@@famfirst1387yeah tournament championship run* would be much more appropriate. Saying final four run is giving the impression that’s all they made it to.
@@vjay714no its equivalent to saying Jokic had a good playoff run. Is very valid, to say a good championship specifying only the championship is actually less factual. He had a good run the entire final 4 was the sentiment
That’s crazy mentioning Tech and Jarrett Jack , like unlocked a memory I forgot I had , Tech went all the way to the Finals and lost to UConn and Uncle Okafor , Jesus I’m old as shit that I remember that. Back when I followed those Tournys religiously, Juan Dixon at Maryland , Melo at Cuse , that’s the shit I grew up on , I miss that era. Back then I Never thought I’d live to see a 16 beat a 1 , and within the past 10 years it’s happened twice , goes to show how far the game has grown , there’s so much talent all across the nation no team is safe and no team can be counted out. I don’t follow as much as I use to cause that’s how life goes the older you get you have more responsibilities, but damn hearing him shout out Jarrett Jack just took me back man .
A 16 seed can beat a 1 seed now because the top teams are all freshman now. In the early 2000s. The team would have 2 freshman, 1 senior, 1 junior and a sophomore.
@@sirprentisswatson2020 in Georgia people normally weren’t into College basketball as much as football, but I also lived in Louisville Ky , in Louisville most the teachers would put the games on during class lol or one teacher would have the game on in the other room , but your class wouldn’t , then you’d hear hysterical cheering next door when someone hit a buzzer beater 😂 between UofL and UK someone was always one of the top 5 seeds , not to mention all the little schools in Kentucky that have also had solid appearances, WKU , Morehead , Murray st , EKU , NKU , etc, that’s probably why I use to get so into it
No way. McNamara and Melo got us the chip. We’ve had no combo like that since. Melo is the best player that has come through Syracuse. As freshman. If Melo stayed for 4 years maybe but Melo got cuse a chip
He may not have won a chip in the NBA, but he had a heck of a career USA Olympics, and with my Knicks, he was fun 2 watch at least he won a championship in college
He would still be in the NBA if he went to Carolina cause he would have developed a all around game and wouldnt be a ball hog jack he would of been forced to play real basketball and learn to pass💯🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
UNC already had freshman Jawad Williams and plus not to mention Rashad McCants, May and David Noel, plus Melo would've had to share time with Jawad Williams and Reyshawn Terry.. UNC messed up signing Jawad Williams early in the season recruiting.. So Melo going to Cuse was good cuz it was a SF spot open for him to start.
I had a history class at Syracuse with Carmelo and tbh he showed up maybe 3 times and was late all 3 times and was disrespectful as hell.. took phone calls in class and told students who shushed him to shut up and asked if they knew who he was.. and somehow he passed the class. You really can't comprehend the life of privilege this dude has had since he was a teenager all because he was good at a game kids play at recess.
As a man in my 40s born and raised in Syracuse NY, I’d like to say Thank You CARMELO ANTHONY for what you’ve done for our city. This is your 2nd home and you’re always welcomed here, we Love you. SYRACUSE ORANGE 2003 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPS! 🏀
Bra a college Big 3 of Melo Bosh and Jarrett Jack at Georgia Tech woulda been so OP. Georgia Tech already made the 2004 Final Four with just Jack after Bosh got drafted 😭
If Melo had been drafted by Detroit, Here's what would have happened. 1. Dave Bing would have been his mentor. 2. He would have had Chauncey , Ben , Rip , Tayshaun , Lyndsay , To many Veterans to respect to not have adapted to a team concept. 3. His stats 21ppg 6 rpg 3/4 ast would have been the same but more efficient. He would have made the same difference as Sheed. Reason being his added offense would have the same impact as Sheed's defense. 4. Tayshaun would be 6th man supreme 5. D.C would have schooled him on Detroit culture and he would have been so comfortable. 6. FA difference makers , who fit would have signed with the Pistons. Between 2004-2016 the Pistons would have won at least 8 to 10 chips. 7. LeBron never takes over the league. Tell me what you think.
People keep saying that like they know something....yes, NY offered the most money....and Chi was essentially ready to win if he went there....BUT, do you know what it would've done to his life (career, and personal life if he won in NYC (where he was born and lived for the the first 9 years of his life...where his wife is from?)
@LeRoi33073 Wym like we know something? Everyone knew he was never going to win in NY. They never had a championship team to begin with, even with Melo there.
@DarkDarkXIV not true...that year in free agency was Phil Jackson's first year as President or whatever he was. Everyone had hope Phil would help build a championship team, including Melo (and possibly even eventually coach it)...as we know everything went to 5h1t under Jackson, and a lot of people feebily blamed Melo.
To me it's harder to win a college chip, than a NBA chip. You can get eliminated in 1 game. Sometimes you will play a team in the tournament your not to familiar with, and you literally only have max 4 years to win a chip. Chances of winning a college chip is probably like 10% or less.
Carmelo deserved a ring, Bron and Wade should've brought him to Miami instead of Bosh, respectfully. Kid took down a stacked Kansas team with multiple All-Americans, absolute legend.
