wagakki band is an amazing group, no matter how many times I watch the video of that concert, it always gives me goosebumps and it's a roller coaster of emotions, the fusion they make between modern instruments and traditional instruments together with the vocalist's very particular voice gives a unique and very satisfactory result to listen to 😎👌🏻 I hope you can make more reactions from this great band 😊
This is the song that got me listening to this band. The guitar playing reminds me of Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson. Love how they incorporate traditional instruments as well.
I had the same reaction when Beni N stepped up to the stage. sold me on this group along with Atkatsuko no ito and the dancing. The costumes and hair were a selling point also.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the thumbnail❤️, and I'm so glad you ended up with a smile on your face. I simply love this performance, because I feel the band is conveying such energy and joy. It really looks and sounds like they're having a splendid time on stage. And the way they all seem to have their own musical project going, but it all fit seamlessly together. They are so talented all of them❤️. This mix of instruments and genres really makes you love music. Seem like they've contributed with music to several anime: "Gekka Bijin", "Kyoto Teramachi Sonjou no Holmes", "Sengoku Musou" and "Sousei no Onmyouji". There might be more. I only made a quick search. Billboard Japan says that they have the opening theme in an animated series on Funimation that started late march. The series' called Mars Red, and the song's called Aria og life (Seimei no Aria). THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for reacting to this 😊. I LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU 😍. You're my new princess besides my wife, daughters, Moa-chan and Yui-chan ❤️🦊❤️. Oh, btw: Did I mention that I love your reaction?😊
Awe, my heart melted and my passion is burning even more. Thank you for doing a quick search. I thought that I have heared this band before but none of those anime sounds familiar hahaha well now that you mentioned them, I will have to check some and enjoy to watch them on my free time. I'm glad that I have become one of the princess, yay! This band is so interesting, it gives me a break from all the hit genres circling around. Its relaxing and fun, makes me want to float. 🌸
@@Kurisutah You made a great reaction video. We can clearly see all the changing emotions in your face, and it's easy to tell that you're really enjoying yourself 😊. This is a rare piece of music, that when I first heard it really made my jaw drop, and doesn't seem to stop facinating me. Homura is so upbeat and really makes me happy.😊 Then it imidiately shifts over to Akatsuki no Ito, that is mesmerizing. It really shows the skill and variety of the musicians. I love it when music moves me in this way. Not all music does. Thank you again for reacting to this ❤️.
I noticed just now this reaction video has reached 100k views. Don't know when, but congratulations anyway. Well deserved🥰. Now let's go for 200k, shall we😉😊.
yeah beni's entrance is sick, but the funniest thing i ve ever read bout this band is : -"hey guys i just joined a metal band!" -"nice what do you play?" -"the flute" hahahah
Thank you for the react Wagakki Band. 😀 Hibiya yagai ongakudo(日比谷野外音楽堂) mean Hibiya Open air Concert Hall in Tokyo. Many musicians are performing live here.
this was such a lovely reaction, with beautiful comments from you :) very glad u like them, wagakki band is truly incredible! you should check out their newest song and also an anime opening Aria of Life!
Wagakki Band is one of Japan's most popular bands at the moment. They were formed in 2012 under the name hanafugetsu, later that year they switched to the Wagakki Band. They have released 6 albums one EP and have toured in Europe and the United States. Try Ignite, Kagerou, Izana ore Queen of the night (Not live on last one). Choose live performance that is always best with this band.
Seems like live performances gives the best and most of every bands. Thank you for all these recommendations. I can't wait to listen and react on those . Have a good one, and see you 😊
Wagakki's version of Senbonzakura, "Thousand Cherry Trees", is actually a cover of a Hatsune Miku vocaloid song. I believe this is the original version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-shs0rAiwsGQ.html
Nice reaction. Wagakki Band is an amazing band. I recommend you an unusual song - Tsuioku. This is an acoustic version, one of a kind. Only 4 band members play it. It has a lovely melody and a sad text about feelings. (Wagakki Bandō (和 楽 器 バ ン ド) -Tsuioku (追憶) - LIVE Acoustic - Nikko Toshogu 400th Anniversary (2016) :) You can also try the tracks: Izana, Queen of the Night. The latter has a beautiful MV.
Yes!!! I agree 100%. The 4 person acoustic version of Tsuioku has a deep sound that instantly drew me in. I was shocked at how his singing seemed like such real emotion especially at the end of the song. I also highly recommend and think it's a live version that needs to be shared more. Additionally a good counterbalance to that, Synchronicity would be a fun reaction video too :)
Mushi mushi! You never heard Wagakki Band before ?!?!?! WOW. Well.... now you have! They blend a style of traditional with modern. The singer, Yuko Suzuhana, is a national treasure of Japan. And she is loved around the world. Beni Ninagawa on the shamisen is also a favorite among fans. The guys in the band aren't half bad either! Everyone says this band must play at the Tokyo Olympic Games opening ceremonies. I completely AGREE! We need Wagakki Band in the opening ceremonies... and LOVEBITES in the closing ceremonies! ( I'm from the USA, but I love Japan! )
Hey ! thanks a lot! for coming over and sharing stuff about them. Yeah definitely deserving to be part of the Olympics. It will be an honor for the Olympics to have them. Thank you for the like, please come back again for another reaction, thank you Mantis!!!
