Wali Songo's Relics at the Demak Grand Mosque Museum
The Demak Grand Mosque Museum is located within the Demak Grand Mosque complex. The Demak Mosque is the oldest mosque on the island of Java which was founded by Wali Songo during the early days of the spread of Islam in Java. The Demak Mosque was the forerunner to the founding of the Demak Kingdom which was founded by Raden Patah, son of Brawijaya V from Majapahit.
Some of the collections of the Demak Grand Mosque Museum include the Samber Nyowo Alap-Alap, Recumbent Wooden Sticks, old photos and documents of the Demak Mosque, Ki Ageng Selo's Bledeg Door, Sunan Bonang's handwritten Al-Quran Mushaf, Soko Guru's Tatal Pole from Sunan Ampel, Sunan Gunung Jati, Sunan Bonang, and Sunan Kalijaga.
The Demak Grand Mosque Museum is on the north side of the Demak Mosque. Visitors who come can also make a pilgrimage to the Tomb of Raden Patah and the Tomb of Sunan Kalijaga.
