***PLEASE READ***
If attempting this wah mod, please follow the wiring instruction of the 1st 'Wah Mod' video for the switch, ie; switching the black and green wires round after scratching away the connection on the PCB from the clean input.
If you have bought a Jim Dunlop Crybaby Wah Pedal then I am sure that you are aware that it does not have an LED to show that the effect is on or not. In this video I will show you how to install an LED into your pedal, so that when you turn your pedal on the LED lights up to show you it is on as well.

Thanks, I wouldn't have even attempted this mod if you hadn't made this tutorial. Excellant. All working fine. Only bit i found confusing was the black n green wire thing (as i couldn't work out why you'd soldered them to the place you originally put them) but swapped them over and that done the trick. Can't thank you enough. cheers

Really awesome, but why put the LED on a heavily used moving part? It seems that it could lead to early malfunction.

Thanks for this! Performed this mod on my mates crybaby and then on my own budda bud-wah. The Bud-wah PCB is harder to 'hack into' than the crybaby but the true bypass is aready done fo you which makes things easier.

Hi. I made the true bypass mod that you explained in the part 1. Is it possible to add the led without changing the 6 pins switch?

Hi, Cappi! I've tried to solder LED like You did, but it doesn't go, it doesn't blow. ;/ Is there any chance to solder it different way? BTW: I love your voice and accent. Kinda reminds me Ghost from MW2 ;D

I too find that a bit confusing, I'm planning to do this mod soon to my ZW-45. So really if i scratch the circuit, and connect the clean input signal wire (from the first video) then follow the stuff in this video it should be grand, and don't need to worry about switching wires as it's a different switch from the first video? Thanks

Yes I did cut the track, but I really didn't understand what you meant with "switch the black and green wires round"?

Thanks that helped me out, but now I realized another problem, that the led goes on in bypass mode after a while, otherwise the led works fine, do you have any ideas what may cause the problem here?

hey mate thanks for the awesome vid did this today with my crybaby only thing i would recommend is using a 510ohm Resistor for the LED if u want it brighter i tried a 2k one and because i planned on putting the light under the treadle it was barely noticeable. however if your LED is on the exterior, 2k is fine thanks again mate!

ok man now i got it. just some technical question. resistor watt? 1/4? LED brightness? and another question... when i got to power supply to the LED i got to take negative resistor wire to the switch and the other to the LED or viceversa? thanks for the help but i didn't understand all the speech :D

I haven't put the LED in yet (haven't bought it yet) but I have the same switch and changed it all to true bypass today - one thing I very nearly did wrong was get the switch the wrong way round - easily done because it's a square, but can you see how the little lugs are horizontal? Are yours definitely like that? I started to wire mine in with them vertical before I realised...!

Will it really have to be a 2k resistor? I am not an electrician so that's 2000 Ohms right? Because...I ordered some LEDs a few weeks ago to modify some of my pedals (work fine) and these LEDs came with 470 (+-5%) Ohms resistors. What's the worst thing that can happen..??? The LED would burn, right...but no harm to the Wah I guess!? Would you be able to upload some High Definition Pictures of the spots where you soldered the Leads to the Board and an overall view of the Leads, Switch; PCB etc.

Is it possible to run it as true bypass but now wiring up an LED yet? Is the switch part cheap. Im thinking about doing the true bypass first then adding an LED when i have time to buy it. Would it work if i don't hope up an LED to a 3PDT switch?

You've made a really clear and user friendly video here Chris - is this just for interest's sake? Because I hope if you do electronics at school you're going to get some kind of credit for this :-) Cheers anyway - getting an LED tomorrow, wired in the 3PDT switch already. I decided to drill a hole in the back wall of the base (by your heel) rather than use the pre-drilled one.

I have a question, is there a way of making the pedal to continuously go from open to close (by adding an oscillator) without moving your foot, when the foot moves it controls the speed of the continuous oscillation. And being able to set this up as an alternative mode with a switch. Switch is off, normal cry baby. Switch is on, continuous wah crying.

Upside down wouldn't matter, long as it's not sideways. You'd still be connecting to the right poles of the 3 switches, doesn't matter which switch switches which.

no the thing i didn't understand... 1 of black wires starting from a resistance goes directly on the swith, an other goes with the resistence, right? is there difference on which of 2 resistence i link directly to the switch? and resistance 2k ohm 1/4 watt is good or i need higher w?

Man i have a little different layout. I see at the beginning you have a switch with 6 "ways", with blue, purple, black and green wires in it. In my dunlop crybaby i have a 3 ways switch, with purple and blue on right and green in left. My black wire goes from the potentiometer to the 8 ways pin.. what should i do?

It is a bit too bright for me. If i wanted to go for about half the brightness, would i go for a 4K resistor? (i'm not an electrician, but this just seems logical!)

My question seems similiar to others here - how do you know if the switch's connectors are in the correct position? Is top-left always #1 and bottom-right #9, or does the switch's connectors have dedicated positions? Great vid!

It is a double throw switch... so it is symmetrical. As long as you are looking a it so the solder tabs are horizontal, it doesn't matter which way up it is. This is why there aren't PIN numbers. I'm sure you've already figured this out by now ;)

man i got a problem. didn't very understand what you did from 2.28 to 2.50,now the LED won't work and when i activate the crybaby it makes a "POP" and doesn't work, and when activated it's as if ampli is OFF. any help?

I'm having the same issue, but I don't see where you scratch the pcb and switch the wires in the first video. Where am I suppose to scratch it?

The GREEN wire is the CLEAN INPUT from the jack socket. It runs through the pcb and wiring connect plug! The BLACK wire is the FX INPUT! It goes to the buffered input stage. Other tbp mods: stinkfoot.se/archives/546

Hi guys, I just did this mod but the LED is always on, I got the the same 3pdt. Can someone tell me what's wrong. Is it the switch or did I mess something while connecting the led. The rest seems to work fine....Thanx in advance !

Now, I'm kind of confused cause when you show the position where you hook up all the wires at first the holes of the switch "lugs" are vertical and when you are soldering they are horizontal. Hopefully you can clear that for me if you can Cappi!!!!!! Thanks for the vid BTW!!!!!!!!

Follow the instructions in the description bar from the True Bypass vid. The link to the visual reference picture to show you where you need to cut the track in the PCB is also the the description bar of the same video. Hope that helps

Great tutorial! I'm trying to do this on rev i pcb which apparently is true bypass and comes already with a fase inductor without modification. My problem is that rev i pcb is a bit different from the one that is shown on the video and the switch isn't wired the same way as the one that is added on the true bypass tutorial (even though it has 6 pins). Does anyone know how to add a led to a cry baby with rev i pcb?

Figured this one out. Where people seem to be getting stuck is the position of the Switch and the soldering., I creatd a CORRECT diagram using StinkFoot's True Bypass and LED combined.
