Wagakki Band - 千本桜 Senbonzakura / Manatsu​ no Dai Shinnenkai 2020 Yokohama Arena 😍👏|DUTCH REACTION 

The lead vocalist Yuuko started learning piano since 3 y of age & by the age of 4 she was trained in Shigin (traditional style of poetry reciting), Kenshibu (sword dance). She graduated as a major in piano from Tokyo Music University. The Shakuhachi (flute) player Daisuke Kaminaga is also an alumini of Tokyo music University Majoring in Shakuhachi. Shamisen (banjo like inst.) Player Beni Ninagawa has also learnt Minyou (traditional folklore singing) & Shamisen. Koto (horizontal harp) player Kiyoshi Ibukuro started playing koto since his highschool days & have represented Japan internationally in many occasions, displaying his koto skill. Wadaiko (traditional drum) player Kurona started learning it since 9 y of age & have played wadaiko all whilst travelling around the world. Bassist Asa have a solo career as well. He is songwriter of many vocaloid artists (vocaloid is a synthetic voice producing computer program). Guitarist Machiya is well known for his sickly speed guitar playing skills. Drummer Wasabi a half chinese - half Japanese individual is also a talented drummer.

There are 8 members in the band. Yuko the vocalist is also a classically trained pianist and performs traditional dances with the fan and swords, most of them to my knowledge started learning their instruments in childhood. I love this band their live performances are always a feast for the eyes and full of energy. They also do some beautiful ballads. In the relatively short time I have been following them they have quickly become one of my favourite bands of all time.

Great reaction 👍 This concert was meant to be your New Year's concert but was postponed until August due to the pandemic. They were only allowed to let 5k spectators in a hall that seats 17k spectators. Everyone had to wear a face mask and was not allowed to sing loudly or shout. Therefore, this version lacks response from the audience approximately in the middle of the song This song is about the westernization of Japan, which happened during the Meiji Restoration. Despite having an upbeat, oriental track, the song contains rather dark themes, mentioning guillotines and ICBMs. In addition, the lyrics state things such as "Songs of lament go unheard" and "This is a banquet inside a steel jail cell".
