Never Ever Getting Rid Of Me from Waitress the Musical Original Broadway Cast Recording. Performed by Christopher Fitzgerald as Ogie, and Kimiko Glenn as Dawn. Follow me! mssammiller instagr.am/mssammiller
Christopher Fitzgerald voice is insane!! i saw him on a movie a while ago and i didn't know he was such a good singer. also this along is so catchy! love it. my favorite from the musical.
This may sound weird, and it's probably just me, but whenever I hear Christopher Fitzgerald's voice, he always seems like a more young and, arguably, more condensing Mathew Broderick to me. :p What do you think?
It's not creepy. Not when you add context, at least. He's not saying it in a stalkerish obsessed kind of way. He's trying to prove that he's loyal. He's not gonna show up and then ghost her and break her heart by just leaving. Dawn is afraid of love because she sees Becky and Jenna's horrible relationships. Love is unexpected and so Dawn "stick[s] with real things" because evidence is stable and since it's all numbers it never changes. She knows what to expect. That's also why she likes "how most days end up exactly the same". Ogie is trying to show that he's not any of the things she fears about love. He's loyal and compassionate. "What if I like him and he knows it"; Ogie can sense the bit of chemistry and compatibility between them. Dawn is just in denial for fear of getting hurt. He's only being that persistent because he knows if Dawn puts down her walls then they actually have a chance.
Man, I had never seen the musical, only the movie, and so without any context I thought that this was the husband singing. Context helps...but it's still a deeply creepy song. (Also I LOOOOVE THIS SONG)
It’s TERRIFYING though they had one date of 5 minutes when she said she never wanted to see him again and he shows up at her work and sings her a song saying he’ll never leave when she asks him to wtf
I don't see how he's obsessive,, maybe really affectionate and clingy they have the healthiest relationship out of everyone else you can even use the cat as a example how he explained the cat was hostile at first but Ogie still stuck around and the cat eventually opened up to him
I think the idea of this song amongst all the heartbreak of the abusive relationships shown may be that Dawn was what Jenna used to be with falling in love easily. Also it brings a light-heartedness to the musical as well! :)
hmmm... nah, i don't think its creepy. in the case of any other character it would sound obsessive, but what Dawn needs is for someone to prove to her that they won't just leave her, that they're sticking around. and this song does that, and its cute. ...also he's just as dorky as she is, they fit! ^-^
@@jasonluvfandom now that I'm older, I'm really seeing it as it needs to be sung by and to the right people. I've come around and I'm like "hey this is actually super cute." If it was a different couple, no. But the couple that these two are? Yeah
roblox anti oh my gosh i thought the same thing!! my sister uses tiktok and i heard this song on there so i had to look it up to see if it was him bc i was so CONFUSED
Ogie: *Trying to show Dawn, in an admittedly strange way, that he won't leave her for someone else like she thinks he will. Turns out to be a fantastic, loving husband. * Earl: *Abuses his wife* Y'all: Ogie is defiantly like JD lol. He's such a stalker.
JD wasn’t abusive in the way Earl was. Earl was more physical and verbally abusive, JD did point a gun at Veronica “by accident” (possibly an accident, possibly not) but he was more manipulative. He didn’t yell or scream at her as much as Earl would, and didn’t physically attack Veronica, he only ever retaliated after she tried to get the bomb from him. He was obsessed with her, and had a twisted idea of love. Ogie is weird, and I don’t like the trope that a man (or woman!) can gain love from someone by “wearing them down” or chasing after that person who has clearly shown disinterest, which Dawn more than has. Dawn and Ogie were a very good couple after she opened up, and she did need someone to be steady and love her for who she was, but Ogie was overly obsessive and followed her to her place of work and harassed her, similar to how JD found Veronica’s house and went there. Clearly, finding her at work wasn’t nearly as bad as climbing in through the window of her house, but Ogie was more stalker-ish and obsessive than Earl was. In terms of how bad they were, Earl is definitely more like JD because they both sucked ass at being partners and people, and while Ogie was really creepy at first, he was a good person and boyfriend/husband to Dawn once he worked out their dynamic as a couple whereas Earl had no intent of being a good husband and JD was a psychopath who didn’t know how to love no mater how much he wanted to. Either way, Jenna and Veronica deserved better and Dawn ended up happy in her relationship.
Cat Piano Central It didn’t go that way. Dawn wanted Ogie around and she loved him, but she didn’t think she was good enough for him. Ogie wasn’t a stalker. He’s just saying that he’ll promise he’ll be loyal to her and never leave her for someone else and he’s trying to prove to her that Dawn *is* good enough for him.
@@seandalo saying you'll be loyal and saying you'll never, ever leave are two different things. saying you'll be loyal is normal at any stage of a relationship, but saying you'll never leave is something you do after a few months of dating them
DAWN, spoken] Please just take the mixed bouquet and leave! Just leave! [OGIE, spoken] Dawn! (sung) I will never let you let me leave I promise I'm not lying Go ahead ask anybody who has seen me trying I'm not going, if it seems like I did I'm probably waiting outside Such a stubborn man you'll likely never meet another When we have our family dinner you can ask my mother She's the best, you'll learn more about her on our family history test I'm gonna do this right Show you I'm not moving Wherever you go, I won't be far to follow Oh, I'm gonna love you so You'll learn what I already know I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me You can try, oh, but I I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me DAWN, spoken] Ready for your check? [OGIE, spoken] Not quite. Pie for everybody! [DAWN, spoken] What?! [OGIE] I grew up an only child in a suburb of the city Spent my days alone my only friend was a stray kitty called Sardine I thought it was hilarious to call a cat a kind of fish She played hard to get hissing while she scratched me What she was trying to say was "Ogie come and catch me" I learned quickly, that perseverance stood between a cat and her new best friend, me Oh, I'm gonna do this right Show you I'm not moving Wherever you go, I won't be far to follow Oh, I'm gonna love you so You'll learn what I already know I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me [DAWN, spoken] When you say NEVER- OGIE] You can try, oh, but I [CAL, spoken] I love you means blah blah blah yip yap yap yap now get back to work! [OGIE] Oh, you can try, but I I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me You can try, oh, but I I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me
I love how people are like creepy and stalker-ish, yet when it came to the song "You Will Still Be Mine" sing by Earl where he basically claims that Jenna belongs to him, and is an abusive man people are like "oh that's so romantic" like wtf
I want a guy/girl that'd be stubborn enough to not give up on me because I'm to scared to fall in love so...shit would just fall into place but that WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IM TOO WEIRD.
