Man, it kills me that the industry acts like Wale just doesn't exist. Like he didn't drop classics like 88, Illest Bitch Alive, Lotus Flower Bomb, The Body, LoveHate Thing, The God Smile etc etc How can you ignore that flow? That wordplay? That depth in conception and lyricism. I would feel the same way as he does if I was treated the same way. Worst thing is that even this song [Groundhog Day] in which he spits out everything that is killing him doesn't even get heard. It doesn't get played let alone talked about. It hasn't even reached half a million views yet and is perhaps the deepest song I heard this year. Wtf is wrong with this world. This is crazy!
for all the bangers he has you can name another half of songs that are garbage. wale isn't consistent. but even still at his best he's one of the greats this song proves it.
The relationship between cole and wale so real. It takes ya brother to speak that real shit to you for it to bring the best out of you. Some of the best bars from wale in a min #salute
THIS IS A PURE WORK OF HUMAN SPIRITUAL ART!! There needs to be amused where you can go and hear shit... nothing visual, just pure amazing music such as this... This wasn't WALE.. THIS WAS WALE's Spirit talking..... BRAVOOO!!!!!!!
Keep sleeping. I ain't gon holla for your admiration. Ima just get my black ass in this booth, cut loose so I can buy papaya juice for my beautiful black baby.
Unfoldedwarrior You must have been one of those remedial students. He said he's slept on. Whether a person likes his music or not, doesn't change the fact that he's highly talented...
Unfoldedwarrior You should have stopped at your last dumb ass comment... Now people are really going to see how stupid you are. Using your own definition of "slept on", please tell me how that relates to people liking his music? Please don't answer, because you'll just come off more foolish.
Greg Gregory wow..all it takes is urban dictionary. You really are an ignoramus. dont you have self respect to at least check the facts before commenting. It's like im talking to people from an upside down reality. Even from context, you can still arrive at the same conclusion, how can you know something happening around you if you are sleeping. duh. oh my days, ignorant. jeez
JayQweezy15 On this generation of Rappers right now. Only three do it for me J. Cole, K.Dot & and Wale that's who I listen to, and it has been like this for over half a decade now.
Catalog Absolutely but he's gotta learn to stop chasing it. TAAN was great / Gifted was great but I don't think he's felt free since Ambition. When he makes an album sharing the example he wants to set for his life as opposed to what he thinks people want, that's when he'll have the most success. The World isn't changed by your opinion but by your example. IMO the new top tier lyricist chart (excluding the legends HOVs, NAS, Em, Pusha, LUPE etc) is pretty clear (Cole / Big Sean / Kendrick / Krit / Wale) in whatever order you like. Shot out Chance / Bas / Nipsey / Dave East / Young MA / Logic for keeping real Hiphop alive
Wale should know comin from D.C. we always been underrated and bitter about it. Wale carries that pain in his music. Look up some of the talent that's come from Maryland, D.C. and Virginia over time. Even certain styles and slang that D.C. has never gotten shine for are all over hip hop.
Tony Spade Right. the South didn't either. Now ppl see how they flipped the South beats up n messed it up..Love Wale and his DC funky Dig dirt beats bfre his signing!
Tony Spade That's Real Talk Yung. I'm from D.C Southeast I Rep the DMV cause they always sleep on us. This Year Im Gonna Be Another Artist To Put DMV On.
Y'all got true talent but honestly it seem like y'all DMV cats(or at least some of y'all) complain too much. I never surely on Wale but he complains about people sleeping on him too much. If he stays true to this song I'll be happy. Stay consistent and drop fire like we know he can
Wale really doesn't get his credit these days. People love to hate on him and call him boring and trash, when really, he's the best out of MMG along with Stalley and Meek. The only rappers people mention these days are Kendrick, Cole and Drake. Nobody giving Sean, Krizzle, Joey, Earl and Wale the shine and credit they deserve.

Bruh.......This shit gave me chills... To watch a talented soul be so frustrated while living in the heart of the beast. This industry is truly crazy, stressful, no way to know who is who. Never can really let your guard down, even the ones you think feel you don't really. "Not to cause a situation but what side of my of biracial friends call me they nigga?" That was such a bar. . .#treeoflyfe
Im Quvos he been at it before Cole Wale one of the best. catch him mumbling and hed probably off himself. he created his own lane, in an industry full of future, migos and yatchy's.. . hes not an idiot rapping on xans
@Wale speaking how you feel like this makes a shift in the tide and inspires people all around, don't feel slept on or think you don't have it bruh, you inspire countless people with your perspectives and poetry. Keep on man, keep on
wale goes hard the reason why hes hated is that his intelligence is much more higher than these rappers out there who rap about money hoes and other worthless shit
man I love all of the love in the comments. I've been rocking with wordplay le since hiphopgame . keep doing you strong black man. we got your back. bars on another level. rewind factor on infinity. shine on em!
Wale will be appreciated in due time. Tupac had the same problem when people were only praising BIG back in the day as the best of all time. Unfortunately he didn't live to see his prediction of being the greatest ever but at least he knew and worked hard for it. Some people just aren't appreciated until its too late. Wale ain't gonna die but when he stops spitting fire to help these flames burn while people only credit a limited number of rappers, they'll want the old Wale back but it'll be too late... Ask Lil Wayne.
Wake is def in that level. I've heard and looked at lyrics from every Tupac song. Contents normally different between the two but as far as pen to paper capabilities as well as track production wale is def in the same category. PAC and biggie get way more praise just because they're now gone. And people can only judge them from the era they were in and the content they produced in their otherwise-- short time frame-- with PAC having a greater body of work. Not taking anything away from them they were def great at the time and a lot of their tracks especially pac's are very powerful but to count Wale as not being on the level... we have to stop doing that. He is. And given Wayne's body of work and still running... he deserves way more credit than he gets because I'm sure most rappers that starter both before and after him aren't even present. Who knows if Tupac or biggie would've been able to go through to the next era and still be around. When you die they just play your old tracks we can't say they would've made new tracks that are staples in the new wave.
+Bruhh H Niggas who don't read shit properly or understand shit properly always talking something else. Who's comparing who to what? If you don't understand what I'm saying ask me "what are you saying?" Besides why every time someone mention Pac's name somebody from somewhere gonna be like "how dare you mention Pac's name" and they the same niggas who don't even know shit about Tupac except heard his music.
I know Do you nigga I wasn't praising pac I just said it is a bit of a reach to compare wale to pac. Plus y'all niggas out here tryna act like he ain't tryna ride j. Cole's wave. You just delusional
This is the Wale everyone wants. Cole wanted to bring that besdt out of him. Wale has bars for days. Him and Cole are 2 of the dopest rappers out right now.
The Album About Nothing was one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to in my life yet he gets no recognition. Must be tough being Wale because he knows like we all know he's levels above those amateur 8 week rappers yet people take him as a joke or a "corny" guy. I had friends who thought the same thing till I told them to listen to Gifted, more about nothing and TAAN and now they're telling me they were wrong all along. People just don't give him a chance and follow crowds like sheep. Imo he's one of the greatest to ever do it and he always spits the realest shit. He gotta get his recognition one day and when that day comes, people gone be like "damn how'd I sleep on this guy for so long?"
