Fun fact: When I first learned about Orrimaarko through the Star Wars: Rebellion PC game, I thought he was the same species as Emperor Palpatine, wrinkled foreheads and all...
Han doesn't turn from his conversation with Lando & then climb the ramp to the Falcon. For one thing, the Falcon can be seen clearly in the size shot as being behind Lando's left shoulder. But more importantly, as Han climbs the ramp, you can see to the left of frame a blaster cannon, with the distinct circular shroud you see on an Imperial Shuttle.
I think I as a kid figured out he wasn't a Jabba's Palace character by the photo used on the card which clearly is a spaceship set. And later at some point I saw a still of the briefing scene room where you could actually see the Dressellians hang out to the side.
Some how (perhaps from that coloring book you showed) I did think he had a Jabba the hut connection, but I recall also knowing he was a rebel. I guess I thought he was undercover with Lando in Jabba's palace, but I wasn't sure.
I can totally relate to people thinking Prune Face was a Jabba's Palace alien. That's what I thought as a kid when I got the Kenner Prune Face action figure to add to my collection. Great memories.
I had Prune Face in my childhood Jabba scenes. I also had that same colouring book and it was also second hand and someone had also coloured it strangely (“wrong”). I discovered much later that he was a rebel. I also decided he was undercover at the palace. Thanks for the video. The intro was especially interesting.
I think you're right by calling him perhaps the most obscure character Kenner released. I can't believe I actually have this figure in my collection from childhood. I'm missing quite a few more prominent figures but I got Pruneface. I just finished setting up my Hasbro throne room with vintage Jabba and will now reconsider if Pruneface will get a spot in the diorama. He would look right at home.
I was one of the kids who thought that Prune Face appeared in Jabba's Palace and that he was a bad guy. At 1:22 you mention 'a hooded figure going into the Millennium falcon'. I think Han Solo and this hooded figure are walking into the stolen Shuttle to take off to Endor(?) If the hooded figure was (a)Prune Face that would mean he would be among the rebel team aboard the shuttle.. Thanks for another interesting video!
I only recently became aware he was a good guy. Got a loose vintage Kenner fig at my local comic shop in the spring. They had just bought a jumbled up collection, and we looked him up to sort out which rifle and cape/cloak went with him. I was surprised to see him in the alliance stills!
This has blown my mind! I've never spotted him or his species in ROTJ ever! He was always a bad guy in Jabba's Palace when I used to play with my figures 😂
I think I figured this out early on, probably because of the art work on the figure card. The background was not Jabba's palace; it looked like the rebel fleet. Maybe one of my friends pointed it out.
I don't think I had ever seen Prune Face before this video, but it's always nice to learn more about obscure characters from my favorite franchise. So thank you for that! I also find it very interesting that two different people came up with an Alien design that looked pretty similair to eachothers.
I really appreciate your deep dives into the characters as well as the Roll Calls. West End Games was a great resource back in the day. The Star Wars Roleplaying game was awesome and I devoured all of the source guides.
I loved the Kenner figure as a kid, but I must confess I never knew who or what he was - I used him as a Jabba goon. I think if the cloak was more like the Rebel camouflage pattern it might have helped. Hasbro did remake him in the Power of The Force line and later in the Legacy collection (and also his buddy(?) Major Panno).
It’s funny seeing characters being put on the wrong side in the adaptation process. Reminds me of when that happens in the He-man/MOTU line. Where Zodac was initially conceived as a bad guy, but the people in charge of the cartoon made him more of a neutral sided guy. Or when Triclops first appeared in a pack in comic as a honorable warrior that just happened to be hired by the baddie Skeletor. Nicely done informative video overall 👍.
My early childhood toy-acquisition is mostly lost in the mists of time, but Prune Face is the one Kenner action figure I distinctly remember picking out at the store. And yes, I always just assumed he was a bad guy when I played with him, too!
when I collected POTF 2 line in the mid to late 90s, a Prune Face figure was released. And that was the first time finding out that Prune Face was actually a good guy and not bad guy from Jabba's palace. Not only that bet Prune Face had a name, Orrimaarko. Those were some great times.
Really interested in the character you pointed out at 2:22 I won’t even try to type the name lmao but that design is so cool and different. Awesome video as always!
Great video about Prune Face and the appearances in Return of the Jedi, as well as the history of this sculpture replica. Neat that he could be a distant relative of E.T. Looks great, thanks for the unique details! Thanks!
I had the original figure but I never knew who he was. I think I assumed he was a good guy because he had rebel trousers like the rebel soldiers on Endor. I can't remember if I played with him as a good or bad guy though. I need to speak to my Brother about him. Thanks for the video!
I got the figure but I wasn't sure where he fitted in. I knew he wasn't one of Jabbas lot and a few years later I got to see ROTJ again and spotted him in that rebel scene. I still have him, he is a cool figure with that Western style rifle.
As kids, my friends and I thought these guys were some of the Bothans who stole the Death Star plans (referred to by Mon Mothma at the briefing). I always thought it was a big missed opportunity when Timothy Zahn and West End Games made the Bothans some other furry species.
He looks like he could be a relative of Snoke. Lol I have the potf or potj version of him. I didn’t really remember him but I like all sorts of different kinds of aliens.
always wondered if Prune Face was based on concept art for Palpatine. He kind of has the same eyes as the hologram of the Emperor from ESB, and him and Palpatine share similar forhead wrinkles. Also, WHEN THE FACE IS A PRUNE, ACTION GOES BOOM!!!
Somehow my parents knew he was good and told me. I’m not sure how they knew. This was the 80s. I thought he was in Jabba’s palace and with the rebels later. Was there other info out there about Prune Face other than the coloring book and role playing book?
In your own video about Hermie Odle at 2:23 you can see that Prune Face is #35 on the list of Jabba's Goons so he was intended to be there at some point. Interestingly Nien Nunb and Mon Calamari are also on that list. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JHH_yRPgxM4.html
Rest assured that the entertainment value of your killer videos are not indicated by the view counts. At least you have more views than Gordon Tarpley, who actually WORKS on STAR WARS productions, playing and manufacturing various robots and components in addition to contributing to other Hollywood productions, but whose RU-vid videos get, like, 7 views each. Can't figger THAT one out
