Lia I enjoyed watching you and your family in Wales and learning about other places the views were very beautiful and the language lesson was very interesting as well hope you had a good time.
Thanks for the fabulous tour of Cardiff! Looks like such a fun area. Any culture that values the arts and music like the Welsh do, has to be a great culture! Love seeing more of your family and friends!
Damn girl, from the moment you spoke, I had a smile on my face ! As i have said before, " you are a genuine women " & I adore your smart, personal, heartfelt vlogs. They are rich, smooth & tasty, like fine chocolate ! Love you & peace🤗❤🥀
Great video lovely Lia!!! ❤ I was in Cardiff September last year beautiful city!!! The number of different accents in the UK is amazing! In Australia the accents in different parts of the country don't vary that much!
I loved this vid about the Welsh accent! I love trying to peg accents when watching movies or entertainment shows on TV! ,Especially British mainland dialects, South African. New Zealand or Australian!❤😀Can't wait til your next vid!!😀
I've lived in Washington state my whole life & I was surprised when I visited my brother in Florida & his friends said to me "I love your accent". I was like, "I don't have an accent, I live in Washington State, we don't have accents."😁 LOL!! I guess I do?? Too funny! So after the shock of it all, I said thank you.😊
I love Washington State I've been there many times. I don't remember anybody having an accent. But people there thought I have an accent. I'm from New Mexico. Ha ha.
My grandfather was Welsh and my Mother and her sisters were all part of the Arts, singing, acting etc. Very much part of what they enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.
when you said Patsy's greek name in the last video I was like did Lia just say Yoda 😂 love Panayota(?) her earmuffs are so cute lol both of your scarfs are so amazing!
WELSH WORDS slang : Tidy 3:34 the word lush means AMAZING !!!!! nOW IN A MINUTE "SOON" Welsh phrases to learn was lots of fun!!!! It so fun to visit Wales !!! 6:09 I'm really impressed with Cardiff too. What does Slang mean words like song, being slim. and the word Angel.
You can get welsh cakes in England in places like garden centre cafes. When I eat welsh cakes I eat them the proper welsh way which is warm with butter and a sprinkle of caster sugar.
Your funny Lia... Natural in front of the camera, made me smile. I'm Welsh valley born n bred, and that accent of yours is pretty much nailed on. Here's a quick easy one for you.. Oy..Wat'eww doin, an ware'ew goin now enn butt? (Hey.. What are you doing, and where are you going then mate?) Keep up the great vids !!!
Your very good accents made me laugh. During my first trip to England, Scotland, Wales and both Irelands ... was saying "what ?" a lot. Must have been very annoying to the locals ... but they were very kind and repeated until I could understand. My UK friends used to say "wha ?" and roar with laughter whenever they knew I didn't understand what they had said. Can not wait to return!
Rod Westwood a lot of series are filmed in Cardiff: Torchwood, Dr Who, some scenes in Sherlock and lots more. There are a few film studios based here and the BBC has a big base here too 😊
Dear Lia, I was laughing so hard while you were trying so hard to use the right accent & naming the wrong accents. I loved getting to know & see more of your cousin Patsy. I noticed she is more accustomed to the weather as she was wearing pantyhose instead of leggings like you were.x
Hi Lia! Some of our local churches in Pennsylvania where I live, sell Welsh SORRRY! cookies but we do call them cookies here, as fundraisers. Hope I didn't trigger you! I just bought some for my husband, but they aren't my favorite. You may like them because they usually aren't as sweet as a regular cookies or biscuits, since you're a SAVORY GIRL 🤗 (new t-shirt) and SWEET for Joel🤭. I was eyeing up Joel's chocolate cookie in his NY blog myself. You're looking fantastic and happy as usual , be well, and love your vlogs, so upbeat!
Can one say, 'Such a tidy video!'? I've heard of but never seen any part of Wales or Cardiff before. I didn't realize you had to cross a bridge to get there... (🤦♀️) Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed your video, accents, Welsh phrases and the whole cast of characters involved! 🌟
As i was watching your other video i just loved Patsys accent and i really enjoyed listening to you speak in her accent. Like the time you acted like you were American asking people questions on the street, you are very good with accents. I really enjoy watching all your videos.
