What the guy was trying to say: I won this game, but I really shouldn't have, I just happened to play better than my opponent. I made some mistakes like missrallying or having a late cybernetics core, but my "slow" (low eco/defensive) early game was on purpose. My opponent pulled SCVs to kill the scouting probe, and I, being aware that terran (the timing race) has so many timings, decided to play 4gate blink and "slow" my eco. I am actually a diamond 2 zerg (toss being my offrace) and I can defend hellbat marauder all ins very well when playing zerg with the QLash opener (a zerg build). However toss doesn't have QLash opening (because its a zerg build) and it would be trolling to play pure zealot against a hellbat all in. In this game the terran managed to play a TvZ build in a TvP and despite being prepared, OVERprepared even (remember, I played a "slow" defensive build), I am surprised at how well hellbats do against buildings, and they kill my undefended third. During the midgame, I manage to get a lot of vision around the map (to see if any attacks or drops are coming) but my opponent, not satisfied with a non-viable build, decides to also play a non-viable unit composition that is mech and hellbats. I was really not prepared to play PvT vs mech. Before the game, I checked out reddit (r/allthingsprotoss) to find some advice on how to beat mech with protoss, but all they told me is how mech vs protoss is not viable and I should never lose against it (very helpful - sarcastic). However, I heard that a 2-2 zealot timing vs mech counters tanks and thors (not hellbats, but I mixed in some archons in order to not float gas and to tank damage). I could talk about the mid game or late game some more, but i'm not gonna waste your time more than I already did.

kisses to the captain :D about the slow early, the core was late by mistake, i put the raly far away of pylon. but the real thing that was on purpose was cut workers and make early gates(i dont have any map vision at this point) so i just sit back and overdefend. when i saw hellions(was a mistake send stalker without blink) i think that hellions dont make really damage to buildings, so i can take a 3th and defend my probes, so when i defend the attack i would have a early 3th with probres(compensating my overdefend) im a chilean player that explain my english

I think the real question is 'do I deserve a win with atrocious micro ?' He lost fight where he should not to a non viable composition. He won because he has a better macro. The imba is about being punished. Is 'not being punished' imba? Yes. The entire meta about balance is that you get punished if you did something wrong.

I feel "gg" is like tapping out in MMA. You can't say, "actually it wasn't that deep, let's keep fighting!"

Just to clarify, someone probably already did though but i couldn't find it. SCVs and Hellbats are the only units that are both Mechanical (meaning they can get repaired) and biological (meaning they can be healed). It's the "tag" of the unit that matters. All mechanical units/buildings can be repaired and all Biological units can be healed.

I don't think the first gg was an offensive gg, because when players give the offensive gg they almost never give another gg when you beat them.

i think he wanted to know how to reliably beat mech because he thinks he should have lost and didn't know how he actually won. I think you maybe kinda answered that with outexpanding getting more ressources, moving faster etc. He wanted to know what to focus on when beating mech i guess.

SCV Repair only works on structures and units that have a Mechanical tag, while Medivacs can only heal units that have a Biological tag. the only units that have both these tags are Hellbats and SCVs (unless we delve into things like coop mode where most of stukov's units also have both tags). In team games SCVs can therefore repair any mechanical Protoss unit, but not the protoss buildings as those do not have a mechanical tag (in coop mode they do though)

Going to try to post an analysis of my best guess at noobdomg's form: Thesis Statement: I win this game, I shouldn't however i play better than my opponent way better. Batshit translation: I should have been stomped by this unstoppable mech, I only won because my skill is better than my opponents, but it was harder than I thought it needed to be. the rest of this feels like a narcissist with adhd... 1) I slow my eco by cutting workers to afford 4 gate blink faster. Captain explains why this is a bad idea 2)Other races I play can defend against hellion marauder, but all toss gets is to suicide zealots. 3)He "correctly identifies" the build as popular in tvz, laughs at the terran for not knowing a tvp, then manages to lose his third anyway even though he "overprepared". 4)He gets his ring of vision and laughs at his opponents shit comp, but then says he wasn't prepared for mech. 5)Then he goes into how he decided a 2-2 zealot "timing" would be good starting +1 at 10 minutes... 6) He gives up writing here, you're left going back to the thesis statement for some sense of purpose. Overall it looks like he's whining and complaining while simultaneously trying to signal that he's the shit. "Look at this super hard win I did"

I am convinced this form is Noobdomg complaining that beating mech with Protoss is significantly easier than beating it with Zerg. With how sippycup played however, I can’t imagine it would be that tough either way. Most diamond mech players I run into would never consider leaving their side of the map until a nice safe 200/200.

low level player here... I think noobdomg just didn't realize how badly he microed his army. I've had it happen many times to me where I thought (based on my "feeling" of how the match was going), that it was impossible for my opponent to hold, but they did anyway. Obviously protoss had a severe worker lead for a looooong time, but wasn't able to capitalize on it because he threw away his army multiple times without realizing just how bad the trade was (or they wouldn't have cried imba). There was also a substantial amount of time where terran was stuck on two base and floating over 1k minerals while the protoss's spending was actually ok-ish (at least at that time). I suspect they think that such a severe eco lead means they can 1A blindly.