Beni plays a Tsugaru-style Futozao (Thick Neck Size) Shamisen. The sharp, flashy style of tsugaru was played in the streets by the bousama (blind musicians) who developed a more lively style.Blind musicians at the beginning of the 20th century, including Shirakawa Gunpachiro,Takahashi Chikuzan and sighted players like Kida Rinshoei developed a new style of play, based on traditional folk songs ("min'yo"), but with a lot Improvisation and eye-catching finger work. This style - known as Tsugaru-Jamisen, after the native region in northern Honshu - is relatively popular today in Japan. The virtuoso tsugaru jamisen style is sometimes compared to bluegrass banjo. The classic pick is called Bachi. The koto is a Japanese zither and the national instrument of Japan. The bamboo flute is called a shakuhachi and the second drum kit is a wadeiko The singer's very broad vibrato is typical of Shigin, a traditional poem concert style. Suzuhana Yuko, the singer of the Wagakki Band, began studying the piano at age three and shigin from age five. She graduated from the Tokyo College of Music’s Piano Program. Yuko is currently active as a shigin instructor, singer-songwriter, and pianist. The style of dance that Yuko performs is called Kenshibu ('Sword and Poetry Dance') This is a category of Japanese interpretive dances performed to traditional music with poetry. Kenbu refers to dances that are performed with the help of a sword and Shibu dance with one or more hand fans called Sensu / Ogi (folding fans). The origin is from samurai. In the early Meiji period, Raifu HIBINO (originator of the Shinto school) organized the conventional dancing styles into the current ones by introducing some styles of swordplay. Singing and dancing are performed basically by different persons. The number of performers varies; sometimes one singer and one dancer, but often one singer and two or more dancers. There are no specific costumes for singers, but dancers wear a hakama (divided skirt for men), shiro-tasuki (white sash for holding up tucked sleeves), and shiro-hachimaki (white headband) to express the emotion of the poem. In some dances a fan is used along with a sword.Dancing to shigin with a fan only is called Senbu (literally, "fan dance") or Shimai (literally, "poetry dance"). Kenbu and Senbu can together be called Kensenbu (sword and fan dancing). The mask that Machiya wears is based on the Noe Theater, popular in Japan. Masks are an essential part of the Japanese Noe theater whilst the actors of the Japanese kabuki theater perform without masks. ..
Aaah so good. Love this band, most people take ages to find them! Kudos to the person who suggested it! You should check out their song Tengaku (also live). Beautiful.
Waggaki Band...they arent just musician but they are Gods and Goddess and engineers of their own musical instruments... Suzuhana Yuko - Vocals Machiya - Guitar Asa - Bass Wasabi - Drums Beni Ninagawa - Tsugari Shamisen (traditional 3 string guitar) Kurona - Wadaiko ( traditional drums) Kiyoshi - Koto ( traditional harp) Daisuke - Sakuhachi ( traditional flute) ...madame i recommend to please do comment to their other songs.. -Ignite -Sunwheel -Valkyrie -Okinotayuu -Zenbonsakura -Perfect Blue ( live ) -Subaku no Komoruita -Tengaku - Seime no Aria - Sycnhrocity - Ikusa - Bring me Back to Life with AMY LEE - Homura + Akatsuki no Ito live and still more.. I be following your reactions madame..... im not a japanese.....I one of their Fans.... Im a Filipino... Thank You
Homura is the leading song. The second song, beginning and almost blending in with the lead, is Akatsuki-no-ito. Note: the Shamisen has only 3 strings and yet, Beni makes it sing. They are an amazing combination. Also, I got a good laugh out of the "They are so cute together" line, regarding Asa (Bassist) and Machia (Guitarist)... Asa is a man, and also a recording artist in his own right. Known for his "Vocaloid" recordings.
The Japanese instrument you referenced is a Koto. It's the Japanese offshoot of the older Chinese instrument: the Zheng, which has itself evolved into its modern version the Guzheng ('ancient Zheng') :)
I love your reaction to WGB. I do have to admit that when I see a reactor closing their eyes, I want to scream "DONT DO THAT !!! OPEN YOUR EYES !!! YOULL MISS SOMETHING GREAT !!!"
Welcome to my nightmare..., I mean that in a good way of course. Being an American, I have friends that consider me somewhat strange because I listen to music from all over the world. Some in other languages, like Japanese, Hebrew, Russian, French, and more. I can understand bits and pieces of anything except English (fluent, mostly) even though I speak American (or in the Southern US... Merr Can. As for Wagaki Band I guess this performance is probably my favorite with their performance of Homura/Hagane would have to be a close second. The musicians are each top notch talent. From the beginning I have been Intrigued by Asa... 100% male, but the female appearance is his gimmick... I'm not gay, not even curious, but some of the shots of Asa that I have seen, he portrays a female to the point of confusion... which means he's beautiful, DAMN IT! Keep exploring their music, you will be more impressed with every performance.