When you said, "we can drive 20 minutes in any direction and we get another accent" that's exactly the same as it is in Los Angeles, or I guess any big city. I can almost always tell where a person grew up in Los Angeles by their distinct L.A. accent. I LOVE different accents and one of my favorite accents of English is the Welsh accent. It's SO sexy!!! I used to watch Torchwood and had a big crush on Gwen and the way she said O-wén or her husband's name Reese (Reeeeese). OMG, such a fanboy for the Welsh accent.
As my landlady said to me, "Welsh cakes are not fattening; the sugar's all on the outside." The answer to "Where's that to, then?" is, "That's up by yur."
I love to hear about regional customs and language. Here in the States, when I lived nearby in Rhode Island, I lived in an old mill town named, "Woonsocket" (funny name, but it's a mix of English and American Indian tongue roughly translated into "Thunder Mist" for a large waterfall on the river that flows through the city), which had a large migratory ethnic Quebecois population, that came down from Canada to work in the old woolen mills back in the day. It created a very interesting way to speak. A couple of examples would be: "Side by each" means to parallel park along a city street and a way to tell someone to get you your hat before heading out would be, "Throw me down the stairs, my hat". Obviously, it's a strong French language influence on the area.
Laughed the whole time listening to you guys in the car ride! And wait... something that’s basically a shortcake pancake?? 🤯 That’s like the stuff dreams are made of. I want!!
Ice cream presidente is my hero. Doctor man said I can’t have anymore ice cream‘cause I am too too big and I eat too too much. 😢. He is mean. I may fire him. I go through a lot of doctors.
They're traditionally cooked on a cast-iron bakestone, so I can see where the nickname came from. In Welsh, they're "picau" or "picau ar y maen", literally "little cakes on the stone" - "maen" being Welsh for (bake)stone. My mother has a bakestone that's been passed down through umpteen generations, and she's made some fine Welsh Cakes on it in her time :)
Nothing alike. The Welsh are for the most part, introverted but down to earth. The Irish are nearly complete opposite. The only comparison is that they are both Celtic and may have had similar origins.
@@o.c.smithiii2626 Do they still charge extra for pie without the ice cream? Because people ignorant enough to eat pie without ice cream would be fool enough to pay extra?
Are welsh cakes softer almost like a cake texture or hard and crispy like a cookie? They’re going to fill my dreams now lol. Love the travel videos Lia and you and Ach are the cutest couple! 🥰
Lia Hatzakis Is it? I just love all Scottish accents really. Isnt Glaswegian more of the iconic Scottish accent? I try to do a Scot accent sometimes. Most of the time I slip into a Spanish accent! Haha.
notformebeaky Haha. I LOVE the Glaswegian accent. Which accent do you have? My mom is half Scot according to AncestryDNA. Im 1/4. We need something with Anderson on it haha. What accents do you like? Scots and others?
notformebeaky I do like that Welsh accent. I really like all the British accents but have some favorites... Glaswegian, north of England, Manchester, etc. There are so many!
Was watching old Joel & Lia videos you two have really changed in the last two years. I know you have worked really hard and it’s paying off. But most of us looked our best at your age. Stay active and eat well. Your best defense. Loving all your videos. Sometime wish y’all still did shorts or skits. Not sure what y’all call them
Channeling Joanna Page, @liahatzakis! Pretty great. Just want to sound a little like a leprechaun (in your head) when doing Welsh. Dr who was my introduction to Cardiff. I had to stand in front of the fountain from Torchwood and we went to the Dr. Who experience! It was LUSH.
Hope you have good health insurance Leo, that can get quite expensive, getting beat up that is. Maybe some good running shoes so you can make a fast get away.😄
After getting my DNA testing results I discovered I have a cousin from Cardiff. I may have to introduce myself and pay her a visit. Thanks for showing us around.!
