The mixture of your videography, the subtitles and the music are a perfect mix. Very well done. Thank you for uploading.

This was one of my favourite things to do in Rome! It was most certainly a very moving experience to walk down in those tunnels and absorb so much of Rome's rich history.

Anna, I'm booked for the "Full Experience, Coloseum Underground" tour in 2 weeks. It includes entry to the Forum and the Palatine Hill. But I don't know if it includes the "Super Sites." Did your ticket include that?

Hi Ian, thank you very much for the feedback, so happy you enjoyed it with us. The tour guide told us some horror stories; the fights, Nero’s cruelty and just generally how disposable people seemed to be back then. Great time to be alive today for sure!

Look at how few tourists there are just 4 weeks ago. We are here currently (May 14th to 19th), and Rome, including the sites, is absolutely jam-packed.

Hi Matt. We were surprised that it was so quiet when we went. London was the exception though, almost couldn’t move in the streets! Good luck with the crowds and have a great trip!

In the 1960s, the hypogeum was open to anyone and you could walk around down there anywhere you wanted without those raised walkways. But then again, in those days, there might have been only 200 or so people in there at any given time.
@the5ktourists
@the5ktourists Год назад
That would’ve been incredible! I was just pondering your comment and thinking back how extra spectacular travel must have been in the 60s…no RU-vid, internet, etc. Imagine the anticipation and wonder of travel back then!
@DarthTrader707
@DarthTrader707 Год назад
Very well done. The colosseum Hypogeum must be surreal to walk through....walking in the same footsteps that thousands of people walked before going up to be killed. It looks like you really have to use your imagination when looking out into the arena, but one area where you don't is the concourse you shot at the beginning. You can so easily picture the thousands of Romans making their way into the colosseum, taking that same walk. Maybe you'll show it in a later video, but the emperor's entrance is also very interesting. You can stand on the same stones that the famous emperors of Rome walked on as they made their way into the colosseum.

Hi Sebastian, love your feedback, thank you! My imagination went wild when walking through; especially how the gladiators must have felt walking to meet their fate. It’s almost unimaginable. Unfortunately we didn’t get to the Emperor’s entrance as we were on a tight timeline to make the Roman Forum before closing time. However, I threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain so will definitely be back in Rome! Anna

They should finish installing the rest of the floor and cover it with sand just like ancient times, people would get a real feeling of what it was like.
@the5ktourists

Gratis, I visited Rome but time $ only got to fully see 2-3 places like Vatican, the Colosseum might have been off limits for restoration in 1984

Hi! You're right, I was at the Colosseum in 2010 and just checked my pictures, the downstairs and underground section was closed then so would definitely have been in 1984. I hope that you get to go again and can see this magic first-hand :-).

Hi Angela! We booked ours on Viator. Here’s the link (we don’t earn anything by sharing this) www.viator.com/tours/Rome/Ancient-Rome-and-Colosseum-Tour-Underground-Chambers-Arena-and-Upper-Tier/d511-3731COLOSSEUM_SMALL I suggest you book well in advance as they sell out quickly due to the small size of the groups. It’s pricey but was worth every cent!

Yes, it is interesting...but in a sad way to me. Hopeless people, men, women, children, all going to be slaughtered as entertainment for others. So many animals killed...again for entertainment. The Gladiators themselves......not just man against man at times.....and usually ended up as they were killed off one by one....a friend you had made in there.....or someone you knew had no chance against you and you would have to kill him.....all for someone's view of entertainment. Yes...a chance for freedom....at the cost of many others you had known....ate with, talked to, saw on a daily basis. The Colosseum itself...yes most interesting, the design, seating, etc., I wonder if anyone ever took or kept a log...for a count of how many had died there. And afterward....what did they do with the bodies ?

I love the empathy with which you’ve observed this. It’s bizarre, when considering modern standards and human rights, that it was considered normal to do that with people and animals. I am grateful that I was born when I was! Anna
