caption that you used to fish in cocoa beach. I just discovered your channel about a week ago, and I actually live in cocoa, just over the bridge from cocoa beach and was born and raised in this area. I myself am a frequent fisher of the mosquito lagoon and surrounding areas. Love it here! Good video anyway, your channel is great dude.

Thank you very much. Yeah those things are BEASTS! I was wearing a heart rate monitor to see the effects of Tarpon. That 6hrs I hooked 5, leadered 2, face grabbed 1 and burned over 3,000 calories. Another day with the same 6hrs with zero action I burned 400. 😂

Ken it looks like you had it all , reel blows up , rod tip comes off , knuckle buster , line knot takes out line and rod and more . All of that being said you have to remember tarpon are a fish that will take you to the cleaners if everything is not perfect, and even if it is and you make a great cast and hook set they can still kick your ass . And what could go wrong in Key west :-)

I love your videos Ken because you show everything...the good, bad and ugly. It gives the viewer a better idea of what to expect in real life. Question: Do you ever swear? I'm swear all the time watching your videos when your fish unbutton or something unexpectedly malfunctions.

How did you like the Sextant 10 weight? How does it compare to the Exocett 10?

I like them both. I really enjoy that Sextant. Using the 6wt as well. But…. I also like the Exocett SS (being the faster rod) Hard to say the difference in the regular Exocett vs the Sextant. I actually have them both in the 6wt so I might be able to tell you a better comparison on the two with the 6wt sometime.

Unfortunately the salt got to it. Corroded the handle and it wouldn’t turn anymore. I need to get better at washing it after using it in the salt. Thank you very much for the kind words.
