Wales v Australia and NZ Rugby League World Championships 1975 - Part 2 Wales v Australia, 19th October 1975, Swansea, Wales And Wales v New Zealand, 2nd November 1975, Swansea, Wales
Having followed Rugby league since 1972 watching this contest shows me how the game has gone downhill, here we see no gang tackling, no 5 hit ups and a kick, no constant protesting to the referee, regular boot lace tackles, and unpredictability in attack, a very entertaining contest.
What an absolute stud Terry Randal was. All over the park and tackled everything that moved. Huge performance! Lost count of the number of tackles Steve Rogers missed.
The crowd of 11,112 was the largest ever to see Wales play a match against the Kangaroos at Swansea. Though it fell well short of the 30,000 who turned up in November 1945 to see Wales defeat England 26-10 in the 1945-46 European Championship.
Must have been tough to take for a patriotic Welshman to know there were superior rugby players to the Welsh in the 1970s, namely the Australian Kangaroos.