Hi there! 🖐 First of all thank u for watching my reaction, giving a wonderful comment. 2nd, is that there's nothing wrong being weird, I am weird and I think everybody is weird in their own ways that its crucial part of who we are. I grew up in the Philippines where they play and listen to any type of music too and that made me open to any kind of music/language. Its fun to pick up few words or phrases. I love anime growing up, (till now) and everything Nihon attracts me so so much. I'm not sure yet which one is "Asa" but I'll search for it. Beautiful men are gorgeous,I can't comprehend how they can look much more of a woman than I am. 😄 I totally get what you're saying Un! Can't wait to do more reactions from them. Any next song suggestion?
@@Kurisutah next song suggestion, Tsuioku, an acoustic piece featuring Machia, Asa, and Wasabi, oops I forgot Kurona on the Koto, his part while not vocal, really sets this performance apart. Machia and Asa blend vocally quite well. Asa, has a slightly lower voice, and as a backup singer, fits in great. I have watched a few of his solo and other band performances... personally, I don't care for him singing alone... but, to each their own. I was stationed at Subic Bay for a year, the countryside is beautiful as are the people.
Awesome talent and superlative musicianship. A collection of wonderfully talented musicians creating their own genre with superb showmanship. Nothing in the west to touch them.
Akatsuki no Ito ↓、 part of the lyrics We sing to the sky Cross the sea, cross the rainbow, May this song reach you ... Apparently it arrived
If you wish to listen to more Wagakki Band songs I recommend Senbonsakura, Yoshiwara Lament, Rokuchounen to Ichiya Monogatari, Synchronicity, Kishikaisei. They have plenty of songs that are a joy to listen to. They are not afraid to try new things and I believe you would love them.
ohhh thanks for those list, I am so thankful for your comment. well I already like them to begin with, watch out for the next coming reaction. Ill see you soon Thanks!
Great reaction to Wagakki Band. Yes, they are Jedi-level musicians. Band was founded by the lead singer, Suzuhana Yuko. The reason you feel like you have heard that is because these instruments are often used in movie soundtracks when they want to convey "Japanese" atmosphere.
if anyone can tell me where I can find English Translation to there Lyrics Id be so stoked . I have been playing guitar since I was 19 Years old and Im 52 now I'm not your normal old Fuddy duty guy lol I love music Next to my love of God its the most amazing thing in the entire world and this band is just awesome PS I Live in Oklahoma Wagkki band if your listening COME HERE AND PLAY PLEASE !! LOL
That flute player gonna suck your soul outa your body and bring you to a journey. Been Japan music lover for years, kpop fans should open their mind to Japanese music too
Wagakki Band did the intro for Mars Red this season if you've seen it, but they have done a few other anime before that. They are way more massive than I thought, tried to get tickets to see them a couple of times but missed out. If you're after another solid Japanese band, check out Unlucky Morpheus, their tribute to Andre Matos in Carry On Singing To The Sky is amazing (also all in English). They're pretty heavy, but if you want something more rock check out Ningen Isu, those old guys know how to knock one out of the park.
this is the only video where i can hear the guitar tapping at 6:48 really clearly.. Asa's bass in Homura also more pronounced than the original concert video.. how?
There's some great music happening in the pop world too, but you usually will need to look outside of top 40s lol. I would recommend LAY's new album which mixes pop, hip hop, etc with old style instruments. (You should react to the mv for his song Lit for sure). Another incredible artist is Rina Sawayama. Her new album also mixes a lot of different genres and the music videos are great too (try XS).
Could you react to Versailles - Faith and Decision live. It's also japanese just the musicianship is next level. Me being japanese I would like to see reaction to it.
I love your reaction! You're funny :) Wagakki Band is my favourite group, they have soo many songs that i love. Yoshiwara Lament is one of my favourites ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DD6LHfm5AZY.html but is really hard to choose a favourite one. Hakanaku mo utsukushii no wa is amazing too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-huH-TpsYyPM.html. Also Strong Fate, Synchronicity, Senbonzakura, etc. I hope you enjoy more of their songs Saludos!
LOL When I first watched that video I needed to say something loud like "what the hell did I just watch?" and I needed 3 tries because my tongue stumbled. No brain left, completely occupied.
Can't understand why people in the west like in the USA are much more interested in Babymetal then the Wagakki band. The Wagakki band's music is so unique with their blend of many popular western genres with traditional Japanese folk music. But the USA and probably Europe as well get into Babymetal much more then the Wagakki band or any other Japanese band. Hell in the USA they even have a very cheap copycat imitation of Babymetal called Poppy.