I actually had 4 of them. Tbh, it's actually kind of annoying since I'm a really busy (mostly always on my phone and books) person and school keeping me seeing anyone. But they're really sweet and nice so I kind of told them to that they deserve better and stuff.
I had the chance to see Waitress on Broadway around 5 years ago thanks to a school music trip, I knew very little about the story going in & even now, I remember THIS song crystal clear. The way it was performed was so electric. Such an upbeat, funny song in the middle of a goofy and personal musical.
Everyone just really claps for him during this number, the persons who get to play Ogie.. DEAR GOD they're all so amazing and talented. This is so catchy
I'm kinda surprised they made him look like a stalker. Especially with the domestic abuse relationship. I mean, it's clear he wasn't meant to come out as creepy. He clearly cares about Dawn. He's not a stalker. But they could have written this better lol He doesn't stalk Dawn or anything.
I did think he was a creep when I first heard this lmao I believe it was just the music and arrangement that made his intentions feel.... off. 😂 I like this song nonetheless hahaha
Is there video available of this? I've seen Waitress 3 times and this is truly 2-1/2 minutes of the most hysterical theater I have ever witnessed. Fitzgerald's performance is absolute comedic genius.
Aaaaaa i hate reading this comments Oggie is just a nerd and he tries to prove his loyalty and this song is honestly the reason why i wathched this musical!
I saw the musical when the broadway tour came to my state and the guy who played Ogie (I can’t remember his name off the top of my head) was absolutely AMAZING. If I ever have the chance to, i’d love to play Ogie because he’s such a fun character.
Dawn (the girl w glasses) went to a blind date but the guy, Ogie, was her unexpected date. Dawn made the mistake of telling him where she worked. So he visited Dawn while at work and she was desperate to drive him away. Then,,, *cue the song* Ogie says she'll never ever ever get rid of him. :)
Lin mAT This song and his performance .... Brought down the house ... I've never heard such a roar from the audience... Was spectacular !!! My favorite part of the play. Wish I could have rewound it and watched it over and over....
Lin Cee yeah it sounds really stalkerish but later in the musical and sort of in the beginning they show that dawn only isnt interested in him because shes afraid of opening up to people and soon they realize they actually have a lot in common (i'll agree this song is problematic but the character is supposed to be a lil misguided lol)
Dawn I will never let you let me leave I promise i'm not lying Go ahead, ask anybody who has seen me trying I'm not going If it seems like i did, i'm probly waitin' outside Such a stubborn man you'll likely never meet another When we have our family dinner, you can ask my mother She's the best you'll learn more about her on our family history test I'm gonna do this right Show you i'm not movin' Wherever you go, i won't be far to follow, oh I'm gonna love you so You'll learn what i already know I love you means you're never ever ever getting rid of me You can try, oh but i I love you means you're never ever ever getting rid of me (Ready for your check?) Not quite, Pie for everybody! (What? ) I grew up an only child In a suburb of the city I spent my days alone My only friend was a stray kitty Called sardine (sardine) I thought it was hilarious To call a cat a kind of fish She play hard to get Hissing while she scratched me What she was tryna say was "Ogie, come and catch me!" I learned quickly. That perseverance stood Between a cat and her new best friend, Me! Oh, I'm gonna do this right Show you i'm not movin' Wherever you go, i won't be far to follow, oh I'm gonna love you so You'll learn what i already know I love you means you're never ever ever getting rid of me (When you say never...) You can try, oh but i I love you means blah blah blah, yip yep yep yep Now get back to work! (Oh you can try, oh oh but i) I love you means you're never ever ever getting rid of me
Ppl saying this song gives of creepy vibes and stalker vibes doesn't understand the context of the song with the story, through out the story Dawn is shown by the other waitresses that relationships are horrible and boys will just get you hurt or leave you, Ogie is trying to show Dawn that he truly does love her and won't do those things she is afraid of, not only that but Ogie is represented as a kind, caring person who is slightly obsessed with Dawn and throughout the story he genuinely does keep trying and shows Dawn that he cares and loves her. Even in the song with the stray cat he shows that even tho he gets hurt from the cat that he keeps trying and that is a good thing, yeah if this was a irl situation he could do it in a different way because sadly things ain't like the stories but what matters is that he is trying to show that he genuinely does care and love her.
WHY IS NO ONE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE MAN CASUALLY SINGING OPERA IN THE BACKGROUND?? LIKE AN ACTUAL ICON, Y'ALL. JUST SINGING OPERA AT THE END FOR NO REASON BUT TOTALLY AND UTTERLY CRUSHING IT.
Ok but some families raise their children like this. It was the way they were raised. It might be stalkerish to you but to him he is just being stubborn and not letting her go.
