Fun fact: I won my 3rd grade talent show by singing & dancing to "I like it, I love it" 😂👍🏼 And the next year my elementary school took my dance and used it in the school's end of year program ✌🏼 I live in a very small/country town & even now, at 33 years old, I still have people coming up laughing about that one time I line danced to "I like it, I love it" 🤩🤣

I'm with ya. If I was a girl and those references were thrown in to pick me up, I'd probably tell the dude to come up with something original. If I wanna listen to those songs, I will. They sound like actual country music and make me feel something. They are a mix of balads and fun peppy songs you can two-step or tap your toe on. There a lot of these frat boy dude bro country boys that try to list or tell you how country they are over a medium-tempo wrappy snap clap track with whangy guitars and sometimes not even that. You can evolve country music but still remember the roots and where it came from. Meaning put your own flavor with it but we don't totally need to lose the rootsy instrumentation or root out the very elements that make it country music. If you're gonna prove your "country cred" then make country music.
