I understand the logic behind reducing the severity of prosecution of certain crimes, but something something law of unintended consequences. For every intended consequence, there will be two more you didn’t expect and one will likely be unpleasant.

A teenage version of me would have thrived in currant day NYC since I use to be a shoplifter back then. As a former shoplifter, I can tell you with absolute certainty that your without consequences statement holds more water than an ocean.

I understand other areas not wanting a problem individual to come, but perhaps a new start & some resource programs to help that person get established into a better path could be beneficial. I know it's not fun for the family & friends to have a loved one forced to move away, but their decisions resulting that ultimately is on them. Obviously this is just an idea for something different to try, & would require a lot of moving pieces. But nothing currently seems to be working - so maybe some new ideas will bring a working plan to fruition.

It is an unfair world and unfair life, in Italy we say that some are born from the v*gina and some are born from the as*hole, and that's what divese us... Some are born to struggle and live under harsh conditions as workers and a small minority gets everything as easy as you can get something, and if someone tries to break that cicle: you probably guest it, they get beat up.