Honestly it's insane to me how it's so consistent that people sending videos for the IMBA stuff don't really even seem to look at the rewind of the games they're sending before sending it. I'm bad myself, I rarely play 1v1 and I'm technically plat but realistically I have like a 20% win rate, no clue why I got put plat. But being awful aside, certain things are just so obvious without needing others to look at it. At about 13:00 Protoss just saw (or could've seen) that the Terran was on 2 bases, and the position they took shortly after for like 3 minutes basically screamed "Hey Terran is just turtled up and building" Protoss if he wanted could've just hard focused on the macro and been up an insane amount. Instead about 3 minutes later he gained about 40 supply worth of units and teched into Archons & storm... against mech? Like idk, I feel the "They're turtled and my comp doesn't do well running into a tank line" is pretty obvious, with the clear answer being focus on macro and get a counter. Tempests to just out range and snipe units, phoenix to pick up tanks and/or harass, disruptors to just send orbs and hope, etc. Hell even just immortals since they hit armor really hard, but Archons and storm I feel is like bottom of the priority list. Archons would do decent against the hellbats I guess, storm would do some damage as well, but I'd probably rather just like double my eco and tech up to tempests or carriers as soon as it's clear the Terran is turtled on 2 bases and not making any moves.

Midgame, I managed to gain significant vision, but my opponent, after building a subpar unit comp to begin with, switched to mech and hellbat. I was not prepared for his mech strategy. Before the game I tried to study protoss vs mech, but r/allthingsprotoss only mentioned that mech is not a viable comp, and protoss should win in that matchup. This lack of meaningful information was not helpful. I did, however, hear that a 2-2 zealot timing is good, as it can counter tanks and thors. As zealots do not do well against hellbat, I decided to make archons to not float gas and to tank. Medivacs can heal any ''allied'' or ''player owned'' ''biological unit'' where as SCV's can ''repair'' ''any'' ''mechanical'' unit or ''structure'', that is ''allied'' or ''player owned''. Stalkers are not considered bioloigcal, they are considered ''Armored'' and ''Mechanical'' I don't know why blizzard chose to change hellions from mechanical, to biological when they transform into hellbats, I think personally that might have been a mistake. Originally, when hellbats models where released, they first used a version that had a more visible pilot terran who could be seen for a few seconds inside during the transformation, known as the ''alpha hellbat''which can be found hidden in the heart of the swarm dependency, but this model was scrapped and replaced later, during legacy of the void, about 6 months after legacy of the voids release, Erroneously thinking (I believe) that hellbats where bioloigcal because the terran could be more easily seen, or perhaps seen as little different from a marauder, they added the attribute to its data, known as the ''Unit: Attributes'' flags. In the attribute flags, a hellion is considered ''Light'' and ''Mechanical'' where as a hellbat, is considered ''Light'' ''Biological'' and ''Mechanical''. There was a time when Hellbats changed their Attributes even further, becoming ''Armored'' instead of ''Light'' but blizzard reversed this at some point during the patches. There are very few units like this, and the stalker is not one of them. It cannot be healed by medivacs, it can only be repaired by SCV's.

When it comes to gg I would say be like Idra and get out when you gg. To many low league players (my level) gg as bm (offensive gg) or I also have been tricked into stop playing by a "fake" gg.

Is this the plat level nowadays on sc2? I just played like 100 games in the span of 7/8 years, but last month i tried some vs IA games, and at least i had more macro than both those player. Maybe is the ia thats set so low that the second highest difficulty is easy to beat, but i thought that was a silver game, with that resources flooded and 0 workers in the first 9 mins

Reading between the lines, what I think the poster is asking is: Isn't it unfair (i.e. IMBA) that Protoss can so comfortably beat Mech Terrans of similar skill levels? He thinks he should have lost because he's off-racing as Protoss, he probably often loses to Terran Mech as Zerg, the opponent has better micro, and poster doesn't know the ideal Protoss strategy to deal with Terran Mech. He doesn't understand why Terran Mech is so bad against Protoss and thinks it must be IMBA.

Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?

Yeah yyou can repair any Mechanical unit, this includes immortals which can be slightly spicy

A diamond 2 zerg offracing as toss vs. a plat mech-terran and winning after 22 mins. The toss player is obviously better but doesn't quite understand how toss works. You see hellions, you see tanks, but you build your first immortal after 8 mins. The entire game he's low on Robo units. You see 16 mines bit you don't build a colossus or especially a Disruptor. So, what our Diamond 2 friend doesn't undertsand is that Robo units utterly destroy mech-terran. Yes he's a way better player, having 4 bases vs. 2 base terran, even 5 bases when the terran builds his 3rd. More than that, the map vision, the eco everything shows us that he's a much better player. From my point of view, the imba report is about struggling to win, which I undersand. Building mass Carriers is in fact desperation mode. Beacuse he doesn't undestand the toss race. Also, if you watch closely, there is no spell caster. Chargelots, archons, carriers. I undersand that a zerg player would struggle with Protoss spell casters. The terran player is 100% terran player. Saying gg and still staying in the game for several minutes :)) In conclusion, yes, it is imba that it takes 22 minutes to defeat as Toss a weaker terran player. Gateway units suck. They are not good in combat, strictly made for harassment. We can see this 4-gate blink opener as roach timing. But stalkers are not good ground units. They are pretty good vs Air. They are ok-ish vs hellion-hellbat, but definetely not good vs. Tanks and later Thors. Obviously not good vs. mass-mines. Chargelots also suck vs. hellbats and mines. So, at some point, I agree that terran is imba, but Protoss didn't build the correct army comp. Widow Mines are OP. I think we can 100% agree on that. Pro Players also struggle with them. So I really don't understand the Balamce Counsil decision to double-nerf the Baneling but give a small buff to the Mines. Why faster unborrow? What is the problem? And why they are supposed to unborrow? Have you ever seen a mine which can be unborrowed? I remember the times when the Terrans had Vultures. They could mine the field. I think it was rather ok. You borrow a mine and that's that. But making the mine a unit it's just silly IMHO. Thank you for reading. Love the comment ❤
