In partnership with the James Foley Foundation, this workshop offers WABJ members tips and resources on remaining safe when covering political violence and conflict.
Panelists will offer insight into how to prepare for covering conflict (such as points of contact both on the ground and back in the newsroom, exit strategies, and legal rights should law enforcement become involved); tactical safety gear journalists may be interested in owning; and how they have stayed safe in the field when violence has broken out.
Our speakers are Cheyanne Daniels, a politics and race reporter at The Hill, Marissa Lang, an enterprise reporter at The Washington Post, and Ellen Shearer, chair of the James Foley Foundation.
