The instrument you like is called a Shamisen. Beni Ninagawa is a master at it, she has a RU-vid channel where she used to post covers of song using the Shamisen. She is awesome.

They are more popular than Babymetal in Japan. Also they were selected to play at the 2020 Olympics in Japan. Beni Ninagawa has as many as 4 Shamisens at a concert each tuned for certain songs with a "tech" to retune them as Beni swaps them. The "paint scrapper" is called a Bachi.

The traditional instruments are wadaiko (drums), koto (harp), shakuhachi (bamboo flute), shamisen (guitar like). There's also traditional element in the singing, called shigin. They have more soft, traditional music and ballads, also other songs heavier than this. They mix a lot of genres. Some titles i can say: Ikusa, Ignite, Hoshizukiyo, Tori no yuni, Synchronicity, Kishikaisei, Strong faith, Tengaku, Yoshiwara lament, Shiromadara, Sasameyuki, World domination.

I have to correct 1 song here. World domination is an album (not a song) by Band-Maid, not Wagakki band.

Tsugaru shamisen...played with a "pick" called a bachi. The second traditional instrument is called a Koto. The flute is called a Shakuhachi (8-holed flute).

Exactly, the STYLE is called Tsugaru, she play it with a Futozao (Thick Neck Size) Futozao is commonly used for tsugaru style or gidayu style.

In the early part of the 20th century, blind musicians, including Shirakawa Gunpachirō Takahashi Chikuzan , and sighted players such as Kida Rinshōei evolved a new style of playing, based on traditional folk songs ("min'yō") but involving much improvisation and flashy fingerwork. This style - now known as Tsugaru-jamisen, after the home region of this style in the north of Honshū - continues to be relatively popular in Japan. The virtuosic Tsugaru-jamisen style is sometimes compared to bluegrass banjo.
