Great review. Received the full set as a present, and invested in a manual grinder. I've found that grinding pre-ground coffee actually tastes pretty good. Thinking of using a cheap electric grinder to save some time, then doing the final grind manually.

Love your videos Really helped me in deciding to buy this product and I love it. I have purchased the whole kit. I'm having a little trouble with the double shot. Took the rubber pressure piece out. I have a fine grind like it says and I fill to the top of the filter then tamp. I get nothing sometimes because of to much pressure build. So I try a coarser grind and get a good pour. But I struggle to get 16 grams in there. Do you double tamp with a coarser grind to get the 16g in? Thanks in advance. Love your work.

Brilliant video..nicely done. Although the middle part's kind a distracting me. I preferred to watch the Nanopresso preparation instead of "the aeropress wabble" (haha, peace!), and had a final impression that you didn't play with the Barista Kit long enough (indoor). But, since you're about to release another sequel to the Nanopresso trilogy, well scratch that. I'll best be on my front row seat then, Good Day Sir.

Very thorough! Can I ask why exactly having two double espresso baskets is useful? And what are the basket lids for? Is it so you carry around pre-ground coffee with you, and use the lid to secure the grounds in?

Great videos! Lots of good tips, thanks for posting. Im trying to figure out if I should get just the Nanopresso or also add the barista kit, if anyone who has them, can help with some insight: at home I usually make a “latte” using a 3 cup moka (about 4oz/120ml) and adding some milk. I’m a flight attendant, and need something to take on my trips with me. What would give me the closest result? Should I do a double shot basket with the larger barista water tank, or maybe a double shot basket using the short water tank? Or since espresso tends to be a bit stronger than moka, will just a single shot be enough? For me the smaller/least I have to carry, the better, so trying to see if I really need all the extras from the barista kit or not.

@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 6 лет назад
Hi, yes it can, if you like a Lungo, I think some Nespresso pods are made for a larger extraction. With the Barista kit water tank on you'll be able to get about 110g of drink instead of around 55g with the small original tank. Hope that helps, have a great day

Great video! really enjoyed the part where you take the product outdoors. Think I'm going to get my Barista Kit as a Christmas gift for myself~ And, I'm quite curious how you manage to make such solid pucks, because I usually get a soft and wet puck in mine😂. Definitely looking forward to the Part 3~
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 6 лет назад
Phoenix Zhou Glad you liked the video, I definitely would treat yourself to the Barista kit, it's awesome. If you're grind is fairly fine and you've tamped it well, then you should get a solid puck. Also try waiting for a few minutes for the puck to dry a little first, that helps too. The Barista Kit comes with really nice tamp that is a big improvement over just using the underside of the filling basket. Thanks for watching, have a great day.
@phoenixz7011
@phoenixz7011 6 лет назад
I've tried using fairly fine grind (it's actually pre-ground by illy), but it took too much effort to press the piston, and the puck is still pretty wet. It produced nice extraction and crema though. Also I was wondering, is that "little piece of plastic" the orange rubber ring around the filter?

Martin Fustes The Barista Kit is only available directly from Wacaco at the moment I believe. I bought my one from their website. It does come with free delivery, but I did have to pay VAT/Import charges when it arrived. Delivery took a couple of weeks too. It's worth it though. I'm using the Nanopresso all the time now I can make double shots. I'd imagine it will eventually be available on Amazon.co.uk, however it might not work out much cheaper. The Nanopresso unit is about £20 more expensive on Amazon than it is to buy it from their website. Hope that helps and happy new year.

