Walk Away Split of a Beehive No1

Some people seem to try to make this sound hard but I would heartily recommend your approach to bee improvement book to any beginners and even experienced beekeepers looking to improve their local stock instead of buying in queens and muddying our already muddy gene pool.

First time on your channel. Very easy to follow. I love your approach. Why put the second brood box on top first? Why not start with a new floor. Find the queen and move her on her frame with some bees and stores. Sorry if this is a silly question. Great stuff 👍

If swarming is concern I do kinda opposite, If hive is packed with bee's, I leave queen in place but only with 1 frame of brood and rest with foundation/Old build frames and move the split with most frames away a few yards, as most of the workers return to main hive to them it looks like queen has swarmed and moved to empty hive and workers get to work, some feed helps build the wax. Meanwhile the split is full of young bees and stores and can make or take a mated queen. To be honest i'd nearly make 2 splits if 8+ frames of brood and put 3-4 brood and stores in splits but if early its risky if not sure on weather. Bucks seem to do best this methods as build up very fast early in season unlike AMM black bees.
