I use mine when on holiday or camping. I like it but it does feel like alot of effort for a shot of coffee. I use the ns adapter with ns pods. And take my nespresso milk frother with it.

Good video. You obviously love your coffee. I’m thinking of buying the Nanopresso and Barista set. Can you use the coffee pods with this combination, and if so can you make coffee other than expresso.

It works really well with pre-ground coffee as well. I've tried both the Illy espresso ground and the moka ground (had some leftover from my moka pot use) The funny thing is I've tried grinding my own in fact a bit more coarse than the pre-ground Illy espresso one and sometimes it's too dense for the espresso to come out. However, I've never failed to get an extraction with the Illy espresso, perhaps it is how it was ground, not sure. Using my own beans and a Hario Mill i generally find that going on the coarser side and getting it to about 14-15g dose, I've had more success getting the proper extraction. Another video recommended this, after you pump for the initial pressure you will hear a hiss (the pressure spring opening up) at this point if you put your ear to the water chamber you can hear the water "gulping down" .. it is believed the water is sort of filling the puck now .. give it a few seconds then continue to pump and it will be smoother. I was using it for home use, but now that I've got a barista express, I use it mostly for nespresso (my wife finds that she likes using vietnames pre ground coffee with it too)

Are you guys able to fit 16g of ground coffee in the double basket? I can only fit about 12-13g, in order to get the temp leveled/flushed with the top of the basket. I notice that you need to leave that extra space and not fill all the way to the top for the "portafilter" to get a tight seal, same space needed to close the little lid on the basket. Is it my grind size, maybe?

@@mnimdp I experience the same problem. There is just no way to fit in 16 grams of coffee. At least not without making a hugh mess and having to press it so much that water can hardly be pumped through. I started experimenting with a cut off plastic water bottle. The top part, turned up side down, is a pretty useful funnel that fits almost perfectly in the Wacaco basket. If Wacaco made a funnel that would be designed in such a way that a tamper would fit through (so you could do the filling and tamping with the funnel in place) I would probably buy it.

Have you ever used a Bialetti stovetop percolator for espresso? It’d be interesting to see you do some trial and error with one to see what gets the best results. My current method is boiling the base on its own, then separately tamping fine espresso beans into the funnel (not a full tamp, just a light pat down with a spoon). After the bottom is boiling turn off the gas and insert the bean funnel and screw on the top while holding the bottom with a towel because it’s got boiling water in it (it’s hot). Then turn a gas stove quick boil section onto power 3, after I see the first spout I turn it down to power 1 until the pot is a little over half full. I used about 36 grams of beans for my 9 cup bialetti percolator. I use one because I’m a college student and it’s a really cheap old school way to get strong coffee/espresso. People also like taking this camping because it can be made over fire.

is there 100% stainless steel portable espresso maker that you could recommend? I hate plastics. Even a small touch with plastic I will not drink it/