For how long will the water remain hot in order to make an espresso?
@nicmalone
@nicmalone 5 лет назад
Does the Barista kit’s water tank have the inner threads that let it screw tight to the nanopresso body? I read a review on Amazon that said it was lacking these and the boiling water’s steam pressure can ‘pop’ the two pieces apart in your hands causing scalds. I noticed the normal water tank does have little locking threads that do prevent separation.
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 5 лет назад
Yes it does, I think the problem they are referring to, is that if you over tighten the threads, it can cause them the wear. This leads to them becoming less effective. As long as your mindful not to overtighten, you'll be fine. If you'd like an even better water tank, check out the Nanovessel (I did a video on it) have a great day

Impressive video clip!!!! I just received Nanopresso with the barista kit. Firstly I try single shot. It good with easily extraction. I used coffee 8 g. with grind very fine. then I try to made double shot with coffee 16 g. some coffee bean and same grind level. It is hard to extract, hard to press. The water was quite release. Please advised me , what should I do? Thank you
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 6 лет назад
Hi Pera, I just replied to another guy with a very similar problem, here is what I said (it should help you too) - 'Hi, I would guess that the espresso grind may be a tiny bit too fine, the ideal grind is sort of in-between an espresso and a filter grind. You may be able to get around it taking the small rubber piece out of the nozzle (there is an instruction in the Barista Kit manual, or watch the part 3 where I demo it) this will help the flow a little. If it is still hard to pump, then try putting 0.5g less grinds in the basket and do a slightly lighter tamp, this will also help. If you've got the tamp and weight right for the grind, then it shouldn't be too hard to pump. If it's leaking out of the sides when using the Barista kit, then it's likely that you're are overpumping. Also, take the large orange rubber ring off from around the portafilter and make sure there are no old grinds trapped underneath (this can happen if you have a fine espresso grind) If you've got this issue and you want a little hack to avoid having to redo the basket, try loosening in the portafilter for a second and then tightening it up again, I've found that if I've overpacked the basket or overtamped, this seems to help restore the flow. - Hope that helps'

Your videos made me buy a nanopresso and barista kit i only use ground espresso coffee out of connivence at work i used the lavazza expresso was extracting fine, now i wanted something a little stronger so i tried the illy espresso intense i get decent pull on single but when i use the double i get dripping not good flow lot more pressure and the puk is really saturated, i haven’t got a clue about coffee i even had to spell check how to spell it lol, if you know where im going wrong or just wrong grind i would appreciate it cheers
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 4 года назад
Hi Friend, I've used both, if memory serves me correctly, the Lavazza espresso pulled way better. I'd say the reason is that the Illy has a slightly finer grind. You'll need to reduce the amount you add to the basket and tamp lightly, this should help improve the flow rate. I try and aim for a steady flow slightly thicker than a match stick, once the flow becomes drippy its either because there's too much coffee in the basket or the grind is too fine, as it's pre-ground, your only real option is to add a little less than you would with the Lavazza. Hope that helps :)

Great video as always. Your last video about Nanopresso is what makes me decide to buy a Nanopresso. Thank you so much for the great review. Btw, I got the barista kit also and sometimes have a lil bit problems. After all the preparation step, when I pump, the pressure was getting harder and harder until it was too hard to pump, then it stopped coming out from the portafilter and start leaking from the sides. I'm still wondering what's wrong. Is the ring or portafilter isn't tight enough, or the coffee was tamped too hard on the basket (making it too full or too dense, or just the grind size (it's grind for the espresso size already actually by my local coffee shop, since I still dont have any grinder). Do you ever experience this before? Thank you so much

Hi, I would guess that the espresso grind may be a tiny bit too fine, the ideal grind is sort of in-between an espresso and a filter grind. - Hope that helps

did you dimount the rubber on the spring by using of the Batista kit?

I don't think you really need to, espresso purists would say a pressurised head is cheating, you'll get a little more crema, but it's superficial, there is no real difference to the flavour. I'd leave it in as it makes it easier to build intial pressure. If you remove it, pump quicker at the start to build the pressure otherwise it will start extracting be little before the optimal pressure is achieved. Hope that helps, tha is for watching :)

Nice espresso glass you have there. May I know what brand is that?

Hi, I bought that glass from a local store (Marks and Spenser's in the UK) I've started using a different one though, which I got on Amazon which I think I like even more - geni.us/raxkl They're called 'Judge Espresso Glasses' You can see them on my Nowpresso review. I think they are more sturdy and retain heat better.

