Wow! I'm very surprised you visited Izushi! My parents are from there and I go there every year, but it is not the most famous tourist spot in Kansai, even among Japanese people.

@@sharlainjapan Yeah it's a beautiful town, but it's a little town and maybe not suitable as a main destination. Many people visit there when they also visit Kinosaki as you did:)

@@ttkoeda9954 It's also important not to spoil a small town with hordes of people and the traffic jam to get there. For example, Korankei is gorgeous in autumn but the insane flood of people and cars does not improve its charm. This is the difficulty of tourism--the balance of retaining the charm of a place while increasing the number of visitors. Instagrammers have polluted so many destinations now.

I'm finding these videos I stumbled upon tonight a little bittersweet. It was my daughter's fondest wish to do exactly what these videos are portraying. Serious illness is very stressful for the whole family. I wish you peace and respite. Hopefully, you can find even small moments of the simplest joy to create memories with.

Thank you, Sharmander, for showing us this. I really like the Kabuki theater, that was amazing to learn how they could put on intricate shows using only simple technology like pulleys; a real contrast to how plays are put on nowadays. I really liked that area with the steps, it was so beautiful with the colors of the leaves surrounding the area. You look very good in your Kimono; I bet that was a lot of fun getting to wear it.

I fell in love with Edo period Japan as a kid, watching anime, like Samurai Champloo. It's such an interesting time period. I did so much research as a kid.

It’s interesting. Actually I didn’t know Izushi till now, I’m Japanese though. Izushi seems to have a long long history, which was founded in the 4th century. I’ve decided to go there for sightseeing.

関東育ちの私、伊豆市かと思ってクリックするも兵庫の出石と判明するなど（笑ゲームの桃鉄でしか訪れたことがありませんが、綺麗な所ですね。 I'm from Eastern Japan. The thought "Izushi" means "Izu City" (Izu-shi, 伊豆市) crossed my mind, but it turned out to be "Izushi City" (Izushi-shi, 出石市) 😂 I've visited there only in MOMOTETSU series of video games, but this place actually looks beautiful.

Wow! I've been to some old west style theaters in the USA that had that kind of rustic look and feel but obviously they aren't nearly as old and the allure of something far beyond your own country's history and culture is especially intriguing!

Probably Shinshu (today we call it Nagano) Soba is the most famous Soba in Japan. In Edo era, Tokugawa Shogunate assigned lord of Shinshu to Izushi. And the lord took some Soba masters with him on his moving because he liked soba very much. I learned this is how Izushi soba started. As you know mostly cold soba is served on zaru (bamboo sieve) but Izushi soba is served on a plate as shown on your vlog. They call it Sara-Soba, not Zaru-Soba. Actually the plates are from local pottery, Izushi-Yaki. Thank you for visiting Hyogo prefecture.
