As a New Yawka, this brings me back...thanks for uploading! I remember in my senior year of high school, we had watched the film Cool Hand Luke during a film class and didn't realized that the theme to Channel 7's newscasts were from the film. Great film. Great memories.

This is very interesting. Here in Australia the music in this clip is used by Channel 9 news. The term ‘Eyewitness News’ is used by Channel 10 and we have a Channel 7 that has nothing in common except the 7.

We had 2 TV stations here in NC to use Cool Hand Luke: Tar Sequence, both in the same market! WTVD-11 in Durham used CHL from 1988 to 1993, and WRAL-5 in Raleigh (then an ABC affiliate, now CBS) used CHL for a period in the 1970's (not sure of the exact dates).

yup and A LOT of updates within the last 2.5/3 yrs w/additions, Shirleen Allicott and Ryan Field. So for EWN This Morining, Its now: Ken Rosato, Shirleen Allicott, Heather O' Rourke and Bill Evans. Noon: David, Shirleen and Bill. First at 4: Liz, David & Lee. At 5: Diana, Sade (So happy she's back. She had a concussion and was out for 3 months) and Lee, EWN at 6 (Now here's the new addition): Bill, Liz, Ryan Field (Sports) and Lee. Field reporter Antony Johnson fills in for Laura Benkie when she isnt there on weekends. Also, After Lisa Collogrossi passed away, they have new field reporters in the Morning: Candace McGowan and Derrick Weller (I think Candace started in 2016, and Derrick Weller started I believe in late summer/early fall 2017). WOW... I just realized how much I watch EWN. Well, I am a loyal viewer. Also, if you check out the news opens from 2017, i dont really like the format, BUT the format (opens) they had back in the late 2000's-2010's were good. Have to correct the announcers, I did research for some site called TVArk back in the day, and I really strived to make them right: The 0:07-0:32 announcements were Scott Vincent. Wally Parker is the voice on the 0:32 open. The voice starting on the 0:45 open, labeled throughout as Parker, is in fact Gilbert Hodges. Parker is 1:22 again, and at 2:30. Allan Jeffries at 3:07 and 3:39. Norman Rose at 4:08 until the Bill Rice open at 6:18. At 8:27, I'm pretty sure that's David Kaye, not John Pleisse.

@ 3:56, I didn't know Eli Zaret did sports for WABC in New York City. He used to be WJBK TV 2, a CBS affiliate, now Fox affiliate here in Detroit. Before that, he was with WDIV Channel 4, and NBC affiliate and still is to this day.

I hate to say this, but at 5:38, that music debuted in Fall 1994...because back during the OJ trial, they were still using News Series 2000 (I know, I visited NYC that year).

+4Micstromme I always wondered if she got fired from CBS because she accidentally said coming up later on ABC 7, one afternoon, I think, during Oprah or Dr. Phil when she was doing a live promo for the 5 'o clock news that day. It was one of those quick, blink and you miss it live promos, she looked pretty upset right after it happened. They do fire anchors for mistakes like that. I would've never known about it, if I hadn't happened to be paying attention the exact moment it happened. I'm sure it wasn't recorded on tape. She looked REALLY embarrassed, though.

+Melissa0774 ABC 7 carried Oprah in those days and Dr. Phil was on CBS 2 at 3 right & Judge Judy at 4. While CBS 2 never acknowledged her firing publicly, she pretty much stopped being on New York TV after that. Same for Michele March after getting fired from NBC 4

AsnycnowRadio I went to school for TV production and my professor used to work as a floor director at channel 17 in Philadelphia, I think. He talked about this one time when they were going to run a story on Barry Bond's mom. (the NFL football player) She's the one that was in the Campbell Soup commercials. Anyway, they ran out of time, so they had to cut the story. He told the anchor in her ear peice "Barry Bond's mom dead," meaning the story's dead because they cancelled it. For a second she misinterpreted that and almost repeated that on the air. Luckily she didn't though. He said they both would've been fired if she did. This is why I always wondered if that misidentification incident is what got Roz Abrams fired. I wonder how many people even know about it because it was so quick and probably not captured on tape, though. If I hadn't of been paying attention to the TV at exactly the right moment, I could've easily missed it.