Hey GadgetViper, my girlfriend and I are looking to purchase the Nanopresso for our camping trips, and I would like to know if you recommend the extra $30 USD to get the Barista Kit or we will good with the rinse-and-reuse single shot Nano. Thanks!
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 6 лет назад
duongly I highly recommend getting the Barista Kit, especially if you like making drinks other than single shot espresso. Since owning the Barista kit, I've not once used the single shot basket. The double shot is perfect for Americano, latte, flat white and cappuccino. Hope you have a great trip :)

Ok, so.. if I understand right I can buy the nanopresso, and the barista kit and keep using the smaller original water tank? that will be enough to make a good americano? 50-60g of extraction?
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 5 лет назад
It's perfect, 16g of coffee for about 55g of drink. Then add additional hot water directly to the cup (around 300-350ml total) until you get the strength you like best. The reason I like using the small tank, is that I can always get a consistent amount by filling it to the top. Hope that helps :)

@@GadgetViper Thanks! that sounds great. And thanks for the videos, I've watched your videos about the nanopresso.. and now I am going to buy one :) it seems like a good thing to replace the aeropress for traveling.

Not a product for me I think but thanks for the video, I think it shows it will work well for those that must have espresso when hiking.

Yes, I'm a huge fan of the Aeropress for hiking, unless someone just HAS to have espresso, then the Aeropress would be a better option.

I got my Nanopresso NS Kit today and also found the crema valve. Also without it I get a really nice crema. But the capsule is not opened as good as with a Nespresso machine and I found some ground coffee in my cup, what also not happens with an original Nespresso machine. I would like to see your review of it and also trying without the crema valve.

Araknalam I'm looking forward to trying the Nespresso adapter, hopefully I'll make a video of it early next year. What make of Nespresso pods are you using? When I used the Staresso with Nespresso pods, I found the Starbucks ones worked really well as they have a very thin foil on the top and bottom

I am using original Nespresso capsules only, as recommended in the instructions booklet of the NS adapter. My favourite ones are Roma and Arpeggio.

Hiya buddy, thanks very much for your great videos... but i'm having some real dramas with mine!! I'm trying to dial in my grinds and really struggling to press the pump sometimes that I feel like i need to get to the gym 💪🏼 I am using the Hario Mini Slim Pro with a ceramic conical burr grinder, i'm measuring my 16 gms of beans and tamping the grind to 4mm below the lip of the basket as per Wacaco's instructions... Could mine be faulty, because not once have i had an easy extraction with the perfect crema... i'm even getting grinds in my espresso. Please help
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 4 года назад
Glad you like the videos, I've found the perfect weight depends on the beans your using, sometimes 16grams is a struggle with certain roasts, try slightly less so that you get the same height in the basket, but with a slightly less forceful tamp. If it's still hard to press, then go a little coarser on the grind. The Nanopresso requires a slightly coarser grind than you'd typically use on a big espresso machine. Start of a few clicks coarser and see if the extraction improves, it's likely to flow too quick and be underextracted, but then you can try again one click finer and work toward the sweet spot. I find that the flow from the portafilter gets thinner but remains a constant stream, like a match stick, the moment it becomes a drippy extraction, you've gone too fine. At that point you could try slightly less in the basket. If it's still hard to press even with less weight and a coarser grind, perhaps the portafilter is a little bunged up, I think there are some screws you can undo. Anyway good luck my friend and thanks for watching :)

Seen your review and it was one of the reason why I bought the unit But, it’s stopped working for me. It seems that pumping is now harder without the nice flow of coffee I had the first time making it. I saw you commented on Mark’s Nanopresso pump issue, any other tricks? Nothing has worked..

Try to adjust the tamping and the grind size of the coffee. Normally i would just grind it coarser if it stuck like that.

Hi, i know you use freshly boiled water, but does the nanopresso hold hot water in the tank and keep it hot if you need to take it on the move with you?
@GadgetViper
@GadgetViper 6 лет назад
Most definitely NOT if you wanted to take hot water with you, you would definitely need a separate thermal flask. There is an espresso maker that's just coming onto the market that will heat the water, it's called the Nowpresso. I haven't tested it though so I can't say for sure how it compare to the Nanopresso.
