A joke that I like from the Announcer's voice lines is that the emancipation grills can possibly emancipate your ears, but they make sure to tell you that with a verbal announcement. Also, on your bit about questioning the ethics of the test chambers, I'm fairly sure the Announcer is little more than an advanced text-to-speech system. I don't think it can actually question much.
Many people speculate how long chell was actually in suspension, personally my headcannon is around 9999 days. So portal 2 takes place around 30 years after the combine invation. However some estimates place it at around 30,000 years after the events of portal
I think the devs themselves confirmed it's a very long time at some point but I'm not sure quite how long, but I remember it being in the thousands of years
Damn you convinced me I need to replay this game. I basically speedran it and pulled an all nighter when it came out because I couldn't stop playing it lol. Must have missed a lot of cool stuff.
YES, Portal 2! I love this game as much as the first. Lots of dark jokes, but also a lot of brighter humor. Spoilers for anyone who hasn't played this game yet (in that case: BUY IT! It's worth it): My favorite section is the old Aperture. I love Cave's humor and the music is wonderful. I don't know what it is, but the soundtrack just fits so well and I spend extra time in the chambers just to listen to a little longer. The game has a fantastic soundtrack in general, the fact that the soundtrack as mp3 comes with the game is just great.
